Wish they had a reasonable plan of action to prepare their next QB but you know they probably don't. It'll come down to whatever falls from the sky at that moment. Sooner or later Zach will get injured which may force them to address the issue beforehand.

Like any big star in hockey or football a complete team has to be built around that player before they can win a championship, which can take many years and a great deal of patience to achieve.

That's more of a hope and a prayer than a logical assumption at this time. They have a good chance to win the GC if they consistently play well and win most games by outplaying their opponents in all 3 phases, as they have for the past few years. A couple of key indicators are not in their favour this season, they are not winning consistently and they also are not playing that well on offence.

Question is at this point does Zach have an upside left? He still has a competitive spirit but physically he's diminished from what he was, a 10 yd. scramble has him seriously winded so he's not doing everything he can to stay in the best shape at his age. He used to be fleet of foot, now he looks as sluggish as Bighill when escaping the pocket. His success as a passer always depended on his ability to throw on the run, every DC in the league has figured this out and has been cutting the field down and flooding the drop zone with angry DB's. He never has gone through multiple progression on a play and never will, he's mostly a gunslinger who loves to shoot from the hip. Last game, he looked seriously confused at his inability to move the ball, without reliable protection from his O-line, his plays of choice were to hand off to Brady or throw the ball in the general direction of Lawler, Wilson or Demski whether they were fully covered or not, using them as crutches to make up for Buck's ill conceived plans to achieve a quick strike. The last drive was reminiscent of the desperation Maier played with in previous seasons to move the ball on last minute drives, before he discovered any sense of composure. The plays looked mostly scripted with Zach firing the ball blindly to a spot whether a receiver was there or not. Fortunately it worked out for Zach on that one last drive.

Maybe if the Bombers have a playoff spot locked up and Zach doesn't dress, other than that, probably not. -
U of M grad Gavin Cobb returns punts and kicks the way Cody Case was supposed to, coming off his ELC he'd look great in blue.

Huh??? Last heard from cut by the Riders in the spring. Isn't he the DB Bailey knocked out of action?

Yep, Zach began to show cracks in his armour last season and it looks like they've gotten worse this year, he can temporarily patch them up for a game or two but they eventually become exposed again. The QB we saw yesterday is no longer capable of overcoming all odds and beating superior teams in the playoffs other than by fluke. He's slower of foot and apparently slower of mind than he was 2-3 years ago when he was at his peak, and he now spends a lot more series struggling through down modes rather than ripping it up and excelling. Hopefully Walters is looking down from up high and cold heartedly evaluating the future prospects with and without Zach as the team leader, without being influenced by the sentimentality of past accomplishments. It comes down to the odds of winning or losing with the current direction and determining when and how to change course.

The CC's mandate seems to be, "imagine if we didn't have access to the technology to review a play in much more detail than a ref. on the field, that's what we'll base our calls upon." It's become utter nonsense. -
Probably not, he accumulated pretty good passing stats. during his CFL career, LaPo also credits Kerwin Bell with giving him a full understanding of Canadian football in his first year as a position coach when he knew nothing about the game.

Got it, pack anything illicit in pockets above your waistline. Good to go. 👍

They brought Feltmate in before MCI was injured, so I guess they deemed him unprepared for the FB role which seems odd. -

Even top US colleges will give borderline learners the opportunity to improve by initially accepting them, when they don't make the grades in their first year or two they end up moving on to obscure smaller colleges or the Jr. College system where academic achievement is not remotely important. In cases of extraordinary athletes a college will assign a personal tutor to help struggling players along, but you probably know how that works out, the tutor ends up completing most of the assignments. -
That's a pretty harsh statement, what evidence do you have to condemn him?

Rourke probably hasn't been in a relaxed state of mind for many years with the numerous tryouts he's endured, once he gets past the stress of performing, his performance is likely to improve immensely. -

Really depends on the education they expect to receive if it's a consideration at all, if it's only football they care about they'd never be accepted by a Canadian University in the first place, their only Canadian option would be Jr. football. In the US as long as a player can read, he can play football as long as he's a benefit to the organization that will house and feed him. -

Get real he's going to be very good, he completed 78.7% of his passes in 2022 along with the longest avg. completion, compared to Collaros and every other QB below 70% that year. You don't enhance your credibility as some kind of expert when you can't pick up on the obvious. -

It'll be good for Jones to leave behind the co-ordinators and hangers on he drags around with him wherever he goes, often thought they were highly deficient performing their duties. -
I'm the last person to provide sound technical advice, but if he downloads or purchases a VPN he can disguise his location and pretend he's watching CFL football in Sveeden or Czechsolovakia. Nord VPN can purchased on sale for $3-$4 per month. One question, did he sign up with an email account with CFL.ca? That is the first step.

Watch some of Jones post game pressers, can't help but love the guys honesty, he's the opposite of O'Shea. -

Could be Doman influencing football ops, he's invested in Rourke and wants to get the return started asap, a young guy with big money rarely shows patience or respects process. He knew he wasn't winning this game with Dolegala anyway and Rick Campbell isn't the guy to argue with him on any level. -
Sure, his days of covering receivers downfield are in the past, as they should be.
-
Younger seems to be content to let BA play more traditional Safety lately which has worked out better for all, he's no longer blitzing the QB or coming up to fill gaps every second play, they are using other personnel to fill these roles.
