Etch is a Don Cherry in waiting, absolutely unfiltered which is somewhat refreshing compared to the mono-speak drone that emanates from the CFL talking heads, coaches and athletes. He may be a half step off crazy but he's funny as hell.

I walked to a game from Transcona once and by the time I got there the game was over, worst of all I found out on the walk back home they moved the stadium to Fort Gary. I can't walk that far! Those people are idiots. I told Bob Irving and he said "ok". -

I agree with the chimpanzee, although it's not such a problem in Wpg. the entire league has to stop trying to appeal to the corporate suits and focus on affordable family entertainment to build generational fans, much as the Goldeyes have. Below is an except from an article that discusses the Argo marketing problems, although it's specific to T.O. it also applies to cities like Vancouver and Calgary where the populace is becoming too "big league" to bother following the CFL. http://www.torontosun.com/2016/11/21/can-the-cfl-survive-in-toronto. Wright, who was CFL commissioner from 2002-2006, views the quandary of Argos football as multi-faceted. “I think there are three fundamental reasons why Toronto football is where it is. The brand just doesn’t resonate,” said Wright, a long-time marketer. “The Grey Cup brand doesn’t resonate (in Toronto). The Argos brand. The CFL brand. “One, there is core competition in Toronto that doesn’t exist anywhere else in Canada. There is NHL, NBA, baseball, MLS. It’s an incredibly competitive market. There’s no longer a threat of the NFL and still that hasn’t changed anything. “Two, we’re a snotty sports city. We think of ourselves as a big deal. This isn’t, to use Tim Leiweke’s phrase, a bloody big deal. An Argos game isn’t the place to be. “Three, if you look at what’s happened to the franchise and the marketing of it, previous ownership let it go. They put nothing into sales, nothing into marketing. Look at how little David (Braley) spent to market the brand and the team. He turned off all the taps in Toronto. How do you recover from that? -
Trade Barker & Milanovich for O'Shea & Walters?

Money should not be a problem with MLSE now owning the club, rumour has it they have a bag or two. -
His schematics would be mind bottling.

TSN should hire Etchevery for "Coach's Playbook" for entertainment value alone.
-
In the end it's all about entertainment value and the Stamps provide that consistently year after year.
-
Pretty much the same way the Stamps found him, keep an eye on smaller schools that don't go all in on the pre-programmed NFL model QB that give smaller QB's the chance to play and develop. The CFL has a long history of finding a place for this type of QB from Lancaster on up, while the preprogrammed NFL style QB's like Willy and Brohm can't adapt and flunk out.

Didn't seem like he yelled at them, simply told a camera man to "get out of my way", this was a few seconds before taking the field when he was trying to find space to throw a few quick warmup passes. With the huge zoom lenses they have on these cameras no reason to get up in the players faces or interfere with their movement at all.

If I recall correctly from an article I read, BLM was not getting much interest from the NFL when he was in College due to his height, only 6'-2". His agent, who also represents Nichols convinced him the best route to playing football soon was to go directly to the CFL and forego the NFL tryout circuit, which he did. That's why he's starter at 25, unlike most QB's that come up to the CFL after exhausting opportunities in the NFL for 2-3 years.

Sounds like Chungh might not be a free agent

They might want to ask Dressler about accepting deferred salary before they proceed. Riders screwed him royally.
