Yep, times are a changing and with globalization and massive marketing budgets people place less and less emphasis on CDN. culture and institutions. Younger fans migrate to what's biggest and perceived as best and lose perspective on what they have in their own back-yard and why it's important to Natl. and local identity. Grumpy old men are destined to become even grumpier.

Good point, Rory Kohlert has not received a single look in two games, might as well do away with his position and turn it into something useful.

I can see Willy eventually ending up n T.O. as a replacement for Ray but I don't really expect that to happen anytime soon....maybe next off-season. It would be a good fit for Willy as he would get to work under Milanovich who seems to be very good at grooming QB's and working beside Ray wouldn't do him any harm. As for assets coming back to Wpg. from the Argos, no idea really, as they don't seem to have any developing QB's that are attractive at this time, which might spur their interest in Willy. At best Ray has 2 years left, and in that time Willy should be able to pull his act together and become a good starting QB, with better command of the game, I just don't think it's going to happen in Wpg.. The way this season is shaping up the tide is turning on Willy and he is going to endure some painfully embarrassing moments at IGF that may not be forgotten or forgiven as fan patience has expired.

Riders acquire Matt Sewell a Natl. O-lineman from T,O. I wonder if the Bombers were aware this guy was available as this is an area of deep need.

I thought Mitchell Gale looked good early last year when he was competing with Harris for the backup job in T.O. but since that time he has been cut and ended up this season on the Argo's PR. I think he has potential but he won't offer a quick solution in Sask.

When I initially looked at the brutal schedule this year I pretty much expected the Bombers to emerge form the first seven games with a 1-6 record being pitted against the 3 strongest clubs in the CFL two times each. With a huge turn over in personnel it is a bit wishful to think that they are going to find ways to beat teams that they perpetually lose to. The bloody schedule maker needs be investigated for a green family tree IMO. With all the hype of TC, the new talent added to the roster and a new OC I had some hope that this would be the year that they were able to finally slay some of their dragons and steal a few wins emerging with a record of aprox. 3-4. It doesn't look to be in the cards this early in the season so it's time to revert to default plan and hope that they can progressively learn and improve through these early games to emerge as a capable team ala the 2014 Esks., Even if their record ends up being 1-6, if they can perform well over the easier second half of the schedule and eek out a play-off spot my expectations will be on track with what I initially hoped for last Dec.

How we go 16 - 2 the rest of the way ...

Could be Davis or Bennett is the next QB in line but the team has to give them playing opportunities to prove what they can do. -

Thank God for small mercies. -
I think that is Willy's real problem, not being able to process what he sees in front of him fast enough, If you watch Collaros, Reilly or Mitchell when they come up to the line their heads are on swivels as they absorb everything before them. Willy does not look around that much, it seems more like he is trying to remember the set play rather than dealing with the situation on the field. It could go right back to the training he received coming up as many US Colleges use a "plug and play" pocket passer system that is designed to quickly replace the starting QB every 2-3 years. In College ball it is easier to protect a QB with good athletic throwing ability than it is to teach them how to think and learn all the complexities of running an offence. So you get automatons like Rob Johnson playing over QB's like Doug Flutie because they are easier to program and build an offence around.

Kind of reminds me of the scenario when they traded Brock to Hamilton for Clements. Brock was a great QB but he never managed to win anything, whereas Clements was less skilled but a better game manager with a previous GC ring in his pocket. The results were immediate as Clements led the Bombers to their first GC victory since 1962.

If Willy puts on the same show next weekend at home my guess is that IGF is going to turn into a howling mad house before the first half is complete. The reception could scar Willy for life and cause their other 3 QB's to announce their retirement immediately to avoid being thrown to the wolves. -
Which one?

Ya know, there is only one Messam in the league and the Bombers could have picked him up at least twice in the last 3 years for a song plus a nickel. Instead they wanked over his personality disorder and he proceeds to run them into the ground repeatedly. I wouldn't be surprised if he accumulated 500 yds a season just against the Bombers, it's not much of a stretch. The best defence against Messam is to have the big ****** on their side of the ball!

The Bombers could have numerous receivers reach one-thousand yards this season if they can continue to lull their opponents into a false sense of security prior to the half.

It's unanimous.
