  1. The air was not exactly filled with catchable passes, the few lucky enough to have one thrown in their direction had to dig them out of the dirt for the most part.
  2. Don't pretend this was the Bombers brilliant decision, they didn't have enough money left over to pay a returner anything more than min. wage.
  3. That's the thing, the draft should be conducted at the pace that suits the football ops. people, not condensed to meet the fickle needs of a viewing audience. Attempting to televise it was a bad idea.
  4. No evidence he ever lost it, playing against Grant in a Grey Cup game would be nerve racking.
  5. Well as long as he can replace Jackson at FB, they come out ahead ratio wise if nothing else.
  6. Get with the program sailor, MCI is the abbreviated name now!
  7. Sure looked like Strev. was picking LaPo plays he knew well out of the playbook in the first preseason game.
  8. Dickie knows his neck is on the line this season, preseason game #1 they weren't messing around with evaluations, they used it to tune up the motor.
  9. Sounds like Case may have gotten injured, too bad he looked like a contender. My bet was on Ontaria Wilson to take the receiver spot, but if they're looking for a bit of Bailey grit, who knows. Maybe they can insert Clercius whenever grit is called for, and go with overall receiving skills other times.
  10. No surprise, which ever rookie comes out on top, likely to be parked on the PR behind Haba and Garbutt.
  11. They have Stanback this season, that's going to make a difference. They've lost 2 years running to the Bombers in the WF, expect to see some changes made to overcome that hump, my bet is 50/50 they climb over it this season.
  12. They should have a viable running game if the O-line can block properly, that would take some of the heat off Harris who has been forced to pass almost every down much of his career.
  13. In that case it might be wise to identify an import RB that can approximate Brady's running style and stick him on the PR for the season in case they need him. Augustine or Rosery aren't capable of sustaining a ground and pound running game and not sure MCI can fill that role either yet. The Riders found a poor man's version of Ouellette in Ratkovich to pound the ball if he goes down, I could see their running game being much improved this season.
  14. Backup QB's to watch, Doege in Edm. seemed to have the composure of Dru Brown, Logan Bonner in Cgy. looked good as well. Taylor Powell in Hamilton will become their starter eventually.
  15. Never liked teams relying on receivers making circus catches to win games, it basically means the guy isn't really that open and the QB is risking possession throwing to a well covered receiver. For Zach, Lawler can be a bit of a crutch, huck it up with the confidence Lawler will always come down with it, doesn't always work. Schoen doesn't have that ability in his tool bag so Zach doesn't risk throwing him any jump balls.
  16. Who cares about the fans or the broadcasters, fans are barely watching exhibition games now and broadcasters are not all that interested in broadcasting them. The radio broadcasters can yap indefinitely, 2 hours prior and 2 hours post game is almost normal for them. The whole purpose of extending exhibition games would be to give teams more game time to evaluate unknown personnel.
  17. Somebody on the Riders forum suggested extending exhibition games to 5 or 6 Q's, I think this would be a reasonable way to give new players extra playing time without adding travel costs or much extra expense. Add another intermission after 60 minutes and play again for an extra 30 minutes. No single player needs to play more than 30 mins. so it should be manageable from a personnel perspective. As for the fans in attendance as long as they realize it's a casual affair they can come and go as they wish.
  18. Ex Bomber RB Ronnie Brown looking super ordinary for the RedBlacks.
  19. Don't see much progression in Crums's game, he is what he's always been, a white bread and butter sandwich. He'd make a decent backup but that's about it.
  20. Stumbled upon this guys gamecast last week, the amazing thing is the crazy bastard has 1.1k following him. It's so bad it's actually entertaining.
  21. Not so much, they had Nevis for at least 2 years prior and Poop Johnson had one good year before Stove came along.
  22. Thanks one specific link that works, whoever manages that site needs to be fired.
  23. Can't find the door, only see the link to last weekends game!
  24. You're correct Rutledge, Darby and Lawrence all kind of slipped away with no obvious diminishment in their play, much goes on that the eye can not see and no clear explanation is ever provided.
  25. There is no explanation for Rutledge being demoted, he played well on the field, so it must have been something that happened off the field in the realm of FIFO.
