  1. It's not a stretch to say that one wouldn't affect the other, now would it? Wouldn't affect play design as much as the order of the reads and the decisions of the QB pre-snap. You're still talking theory about play design.I want to know if anyone saw shorter, same depth route runs, as in what actually was run during the games, not how it theoretically should be. You saw all kind of routes when Willy was playing, but less so after he was out. Based on 10 games I would assume. Did anybody else notice route running? The answer to your question is yes, there were instances (multiple instances) where receivers were running routes to the same depth .. where receivers were in the same vicinity .. where there was nobody to drive a defender off to clear up the underneath route. Whether that's the play design or the receivers running poor routes .. I'll leave that to others to speculate on .. it did occur. I'm not the only one who noticed this. If receivers were getting deeper on routes when Willy was playing it was because he often held onto the football for a good 2 seconds longer than the other QB's dared. Re-watching some of this years games shows that he will often step up to avoid the rush and then hold the ball for an additional 2 seconds before attempting a pass. The problem with this is that he is locked in a collapsing pocket with predictable results. Willy is brave but foolhardy and for the good of all that has to change.
  2. That ticket was meant for the guy whos cleans the garbage cans! I seen that movie on TV onced.
  3. Hey Vanessa, how bout you put out the cash and do the job right!!! Relying on volunteers is a recipe for inaccuracy. The CFL has to progress beyond their community club business model and pretend to be a professional organization.
  4. I imagine to pull Murphy away from the Stamps they're paying him in the ball-park of $400,000, Jones at $600,000+ add in $250,000 to keep O'Day around and two more years of paying Chamblin and Taman $750,000 to stay away. That pay-roll is enough to make the accountant's eyes water.
  5. lol why? Craig Smith is horrible. The only team that has brought in worse talent than us import wise over the past number of years. I've heard he's quite good on the Canadian side... perhaps my sources were incorrect... I forget where I read it... Maybe here? His resume looks like it was typed by his Mom. Except she forgot the P.S. He's a very nice boy.
  6. Your post makes absolutely no sense at all. Dangerous precedent?? Coaches leave teams all the time for promotions. Its happened many times, only difference this time is the Esks crying about it. We let Ritchie Hall out of his contract to go to Edmonton to be the HC there. We let Kent Austin out of his contract right after we won the grey cup to go coach in the NCAA. Many examples where this has happened. Its pretty rare to see a HC with a contract leave for another team. Hall's move to Edmonton was from assistant to head coach. Austin was leaving the league. Neither of these are the situation Jones was in. Its considered a promotion because of the GM title and so that's why it was allowed, but employed head coaches moving to another team is actually pretty rare. Let me get this straight here. Going from Head Coach to VP of football operations/ General manager and HC is not a promotion in your books? Jones is accountable only to Rider President Craig Reynolds, he is in charge of everything. AND doubled his salary. In my mind I would say that qualifies as a promotion. Nowhere in his entire post does he say it's not a promotion. What I think he's saying (and what I'd agree with) is not that the Jones move should not be allowed, but that any moves like this in the future should at least be tied to some compensation going in the other direction. I understand your position but ask why is this any different than any of the other moves? Because of the effect it's having on the franchise you don't cheer for. I could see the CFL implementing a few guidelines to deal with this situation in their upcoming meetings. The Esks can probably survive the damage done but if there was ever a scenario were a strong franchise decimated a vulnerable franchise of their building blocks it would not be good for the CFL. Interestingly when the CFL first implemented the expense cap it covered a much broader spectrum including scouting, coaching staff and administration, now only the players salaries are capped.
  7. Wonder if O'Day gets stuck with all the administrative duties like Walters did for Mack.
  8. o.k...who is the best choice and why? Someone who hasn't failed here twice already for obvious reasons. Lapo has been stuck on TSN for the last few years, that says something to me about how in demand the guy is. Yeah he's the most experienced candidate out there... but that isn't exactly much to hang your hat on. If you listen to the press-conference LaPo explains his decision making process over the last few years and yes he did have opportunities to coach again.
