  1. Crimony Dee, takes me 3 days and 6 naps to finish reading all that. Good job!
  2. I wish I'd known, I drove through that wasteland last week and could have pulled you out. Sorry.
  3. It's Just another game and just another chance to change the course of history. Bombers make history in Regina REGINA - The streak is over. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers kicked off the 2015 CFL regular season tonight by beating the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium for the first time since 2004, snapping an 11 game losing streak in Regina. Bombers quarterback Drew Willy was spectacular, Paris Cotton ran roughshod over a banged up Riders defence, Saskatchewan lost starting quarterback Darian Durant for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon, and the Bombers emerged with a 30-26 triumph on a hot and sticky night in the Saskatchewan capital. “It is different. I felt like I was the most excited one on the field at the end of the game. Guys don't understand how important this was and how big that was to get this win. My first year we went to the Grey Cup. We came here 7-1, expecting to win and got our butts kicked for the next couple weeks. “It's something that's huge. It's something that's really huge and something we can definitely feed off of going into game two.” Winnipeg will play its home opener on Thursday night against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who lost a heart breaker in Calgary on Friday night when Rene Paredes drilled a 50-yard field goal as time expired. The Bombers not only won the game in front of 32,288 spectators, but their West Division rival Roughriders and Edmonton Eskimos both lost their starting quarterbacks on a carnage filled first Saturday in the CFL. Aside from Durant suffering a season ending injury for the second straight year, Eskimos starter Mike Reilly left their loss to Toronto with what looks like a serious left leg injury. So Winnipeg is 1-0 and it still has a healthy starting quarterback. All in all, it was a good trip next door for the Blue and Gold. Willy completed 22 of 25 attempts for 325 yards and three touchdowns. Cotton, meanwhile, juked and jived his way to 108 rushing yards on 13 carries behind Winnipeg's rebuilt offensive line. “We were just being efficient,” Willy said. “Being able to run the football, more lanes open up. You gotta give credit to the O line, Paris Cotton and Cam Marshall. All these guys are really helping us out, and the receivers made plays. “It's fun to be a part of a club with players and coaches that really believed we were going to win this game.” The Bombers trailed 26-23 with 10 minutes to go, but they re-took the lead three minutes later when Nick Moore hauled in an 18-yard touchdown toss from Willy. It was Moore's first touchdown in 10 games as a member of the Bombers. “I told you,” Moore said. “I told you all I was going to score the first game. I had a chip on my shoulder.” Marshall, who is the Thunder in Winnipeg's two tailback system, had two touchdowns, including a 14-yard reception and a two-yard run. Cotton hauled in a six-yard touchdown toss from Willy to open the game's scoring in the first quarter. Durant suffered his injury late in the second quarter just after throwing a pass and without being touched. The Green and White signed Kevin Glenn in the off-season, and that now becomes the CFL's most important off-season acquisition. Glenn and the Riders came out firing at the start of the third quarter down 15-14. After Lirim Hajrullahu's opening kick went out of bounds and Khalil Bass had backup Kevin Glenn's first pass go through his hands, Jerome Messam steamrolled 53 yards for the go-ahead touchdown. Glenn found Chris Getzlaf in the end zone for the two point convert, and the Riders led 22-15. The Riders marched again, but they lost some serious momentum when Chris Milo whiffed on a 36-yard field goal attempt and had to settle for a single. Bombers receiver Rory Kohlert dressed for the game but didn't play. He missed the last two days of practice with an undisclosed injury and was replaced in the starting lineup by Kris Bastien. Willy sounded relieved to finally get a victory in the Queen City, even though he lost only once in Regina last season after coming over from the Green and White. “Last year they had the upper edge on me, and it hurt the whole entire off-season,” he said. “I have great respect for that team. “I'm just happy that we could get a win here, and then the media can stop talking about us not winning here since 2004.” http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/06/27/bombers-make-history-in-regina
  4. Back in the days of black-outs (circa. early-mid 70's) it was common for many Bomber games to be un-televised both home and away. Living outside the city it was fortunate if I could attend 3-4 home games per year. Thus I spent a lot of time listening to Bob on CJOB and wish to thank him for every minute of it, he is the best.
  5. **** the history. I expect the Bombers to crush the Riders in both the LDC and the BB this year. It will mark the start of a new era of winning football in Wpg. and I see no reason they should lose either game to those corrupted bottom-feeders.
