If Flanders could return kickoffs, punts or backup all receiver positions better than Lankford, he would have been in there doing it right out of TC. I'm all for keeping Flanders in the game for the extra dimension he adds but the switch out of Dressler with Thorpe is a far easier solution. Thorpe is a rookie with a promising future but his performance in Mtl. was less than stellar, it's not going to damage him or the offence to have him step back and learn the game from Dressler. I don't know where people get the idea that Lankford is a bad receiver, he plays the wide-out and runs deep patterns which are not targeted frequently in LaPo's playbook. Does it make Lankford a bad receiver if Nichols only gambles with the deep ball 2-3 times a game?

Please don't use the word logical in your post, it hurts my brain.

It's up to LaPo to take full advantage of the two RB's skill sets as he did in Edm. 3-4 touches a game is not enough to get a RB going, he has to double that to be effective, rewards are reaped later in the game from a tired out D.

Lankford also prevented a TD by chasing down the Als returner, which is a play O'Shea tends to take note of.

I thought this was a closed practice? In retrospect I guess it's pretty hard to keep a ghost out.

Yep, this stuff goes on all the time down there but it rarely gets reported by the media. -
3 stars + HH Heart stopping OT edition

I don't think that's that the same as the "coach's challenge" though, with the yellow flags and all. They may have been using video replay to confirm TD's and turn-overs and a coach could call for a measurement but I think that is as far as it went. -

There were definitely no coach's challenges back in 2007, the rule was introduced in 2015. -
With LeFevour, Harris and Flanders in the backfield they should be very good at two pt. conversions.

A Rider blowout could only occur if the Bomber offence fell apart completely and started giving the ball away, frankly I don't see it. I actually hope the Bombers do not build up a 2 TD lead in the first half as the wheels inevitably fall off in those situations and they lose momentum far too frequently. Keep it close, keep focused and they should sneak out of town with two points.

The Most Important Game: Wpg @ Regina

The 25-year-old native of Costa Rica, who grew up in Montreal, was Toronto's fifth-round pick, 38th overall, in the 2011 CFL Canadian college draft out of Laval. -

If the Bombers can stay on track they should be able nail down second place while BC and Esks. fall by the wayside and scrap with the Riders for 3rd and 4th. -
Not sure whether blaming Hurl or Knox helps but this D did not look good against the Als at all. Sitting Poop was an immensely bad decision and I hope it never ever happens again. Didn't matter the situation in the 4th Q and in O.T. the Als accomplished whatever they needed to and the D had no answers until Randle finally stepped up and put an end to the nonsense. Very concerned about the LD match and can see the Riders eviscerating this defence in the air and on the ground, hopefully Nichols, Harris and Dressler can provide an effective counterpoint because Hall just doesn't have the balance of solid personnel to cover the holes, imo.

Flying High into Montréal: Bombers vs. Als
Fatty Liver replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The potential for this dual backfield offence isn't something they discovered just yesterday, much to my chagrin it's been laying dormant since the beginning of last season, suppressed by the ratio. -
No way O'Shea gets rid of any of his team leaders to upgrade talent unless they're failing, it's just not in his DNA. Nichols, Harris and Dressler are a few of the untouchables, but I suspect many others that are playing well are protected by his loyalty and commitment. He's going to the dance with the girls that got him there, not some flashy new tart chasing greenbacks.

Not really, Jake handed the ball off to Knox who took it the distance. -

Could be, I've noticed their 3 man rush crew is Westerman, Corney and Jeffcoat so Corney is helping balance the ratio as well. -

Who is Hurl rotating with? He seems to be out there for every play either at MLB or WIL. It certainly hasn't been the case of Hurl "or" Thomas, they're on the field together plenty of times. -
I can't see Walters having spare change for any F.A. at this time of the year, he will need every penny to retain the good players he already owns.
-
I don't think he does, Neufeld is getting a bit of playing time coming in as the 6th OL and on short yardage.
