Which Coach gets an early paid Vacation?
BigBlue replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Those 3 might be the top candidates ... Is BC talent starved or suffering from bad coaching .... same Q for Toronto Austin is an angry bird but as a special recruit should last longer than Doug Berry did in Winnipeg Blame blame blame and a sacrificial goat before fix, fix, fix Weird how west vs east is so polarized this year -
So it's Bucks fault? I like this theory in fact I love it. Buck may have been a better running back than a QB

Toronto has league worst pass defence, surprised?
BigBlue replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Worst defines against run & pass ... no offence ... so how do they win 1st place? Can't be Montreal with their QBing .... does that leave the TiCars and angry Kent Austin? Go Le Favour! er ... uh ... I don't know .... Burris & 1st expansion team in history to win their division????/ Eh? -
Lets thank Danny McManus for his good eye on Willy and the warning on Collaros

absolutely ridiculous sentiments. The reason Harris and Cornish are not challenged is primarily because of their passport and Charles Roberts was freakishly durable. Most running backs take such a beating their bodies can't sustain that level of play for 8 years, that's a big part of the reason why you see such a revolving door. You can bring up a guy who is capable of leading the league in rushing pretty easily, just that most of them can't sustain the level of play for many years and get replaced by another one of those new guys who is capable of doing it. With Harris and Cornish though there aren't the numbers of Canadians who can run at that level so they don't face the same kind of challenges an american would. Expecting to find another RB like Roberts is wasting time as well. He's one of the all time greats, those guys don't come along all the time, might as well ***** and moan that we haven't replaced Milt Stegall yet either. Couldn't agree with you more: Most running backs take such a beating their bodies can't sustain that level of play for 8 years, that's a big part of the reason why you see such a revolving door I was just countering some of the reasoning going on in this thread .... good running backs are hard to find and Ford was good enough ... not a discard ... that's my whole point but good running backs are easy to find... the difference between a great back and a good back is pretty much that durability, but it's a really really replaceable position. Ford was decent but simply not consistent enough to be the every day starter. Grigsby suffers from some of the same problems, not good enough at breaking tackles. agreed

Two awful teams going toe to toe. Lefevour get eaten alive by the better defences in this league. On a side note did anyone notice JJ getting scorched tonight. He was about 15 yards out of position. Then later he gets an interception and tells the world. "I'm back!!" You sure are JJ...you sure are. " Lefevour get eaten alive by the better defences in this league": Collaros hasn't looked so great either ... certainly nothing like the trophy he has been made out to be .... I think Collaros was just a cog in Toronto's machine and in Hamilton doesn't look like the same part

Then why is Taman having so much trouble replacing Sheets .... who has Montreal come up with ... what has Ottawa done? Why did Buono bring back the Logan retread ... not so easy, really, is it in actual practice? , Taman is having trouble replacing Sheets because...well because he is Taman. He is not the type of GM that is adept at uncovering talent quickly. Montreal? Didn't realize they were looking with Whitaker still there. Ottawa chose Chevon Walker in the expansion draft and he is playing excellent ball for them. I fail to see any of the points you are trying to make. The fact of the matter is that the RB position is a revolving door and most teams have very little problem finding new ones. The fact that there is a revolving door as you say speaks to the problem ... A dominating back Like Cornish, Andrew Harris and Charles Roberts is a real find and they don't grow on trees even in the great American south .... if they were Ottawa might have somebody pushing Chevron Walker .... Montreal could have replaced Whitaker last year with a back who would be challenging him this year ... why not ? ... are we excited about the replacement backs in Calgary and Toronto? All pretty average and ho-hum making their share of a few good plays ... but no real game changers. Finding really good running backs is anything but easy! Will Ford was a good back that did most things well including blocking and catching flat passes ... Grigsby has nothing on him ... Ford's only problem was he was part of last year's regime and we are changing all that .... Ford wasn't going to be a super star but he would have made a bigger difference than Grigsby who hasn't been very good at finding holes, taking it outside or busting tackles We have never really replaced Charles Roberts ... Fred Reid was just another average back and so has everyone we have had since Maybe Cotton has something to show us ... then cutting Ford won't seem like such a big mistake ... Ford provided what we need now and would certainly have been good depth for no running back plays at full strength all 18 games anymore or perhaps ever If we are happy with average backs then replacing them is easy but a difference maker not so much