  6. I'm through with reading the Rider forum, it used to be mildly amusing and a good place to pickup on CFL news as there are so many active posters. In the last while there is virtually no football discussion and it has turned into abusive attacks against anyone that doesn't fully support Chris Jones and his unethical management style, which the Mods. accept blindly. The place is teaming with unsavoury ass clowns.
  7. There was also a kerfuffle last season about Jones and the Esks. delaying their entrance until after the anthem. Jones is a "grade A" **** disturber. "If you don't accept punishment with contrition you will receive more, ya little bastard" Mother
  8. What did you guys do with Adrian Hubbard? Searched the roster and no listing, unless I'm mistaken they brought him in last week?
  9. A team was warned about doing that last season, can't remember if it was the Riders or the Esks.
  10. The much beleaguered scouting staff delivered in spades this year, and should be congratulated, Bond, Foketi, Fogg, Frederick, a slew of talented receivers and DE prospects and all accomplished without employing 200 scouts.
  11. Either way, I like this version of Mike O'Shea better.
  12. Didn't look like it was Goosen's fault but O'Shea was raging on the sideline. Morgan was front and center (again) but it looked like it was directed at the whole team. Odd.
  13. Same with Durie, hard to believe how much they are under using these two guys. Once Ray and the Argos 3 big receivers return they will be a different team, the rematch in week 13 will be a good test for the Bombers pass D.
  14. To quote Norm MacDonald "that Charles Manson was a real jerk".
  15. You can bet other GM's are angry with the Riders and will force Orridge to keep a sharp eye on their future accountability. Having a rogue coach who doesn't follow rules "closely" is one thing but when that person continues the same lack of respect for rules as the head of an organization that is a completely different matter, The head drives the organization and ethics and standards he deems acceptable are passed on down through all subordinates. At this point both Jones and Murphy are being exposed as being dishonest and deceitful. This could well blow up in Jones face and despite his football savvy if reports of infractions continue to come out the Riders Board may decide it is in the best interest of their team and reputation to relieve him of his managerial position. At that point I would expect that Jones would chose to relinquish his coaching position and move on with his pursuit of an NFL coaching career leaving a red-hot mess in Sask. in his wake.
  16. Therein lies the problem, the league relies on self-enforcement and the "old boys network" ensures that the rules are constantly skirted. If a GM chooses to follow the rules to the letter he puts himself at a competitive disadvantage.
  17. The CFL is a small league with only 9 teams, so why in HELL can they not agree upon rules that work for all teams and enforce them strictly. Everything from player and coach tampering, to unwritten rules about PR untouchables, IR's full of fake injuries and extra players hanging about seems to be accepted forms of cheating which makes the CFL look unprofessional. If they want to carry 100 player rosters with 20 player PR's then agree upon it and do so. if they want to continue to tamper then do so, but first put the reality into the rule book so it doesn't make the league look like it is run completely without ethics.
  18. I swear Sears is about the 4th player the Riders cut after TC only to bring back a couple of weeks later. I'm betting Marte never actually left Regina and was probably being paid to hang around, kind of like the old taxi squad model.
  19. Darrin Bauming Retweeted Drew Edwards ✔ @scratchingpost Some levity from #Ticats Kent Austin in explaining his absence yesterday. "I had to get a lobotomy. You'd think after the last game, right?"
  20. Hopefully it doesn't come down to this, as O'Shea has the most to lose if Willy can't pick up the slack.
  21. Compromise, Walters digs out his big brass balls and summons Willy to his office prior to game #10 puts a gun to his head and demands that he stop stealing food from the mouth of Clarence Denmark's baby(ies). Chop chop problem solved, takes the spotlight off Willy and a ridiculous contract that makes him the highest paid backup in the history of the CFL. Like it or not Willy will be working for drastically less money from this point onward, he had his chance to grasp the golden ring and fumbled it under the lights at center field.
  22. Never mind Heenan, tying up Chungh for 2-3 more years is time and money well spent.
  23. Other teams somehow manage to find out what their young QB's can show in game without throwing them into the red hot frying pan. Last game was the perfect opportunity to give Davis some game action during almost 2 Q's of garbage time without jeopardizing the outcome. Nichols accomplished little and some game reps. could have benefited Davis greatly and helped the Bombers along in their evaluation process. If Willy is sent packing in the off-season it would be wise to have a good understanding of what Davis and Bennett have to offer as number two's and potential number one's before this season closes out.
  24. Of course there is a decision to be made, even if Walters takes no action before game #10 that constitutes a decision he has made to continue on with Willy.
