  1. Harris is the best back we have had since Charles Roberts.
  2. It's been a long time since we had a home grown Winnipeg star to cheer for. For me, AH makes the season. Further, Harris is one of the few players in this league who can put the whole team on his back and carry them. We have just added 4 victories to this season. Won't it be great to have his family in the stands?
  3. The Board, officially or not, ultimately controls the purse strings especially on things as important as senior football executives ..... and that is where we fall down like ground hog day
  4. More of the same .... another CEO or two adding another feather to their hat ... I see no new plan to fix what's ailing us .... just a mutual admiration society ... when will we ever have a leader with a real vision that everyone will get on board with?
  5. I don't believe its the receiver talent base .... Rather it's the offensive coordinator and how he handles the new prospects .... its how not who You have a good development system or you don't .... see Buono & Hufnagel & Baker & other past great dynasties
  6. Who would win & who would lose if we the fans knew our CFL players base salary & bonuses?
  7. i WOULD SPEND ON LINEMEN Canadian linemen are better of course All else can be obtained bu our US Scouting especially backs & receivers
  8. I mean will Walters get even more aggressive this year or perhaps the opposite, be a little more passive or careful? Picard was supposed to be big but was instead a bust. Stanley Bryant seemed a solid signing but I feel a little underwhelmed by it. Moore at wide receiver hasn't lived up to hopes. Hurl was one of our big Canadian signings and we all know how that went when it came time to make an immediate impact. So what has Walters learned? Last year Ottawa was all over the free agent market; this year perhaps not so much. How is Jones in Regina going to affect the free agent equation? What other factors around the league are going to affect supply and demand for teams like Montréal and Vancouver?
  9. We are about to enter into our annual free agent scramble. The teams will get their key people signed to two-year contracts. Some few sought after veterans will test free agency. Then there will be a few aging former stars going for their last big contract. Their ball clubs maybe breathing a sigh of relief at not having to pay up for these former gate attractions. So is anything different this year, unique factors the change the way clubs are going to go about their talent search? Or will free agency be business as usual? Does anyone think Kyle Walters will pursue free agents any differently than he has in the past?
  10. Based just on value I believe we are overpricing the end zones and leaving a lot of people at home watching on TV. Personally, I would rather spend the money on a good meal than pay what seems like a ransom for a family outing to the stadium. Yes I will pay up for the grandstands where the sightlines are decent. But to watch half the game from so far away... No thanks. I believe the BOMBER management would do well to lower the price point in the end zone and fill that part of the stadium.... Develop some young fans for the future. Do any of you feel the same way?
  11. How do you know he is a " Self Made Millionaire "
  12. The rest would truly be a blind stab in the dark
  13. My Top 12 1. Zach Collaros 2. Bo Levi Mitchell 3. Mike Reilly 4. Henry Burris 5. Ricky Ray 6. Trevor Harris 7. Drew Willy 8. Drew Tate 9. Darian Durant 10. Jonathan Jennings 11. Kevin Glenn 12. Travis Lulay
  14. No need to be serious if being a know-it-all is the goal. " the BoD's role in football operations is ... " to get sound and competent operators. We haven't had such since Lyle Bauer went sour. Bauer saved the franchise's bacon when it looked like the Blue were going down for the financial count .... we had some success for a while after that. Then Bauer started to accumulate too may mistakes and he quit before he got run out of town. Bauer turned out to be a good hire when we needed a financial manager and fund raiser. But running operations to produce a champion requires a different type of judgment. OKing Cal Murphy's breaking the bank for Matt Dunigan was also good but short lived. Hiring Dave Ritchie was good and firing him was poor. Anything done recently by this board has been poor. The CJOB deal/hire was embarassing.... what was his name again? The mismanagement of the new Stadium build could have been fatal and revealed huge cracks in management's abilities. Hiring Joe Mack as a non resident reveals nothing but wishful thinking instead of critical dedication. He took the role on as a retirement hobby. Taking on a no-accomplishment no track record Kyle Walters has been painful to watch and a poor bet if we wanted to gamble. Instead of making a diligent search we came off looking like cheapskates. Finally Wade Miller .... a poor track record at Pinnacle if you check his industry references ... and running a Booster Juice franchise doesn't make you Donald Trump. Miller so far appears to be Mr. Invisible. Our board is terribly broken "and quite frankly incompetent."
  15. I have worked with enough boards to know how they operate .... when they meddle and how much influence they exert with the cheque book ... it is your comment that breathes naivety about how the real world works, politically, corporately and egotistically .... Boards are as different as people are .... and as irrational and self justifying as individuals ... some are far more effective than others .... some follow "the vision" while others are most self serving .... Outside of the mechanics involved how do you think each member really gets nominated and approved? What type of BoD do you think the Bombers have had in the past two decades? More importantly (beyond all things new-stadium related and hasn't that been a shmoz) what has this board done in the last two decades that could be labeled "effective leadership". And since you brought it up, what have they done to improve "football operations"? Give me a break .... What is the constant, the reality before your eyes? Do you really think we are on a 25 year "unlucky streak"?
  16. A Blue Bomber Hall of Famer. A guy with a lot of heart and football smarts. But what he has done as President since assuming the job is a complete mystery to me ... and perhaps to you too. What has he shown in his regime? What are his accomplishments. What impact is he making? Please don't tell me he has shown "great patience"... I would like to know what you "feel" about our mysterious Wade Miller.
  17. How about a BOD that will pay up for the best coaches scouts and managers instead of going for all these rookies and "experiments" as a starting point to wiser spending? Your ridiculing sarcasm lacks depth and insight
  18. First of all, on the board will be the city of Winnipeg & of Manitoba representation: their not very secret agenda is fiscal responsibility and loan protection. While increasing crowd size is attractive for them the bigger focus is keeping costs down. Look for a veto from them on any aggressive spending programs outside of the salary cap. Second, there will be former players on the board. They would spend wildly if they can to make sure there is the best possible coaching and talent acquisition. Unfortunately they are virtually powerless with nothing but moral suasion on their side. Finally there is the "old boys club" of mature or retired businessmen. Getting on the board is a feather in their cap, a status symbol of their success. Being chairman of the board is even greater status. Unfortunately in Winnipeg the mentality from the business world is cutting costs and making a profit especially in the face of flat or declining revenues. It is just contrary to their nature to spend an unjustified nickel. They are most risk-averse. These business types are rarely entrepreneurs and visionaries. The Winnipeg business type is very different from say the more freewheeling business people of Alberta or even Saskatchewan. Until our governance changes this type of board composition is going to continue... And that's why we have been stuck for the past two decades in mediocrity. Occasionally, we end up with better talent and on field management but it has been short-lived and anything but the kind of thinking that builds and maintains dynasties.
  19. I disagree ... our BOD is an old boys club and football is Perks for them .... they have their own secret agendas
  20. The missing ingredient is still ... well the missing ingredient we haven't had in a very very long time: A BOD with the will to win and until that changes expect more of the same
  21. Maybe it's on Walters but we need real leadership and good decision making from MOS
  22. MOS has it wrong from the time he was recruited from the Green ... he is a role player that will improve a little each year but he is not / will not be the stud mlb that will raise the level of everywhere around him .... sending a boy to do a man's job .... the mlb is a critical leadership position ... don't understand coach's delusion on this
  23. They are cleaning house in Regina .... Lapo is here now .... is he going to bring new coaching staff or retrofit the old .... how about player personnel: tweaking or overhauling the offense?
  24. kill joy
  25. We have had this conversation a hundred times in the last decade ..... they are useless .... what we need is the will to win and we don't have that ... just the desire to compete is all we have