Logan is a very average running back who like most has the occassional bright spot ... he is on the downside of his career and not nearly anything like he once was He is not capable of carrying the team on his back like harris can and neither is he a dominating player like Cornish He gives the Lions an alternate look ... not much more at least not that I have seen last year or this ... just the odd nice play that any decent back wil give

Looks like LeFevour make take the number one spot from Collaros Marsh likely will get a real chance to replace the fair haired Heisman winner Beck the old pro (the 32 year old NFL vet) looks like he has too much to learn The way Reilly plays I bet we are going to see how good Matt Nichols is Harris will be no challenge to Ricky Ray ,,,, ditto Sunseri to Durant Ottawa better hope Burris will start all 18 games again this year Mitchell is winning but Tate seems to have run the team better in the past On average CFL QB's rarely start all 18 games .... Brohm will get his chance but I believe Marvel (yes I know no L) will eventually be our # 2 ... I am not sure why but I have my suspicions
-
yes good o-line and grandma could have picked up 50 yards behind them ... but the other 67 was Will Ford ... finds holes, breaks tackles, gets in the right position to catch passes, makes blocks ... doing all that better than Grigsby Management never gave a proven veteran (and an all star) a chance and that was a mistake .... still feels like they are cleaning house from last year .... Will Ford did not play himself off our team
-
Will Ford : 117 yards rushing Finding holes & breaking tackles Excellent pass & catch .... easily executed good blocking And oh ... 3 TD's I don't know who made the decision to cut Ford but lets just call it the mistake that it is At least we make decisions and I like that ( just hate this one) Well lets back the decision by starting Cotton next game

Glenn wears sweater # 2 ... its a psychological / symbolic thing I think .... I do not know if he will ever think like a # 1

We had that great Khari team in 2001 (?) but we have not had a dominating team since the late 1980's ... just a good year here and there ... we are on the way to building a dynasty the 01 team was dominant, the 02 team might have been better but ran into injuries in playoffs and a rookie Ricky Ray taking the league by storm. 03 they were a good team as well, hosted a playoff game. I think that counts as a good stretch of seasons, they just panicked too soon and canned the coach. Those were good years ... But a dynasty would have won one or two Grey Cups ... we have to go to the `1980's to qualify ... or the late 1950's early 1960's

Agreed. After the Willy interview I switched over to 1290. They take some calls but not nearly as much. Walby provides good insight as well. Does 1290 have an audio vault like CJOB to go back and lessen to later?

Lawless: Trade Glenn January for Canadians
BigBlue replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I love the progress in the line but there is a lot of work to do ... a lot and when Greaves gets back, I would like to see Neufeld go over to tackle leaving Knapp at the current guard position -
The chat room does't do it for me ... I miss the 15 page game day threads from yesteryear
-
And one play was for 16 yards .... RB's need to occasionally find there own holes ... or bounce to where there is open spaces ... Grigsby is not a fullback like Hoss Houmard

A lead hands FB would not have made that reception
-
I want Will Ford back .... I didn't see Grigsby do anything special ... not everybody is a Charles Roberts but the feature running back needs to be a play-maker ,,, getting a couple of first downs without the o-line making a hole for him .... carrying the game on his back ... Grigsby is very very average Since Ford is gone lets put the Cotton to the test Great improvement on the o-line ... we got pass protection ... next we work on running schemes
-
Carl makes a leaping catch and then runs for a 40+ yard gain .... not your average fullback/tight end .... Fitzy is definitely an under utilized asset .... a big man with good hands, he needs to become a regular part of our offence .... more than just playing in double tight end sets
