  1. The much beleaguered scouting staff delivered in spades this year, and should be congratulated, Bond, Foketi, Fogg, Frederick, a slew of talented receivers and DE prospects and all accomplished without employing 200 scouts.
  2. Either way, I like this version of Mike O'Shea better.
  3. Didn't look like it was Goosen's fault but O'Shea was raging on the sideline. Morgan was front and center (again) but it looked like it was directed at the whole team. Odd.
  4. Same with Durie, hard to believe how much they are under using these two guys. Once Ray and the Argos 3 big receivers return they will be a different team, the rematch in week 13 will be a good test for the Bombers pass D.
  5. To quote Norm MacDonald "that Charles Manson was a real jerk".
  6. You can bet other GM's are angry with the Riders and will force Orridge to keep a sharp eye on their future accountability. Having a rogue coach who doesn't follow rules "closely" is one thing but when that person continues the same lack of respect for rules as the head of an organization that is a completely different matter, The head drives the organization and ethics and standards he deems acceptable are passed on down through all subordinates. At this point both Jones and Murphy are being exposed as being dishonest and deceitful. This could well blow up in Jones face and despite his football savvy if reports of infractions continue to come out the Riders Board may decide it is in the best interest of their team and reputation to relieve him of his managerial position. At that point I would expect that Jones would chose to relinquish his coaching position and move on with his pursuit of an NFL coaching career leaving a red-hot mess in Sask. in his wake.
  7. Therein lies the problem, the league relies on self-enforcement and the "old boys network" ensures that the rules are constantly skirted. If a GM chooses to follow the rules to the letter he puts himself at a competitive disadvantage.
  8. The CFL is a small league with only 9 teams, so why in HELL can they not agree upon rules that work for all teams and enforce them strictly. Everything from player and coach tampering, to unwritten rules about PR untouchables, IR's full of fake injuries and extra players hanging about seems to be accepted forms of cheating which makes the CFL look unprofessional. If they want to carry 100 player rosters with 20 player PR's then agree upon it and do so. if they want to continue to tamper then do so, but first put the reality into the rule book so it doesn't make the league look like it is run completely without ethics.
  9. I swear Sears is about the 4th player the Riders cut after TC only to bring back a couple of weeks later. I'm betting Marte never actually left Regina and was probably being paid to hang around, kind of like the old taxi squad model.
  10. Darrin Bauming Retweeted Drew Edwards ✔ @scratchingpost Some levity from #Ticats Kent Austin in explaining his absence yesterday. "I had to get a lobotomy. You'd think after the last game, right?"
  11. Hopefully it doesn't come down to this, as O'Shea has the most to lose if Willy can't pick up the slack.
  12. Compromise, Walters digs out his big brass balls and summons Willy to his office prior to game #10 puts a gun to his head and demands that he stop stealing food from the mouth of Clarence Denmark's baby(ies). Chop chop problem solved, takes the spotlight off Willy and a ridiculous contract that makes him the highest paid backup in the history of the CFL. Like it or not Willy will be working for drastically less money from this point onward, he had his chance to grasp the golden ring and fumbled it under the lights at center field.
  13. Never mind Heenan, tying up Chungh for 2-3 more years is time and money well spent.
  14. Other teams somehow manage to find out what their young QB's can show in game without throwing them into the red hot frying pan. Last game was the perfect opportunity to give Davis some game action during almost 2 Q's of garbage time without jeopardizing the outcome. Nichols accomplished little and some game reps. could have benefited Davis greatly and helped the Bombers along in their evaluation process. If Willy is sent packing in the off-season it would be wise to have a good understanding of what Davis and Bennett have to offer as number two's and potential number one's before this season closes out.
  15. Of course there is a decision to be made, even if Walters takes no action before game #10 that constitutes a decision he has made to continue on with Willy.
  16. So it looks like game #10 is Walters deadline to come to a decision on Willy's future. I don't think he would use any money saved to bring in new players but could use it to re-up some of his current players he wants to hold through next year. He has a handful of very good new players that are probably playing for close to the league minimum.
  17. Walters can sit, watch and wait for now but because of the size of Willy's game day pay-cheque I think he has to have a plan of action ready to roll and a countdown date in mind for dealing with Willy. Unfortunately for Willy his contract has potentially sealed his fate, much as it did for Clarence and many of the vets. cut loose in the off-season. Performance has to be measured against price and hard numbers may disguise the real story but ultimately tell no lies. Accounting 101: Fish or cut bait.
  18. Are you talking about fishing or picking up beotches down at the lake?
  19. This is kind of unrelated but when a player like Fogg agrees to return punts does he receive an incentive payment? I would think jeopardising ones health and a starter's position to help out on teams should have some reward.
  20. Holy Christ, what a prima donna. This should dispel all thoughts that Burris would be a good fit in Wpg. he would be an unmitigated disaster,
  21. Shoulder injury is terrible news for an O-lineman, it could be awhile before Hardrick can play again. Foketi up!
  22. I don't think anyone would have predicted that the D would start playing as well as they have since the Edm. game with a decimated secondary, that's the real story. If the O can consistently produce 20-25 points a game they should be in every contest. ST has also played a huge role securing great field position and basically shutting down all returns.
  23. Derek Jones deserves a shout as well, he's been great all season but especially noticeable in the last game with the punt block. Time for Jones to graduate from ST's and be given a shot as a starter, if not in Wpg. than elsewhere in the CFL.
  24. As stated before Lirim wasn't cut, he went to F.A. Walters said a few times that he intended to re-sign him but couldn't get his signature on a contract for whatever reason. After his successful first season there was a narrative that Lirim intended to give the NFL a shot, so he had no long-term plans with the Bombers anyway.