  9. actually they said they might be reworking that. and westwood pointed out that some assistant coaches probably like the no interviews policy. good press conference. It's interesting that that was brought up and handled. As MOS said, the policy will be discussed and reviewed. I don't have an inkling of what they'll do, although I don't expect them to change it. Having said that...now I know they'll change it, BUT, having just said that... Yes, it was a good interview and we were told 4-5 candidates were considered. LaPo did state that he turned down an org. this weekend. Love to know which team... My guess is OC in BC.
  10. When does the "cone of silence" descend upon LaPo? Maybe it's not too late to teach him the international sign language signal for "help".
  11. I did want Cortez, but he's out of the running now. My second choice wouldn't be PLAP. In fact, I'd go with a guy who's never been an OC over PLAP.I guess my new choice is Chapdelaine. Pretty good track record even last year until he lost both Durrant and Glenn. Jones? Nah, he's not been a good OC. I'd take him as a receivers coach tho. Mass? I think he'll be the Eskie HC. The Redblacks wouldn't even let us interview him for OC. Jackson? Never been an OC. I'd take him over PLAP but, I'd rather have him as a QB coach. I'm good with either Chaps or Lapo. The last time Lapo was here, he doesnt have a good and durable QB. Great, we'll find out tomorrow that Chaps is now jobless. Chaps better choice is to go in Ottawa with a durable Henry Burris. I dont think he will go back in Buono's arm and go to Edmonton with will probably have a rookie-HC and brand new coaching staff. I know people have been saying this for a while now, but Burris is going to be 41 next year. Nobody escapes Father Time forever. I think Ottawa regresses next year. Ottawa lucked out when Collaros was injured, no way they return to the Cup next year. If they're smart they sign Burris's future replacement this off-season if they expect to be competitive in the future. Got to think that Ottawa is the future home of Trevor Harris.
  12. ....and Marcel's mojo was lost forevermore...
  13. Interesting argument. I'd like to read more. What's the source on this? The World's Pals @: http://www.friendsofscience.org/index.php?id=3 This is a far more informative link to the "Friends of Science" activities, compiled by the "Center for Media and Democracy". http://sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Friends_of_Science
  14. Wonder where the hell Moss will find assistants?

  16. Check out "Requiem for A Heavyweight" (1962) which basically recognizes that many boxers sustained major brain damage during their fighting careers. These conditions were first documented in boxers in the late 1920's and the cause has been recognized and acknowledged by the medical profession ever since that time. As long as there is profit to be made from the sacrifices of gladiators and athletes alike, the medical community will be powerless to curtail the entertainment industries access to profits fed by the blood lust of the public.
  17. They did interview Doug Brown and Chris Walby. I know, but for the most part they are not feeling significant effects. Would be interesting to put together a set of questions and cold call 50 or 100 Bombers from the last couple decades and see how they are doing, both in terms of health, finances and otherwise adjusting to real life. That might require the media to actually make a long-distance call....too much like work....not going to happen.
  18. LaPo is great if you like milky toast.
  19. That would be great. Not sure if Khari would come here just to be a QB coach though. He might if he doesn't have any other job offers, especially in BC.
  20. They did interview Doug Brown and Chris Walby.
  21. Edmonton won a cup without Gretzky, I'm sure they'll survive without Jones.
  22. Yes Buck and Lapo could have that awkward conversation about what they were doing in Winnipeg 3 and a half years ago Buck didn't understand what LaPo wanted him to do the first time around so I doubt he would get it now.
  23. Shhhhush now....you'll spoil the surprise..
  24. LOL. I wonder if Picard is open to become an assistant to Wylie.. This is actually a pretty good idea... No thanks, I want no part of MB's past regime and that includes Wylie. Hopefully the new OC brings in his own guys for a fresh start and relieves us of all doubt that maybe the poor O-line play wasn't 100% Marcel's fault.
