  1. Huf would be crazy not to sign Messam for $130.
  2. CFL News ‏@CFL_News Expect very few free agents 2 B rewarded & most of their counterparts to be scrambling to find roster/financial fits. - @HolderGord #CFL If this turns out to be true, it will make next week very interesting. Any extra money added to the pot is migrating to the top of the food chain and that leaves many hopeful free agents having no choice but to sign similar or lower contracts than they left behind in stable employment. In a worst case scenario many could find themselves on the outskirts of a football career. For well established players like Washington this is a big gamble as they have to uproot their lives and try to win favour with a new coaching staff and fit into roles that they may be unfamiliar with for little or no extra money. Once the dust settles I think the CFLPA is going to have to seriously rethink their strategy in order to benefit more of their members and promote continuity within the league. I'd be surprised if next season doesn't see a drastic reduction in the number of players headed to the open market to discover their true valuation.
  3. Billy isn't a F.A., unfortunately he's already hiding out on the Bomber roster.
  4. Smith might get a shot in T.O. now that they're done with Owens.
  5. I thought it was quite strange for the Riders to trade Messam away last year after he had established his value. They basically have no RB's left on their roster from previous years. We'll find out just how many import RB's can be brought in for a dime.
  6. One or the other but not both, too many holes to fill in other positions.
  7. Press conference is now up on the Bomber site. Technology is amazing. http://www.bluebombers.com/2016/02/05/press-conference-kyle-walters-on-free-agency/
  8. Ugh, stupid periscope. They do realize the interview won't archive and will disappear after 24 hours? 24 hours is all it takes for PR guy to run over and upload it live on BomberTV!!
  9. Walters was going to announce some positive developments but he really had nothing much to say. This is not looking like a masterful performance on his part as more holes are opening up on the roster.
  10. If Washington does not come back I can see Adams moving inside and Randle moving back to the corner with Waggoner starting at Safety. Macho is here for his versatility as a backup but will likely end up playing a lot when injuries strike.
  11. Quality of that Periscope feed is terrible. Bombers have a new featured on their site called BomberTV but it's tag line must be "We're not live!"
  12. Here is a link to the press conference. https://www.periscope.tv/w/1eaJbozWXOkxX
  13. #CFL #Bombers GM Walters says team moving on from Hajrullahu, Washington, Pontbriand and Shell.
  14. Walter's press conference should be on right now. Can't find any broadcast of it, even on the Bombers own site.
  15. Jovon wasn't needed two years ago, who is he going to replace now that the Bomber D-backfield is better then it was when he left?
  16. These will probably be the only posts I ever make regarding Sheyon Green. 1. "Who's Sheyon Green?" 2. "Whatever happened to Sheyon Green?" 3. "Why is Sheyon Green playing for the Riders now?"
  17. Agreed, especially when they start to chop prospects to make room on the roster for new signings as TC approaches which they do every year.
  18. The Legend of Effin Eddie
  19. Macho Harris goes on the list of inspired Walter's scrap-heap pickins, which include such greats as: Korey Banks Romby Bryant EJ Kuale Lin-J Shell Chevon Walker
  20. What's he doing with his left hand?
  21. Macho must be a Richie Hall addition, god knows the scouts couldn't find him.
  22. Possibly Hamilton if Medlock walks. Swayze Waters is also headed for F.A. , he struggled with injuries last season but before that he was the best punter in the CFL.
  23. O'Shea never demonstrated any gumption to try for the 2 pt. conversions regardless.
  24. More competition for the CFL. http://www.torontosun.com/2016/01/28/is-lefevours-move-to-mlfb-the-start-of-a-trend MOBILE, ALA. - Well, we now know why Dan LeFevour is no longer in the CFL. The former Ticats and Alouettes quarterback let it be known via social media earlier this week that he had asked Montreal for his release to get a head start on CFL free agency. Lo and behold, two days later the former Central Michigan gunslinger ended up getting “drafted” as one of the eight “franchise players” in the fledgling Major League Football (MLFB). A few other players who had cups of coffee in the CFL were also drafted as “franchise players” on Wednesday: quarterbacks Casey Pachall and Darron Thomas, and receiver Joe Adams. A few more ex-CFLers were drafted on Thursday. There was a bit of grumbling going on at the Senior Bowl this week from CFL scouts and personnel people who were a little perturbed about how the MLFB is going about its business, which is only natural considering the potential for competition is there. The MLFB says it is going to play 10 games between April and June, and pay its players $2,500 per contest. There are eight teams, although only two U.S. cities have apparently been announced as franchise locations. The league said it has a TV deal in place to broadcast its 40 regular-season contests. Players will be able to leave for the NFL whenever they want, of course, which is something the CFL does not allow. Those who are in charge of finding players for CFL teams are concerned about players getting locked into a league that has yet to announce locations for the bulk of its franchises yet expects to attract 12,000 to 15,000 spectators per game in a couple of months. In the end, the MLFB will likely be just another UFL, XFL and FEFL, which didn’t even play title games in its first (and only) two years of existence but appears to still be technically up and running. American football fans have shown no big appetite for football outside of the NFL and the NCAA, and yet these leagues keep trying. The CFL has no reason to be scared of the MLFB, but it is clearly concerned for players who might get caught up in a league that, like so many before it, might be biting off more than it can chew.
