I would actually be relieved if O'Shea was let go. Heading into next season with the real possibility of achieving the same results is betting too much on "hope" imo. Fan apathy will kick in much quicker next year if the same old, same old, reveals itself early on, and by Labour Day IGF will be as cheerful as a morgue. I just don't think O'Shea knows which buttons to push to motivate this team. Players who should have been fighting for their jobs tonight played like they didn't believe it or just didn't care.

Yeah I have a point, Bucko. I am saying you don't have a clue what security costs, and your entire opinion is politically biased. I am basing that on all of the bullshit you've posted about Harper in the past. But really who cares. The election is over, and I would hate to sound "pissy". When I was working up in Terrace and Chretien was the PM, he spent the entire month of July in his summer getaway in Masset, in the Queen Charlotte Islands. The security detail and costs were enormous for him to be there, and communications alone were a huge challenge. At least, from what I was told by people who were part of the detail and planning at the Masset airport. But you know what, as much as I couldn't stand Chretien, I didn't begrudge him that protection, or the cost. It is what it is. What I would have to ask is was this the only option? Did the Indians not have the vehicles? I would, if I was a leader of a country, rich or poor, ensure that certain security items such as armoured cars or other costly and difficult to ship are on hand for such events. Of course a leader would have to bring a security detail and that is going to be costly but shipping vehicles just seems a bit extreme. I would have the same questions if it was a Liberal or NDP government. In this case I think as much "blame" should be put on the Indian government. I sure hope Canada got some payback for such a large cost :/ So you want to blame India for Harper's decision? Payback??? Really?

That says more about the quality of our receiving corps behind Moore than a compliment to Moore. I would say that the lack of production overall this year by the receivers is more due to the lack of a quality OC and having to use back-up QB's for most of the season. If you were to extrapolate Moore’s numbers for a full 18 games, he would have close to 1100 yards for the season. That would be good enough for 6th overall in the CFL. Moore is not worth the money he is currently getting, but to say that he is not a #1 receiver is just not accurate. Does he deserve #1 money in spite of the fact that he gets injured way too often? That’s another question all together. But I am sure that in his mind and his agents mind, the answer would be yes. Agreed, I don't see anything terribly wrong with the Bombers receivers or RB's, the problems lie elsewhere in the Bombers O.

This is progress. Return of long-form census a win for science, rationality. According to The Toronto Star, Liberal party sources have confirmed that one of the first things the new Justin Trudeau-led federal government will do after being sworn in Wednesday is reinstate the mandatory long-form census. Doing so quickly would mean Statistics Canada could use the long-form questionnaire next spring as part of its 2016 census efforts, thankfully dumping the vastly inferior yet more expensive National Household Survey. The NHS, a bit of ideological idiocy that undermined fact-based decision-making in government, business, health and many other sectors, especially in smaller communities where reliable 2011 data was simply not available, was foisted on the nation by the Tories in 2011. Business leaders, health care professionals, economists, lawyers, educators, provincial and municipal government officials, along with many other groups, decried the former Conservative government’s bizarre 2010 decision to axe the long-form census. The federal auditor general noted that using the voluntary National Household Survey (NHS) in 2011 led to StatsCan being unable to provide reliable data for 25 per cent of communities across Canada. To top it off, the Conservatives, who argued they were better stewards of taxpayers’ money, spent $22 million more on distributing the NHS than it would have cost to simply keep the long-form census. But enough of reasons for why killing the long-form census was a regressive move, a decision defended only by wilfully blind, diehard Harper Conservative backers. In my experience, it’s a waste of time trying to explain to that group why, based on statistical science, voluntary surveys produce inferior, unreliable data compared to a mandatory questionnaire. (Yes, even with the inevitable small percentage of people who purposefully lie when they fill them out). In any case, I imagine there were quite a few people who had voted Conservative in past elections who parted ways with Harper’s party on Oct. 19 over their anti-science, in fact at times anti-rationality, track record — and I’m talking about more than just the census. It always struck me that one of the root meanings of conservatism is being cautious about change. A small “c” conservative is someone who wants solid, rational evidence before accepting the need to disrupt a status quo that seems to work. Someone who wants to carefully weigh what could be lost before plunging ahead. There was nothing small “c” conservative about killing the long-form census. If the reports are true and the Liberals do quickly reinstate the long-form census, it’ll be a welcome signal that rational, science-based decision-making is back in favour in government circles. And, to be fair, I’ll note the NDP have also long called for the reinstatement of the mandatory extended survey. Another thing to watch for will be if, and how fast, the Liberals move on an equally important promise made during the campaign — making Statistics Canada “fully independent,” i.e., operating at arm’s length from government. Again, it should be obvious why it’s vital that the national agency gathering data on a vast range of aspects of Canada, including the economy, unemployment, health and justice conditions, is not perceived as having to “report” to, or follow the dictates of, any particular minister or government. The power of data is strongest when it’s consistent and untainted by perceptions it could be manipulated by the government of the day, regardless of the party is in power. Assuming StatsCan does become an agency of Parliament, that status should provide at least some protection against future governments monkeying around with the census again. Governments yet to be elected could try to take back that independence. But that would require legislation, a step they’d have to take in the open. I think Ray's big contract days are over, would like to see the Bombers ink Ray as a backup QB/OC assistant and work his way up the coaching ranks like Dickenson did in CGY. Ray's experience and assistance with play-calling behind Willy's physical talent could be the ladder the Bombers need to reach the next level of competence. I would be absolutely shocked if Ray is signed as a back up anywhere aside from Toronto... I'm pretty sure Montreal would easily throw money at Ray to start for them. I don't know....maybe Ray will strengthen over the off-season and be fully recovered for next year but I wouldn't be surprised if he never regained his form and the same goes for Lulay.

I think the rules already encourage form tackling and the officials can certainly apply rough play and unnecessary roughness penalties to both high (above the shoulders) and low (knees) hits. It's a change in approach for the officials that needs to happen. The rules are there. The game is derived from rugby and if you don't form tackle in that sport it's an automatic foul. A good example was that hit on Banks yesterday where he literally was clubbed in the head. They made the right call on review, but any clubbing of the head whether or not grasping facemask should see the flags flying from any official with a view of the ballcarrier. I agree, the promotion of form tackling is necessary for the good of the game, take the notion of using excessive force and punishment right out of football before medical science does it for them. Hockey allows body-checking but they penalize any hits that are excessive with boarding or charging penalties. They need to do the same thing in football and not only for the QB but for the RB's and receivers as well. Every game there are at least a couple of missile launch "hits" were the defender leads with his helmet with the sole intention of punishing the ball-carrier. Rugby got it right from the start, a return to arm tackling is needed.
