  1. I thought LB Alex Hoffman-Ellis had great potential when he was with BC a couple of years ago but I believe he's been through two other rosters since then so he's probably hasn't lived up to his potential.
  2. I don't buy the notion that BLM or Ray can produce victories on their own, throw them into a **** storm with no O-line and I think the results would be predictable. QB's that can produce victories on their own may be limited to Collaros and Reilly when they're at the top of their game.....but I don't really buy that either, football is a team game. A good team will make Nichols "look" like an elite QB.
  3. Understandable, they were expecting both Franklin and Adams to be gifted to them and got flustered when it did not happen.
  4. I disagree, if Nichols can put up a couple of 12+ win seasons, he will qualify as an "elite" QB. Kevin Glenn has spent much of his long career struggling to achieve .500, not entirely his fault but that's how the cookie crumbles.
  5. What impresses me about Walters management style is that he's balancing the draft picks with the SMS plan as well. He seems to be on top of that aspect of the game unlike many other GM's who fill their pot and deal with the economics later on, not at all, or white wash the books by inventing new ways to cheat.
  6. If the Bombers can win their seasonal series against the Stamps, Esks. and Lions anything is possible. Until they can do that consistently they're middle of the pack contenders imo. Key is Nichols stepping up into the elite QB category with improved red-zone performance and 2 or 3 dangerous receivers so that Medlock doesn't have to set scoring records to salvage victories. Other improvements have to come from Hall's pass defence so that they're not giving up miles of uncontested real-estate.
  7. Got to love this approach, let North and South Korea work out the "Korean problem" if East and West Germany can be unified, so can Korea. Washington is ramping up military, economic and diplomatic pressure on North Korea, and insisting that other countries do the same. It wants to thwart Kim Jong-un, who has vowed to develop a nuclear warhead with which to hit the U.S. mainland. His missile program has made huge strides in the past year, despite frequent accidents and failures. The U.S. has now even threatened a pre-emptive strike to stop him. On the other hand, Moon — a liberal lawyer whose parents fled the North during the Korean War — has been proposing something very different. His policy is to revive a so-called Sunshine Policy from 20 years ago that stressed neighbourly co-operation over confrontation. At that time, South Korea wooed the North with billions in humanitarian and economic aid in a failed effort to prevent its weapons program from gathering momentum. Moon's version has been dubbed Sunshine 2.0. It advocates reopening a joint North-South industrial zone, closed last year after North Korea tested missile after missile in defiance of UN demands that it stop. Moon has suggested the rebirth of the Kaesong zone could even be the first step in a long-term plan to reunify the economies of the two countries. In the short term, it would provide North Korea with much-needed foreign cash, perhaps contrary to tough international economic sanctions mandated by the UN Security Council. And it would certainly go against the efforts of U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Before the Security Council last month, he predicted "catastrophic consequences" unless all countries "put new pressure on North Korea to abandon its dangerous path." http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/south-korean-election-1.4104126
  8. We musta won the draft.
  9. Anyone know if TSN is going to make the draft available on their website without the subscription login?
  10. Judge may eventually become a good Natl. Lb but will he be as good as an import LB that he'd be replacing? Time will tell.
  11. One interesting comment that Walters made in his pre-draft interview was with the current salary demands of first round draft picks it is difficult SMS wise to invest in two additional players for development further on down the road. I take from this that one of the two first rounders has to become a replacement player, sooner rather than later or that they will go with a depth player and pay him accordingly. In this scenario I can see them trading off one of their first two picks for a player that will be able to contribute immediately rather than long-term and as was mentioned earlier in this thread, they'd better pick players that are interested in building a football career over players that are just using their CFL training as a step to a bigger pay day in the NFL. Retaining Chungh was fortunate but his decision to stay may be the exception to the rule with current and future draft picks.
  12. The CFL draft is littered with the names of Canadian players that never lived up to their full potential. Simonise sounds like the classic example of an underachiever, all the physical talent in the world but......
  13. Hell, next year's draft could be just as much of a crap shoot as this years. If there is a better draft class available the NFL will dip all the deeper to scoop the prime prospects leaving the CFL with the secondary remains again. This is becoming a serious problem for the CFL to navigate.
  14. Which is the complete opposite of what Geoff Gray has said, unfortunately he inexplicably grew up a Rider fan. "Interestingly the Gray family are all diehard CFL fans and none of them — including Geoff — have ever shown much interest in the NFL. “The kids were Rider fans,” Bob said. “They used to paint themselves up in face paint, Rider flags on their faces and they got all the cereal boxes and the Kleenex boxes and all the Rider gear. Every time we went to Regina or passed through, they’d pick up Rider stuff. They just liked the Riders.” As for Bob and Sharleen, they’d be just as happy to see Geoff playing for the Blue and Gold. “If he gets picked up by the Bombers in the draft (on May 7), there’s always that option later on,” Bob said. “If it doesn’t work out (in the NFL) it would be great to have him come here. I always figured he’d make the CFL but NFL is one step higher. His heart is still in Canada for football. He still likes Canadian football.” http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/04/30/canadas-nfl-factory-produces-geoff-gray-latest-member-of-manitoba-bisons-to-get-a-shot
  15. I can remember games were Ray was completing 10-15 passes in a row against the Bombers and running 23 out of 25 completions only because the receivers dropped the occasional ball.
  16. Now what for does he want to do that??? He should be extra busy going over his draft picks and running scenarios endlessly through his head such that he hasn't a spare second to invest in a blab-fest were he inadvertently announces that he has traded Wpg's first draft pick for the rights to Henry Burris should he un-retire. Needless to say the timing makes me EXTREMELY NERVOUS.
  17. As long as Loffler stays healthy unlikely they will entertain the idea of another Natl. in the secondary. They could become competent defenders but neither seems to be the play-maker type the Bombers look for in the backfield.
  18. Kudos to Dobie and the Bisons for improving their football program immeasurably. Gray, Onyemata, Demski, Gill, Coombs, LeFrance, Oramasionwu and hopefully (soon to be Bomber) Evan Foster are demonstrating their football program is producing solid pro prospects. Before Dobie there was very little football talent coming out of the U of M program.
  19. Can't see it, Hitler was a massively popular politician, Trump....not so much.
  20. Can't eat eggs without bacon and in his case it's probably about 2 lbs. worth. I lived in a college dorm with half the football team for one year and learned me some lessons. If you didn't rise early enough to beat those horses to the food trough there was nothing left except for a few cold fish heads and tapioca pudding.
  21. I wouldn't be unhappy with Junior Luke.
  22. Releasing Tenant could be a sign that they're leaning towards Ekakitie. Walters wouldn't likely divulge info. but hard to keep player agents from yapping if they've had preliminary discussions.
  23. Looks like she was the victim of a car crash which claimed the life of two other small children. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/b-c-mayor-heartbroken-after-crash-kills-woman-2-kids-1.3390875
  24. Maybe, but I doubt it. Just goes to emphasis how difficult it is to assess a boat load of talented players in 3 short days in the artificial environment of the mini-camp. Especially receivers and D-backs who have never dealt with the waggle before. In the end they have to cut numbers and do their best to make the right decisions....not easy.
  25. Good point, Ricky Collins was cut last year during mini-camp and he certainly looks like he had enough talent. I think attitude and football smarts plays a huge factor in who O'Shea keeps and who he cuts.
