  1. Those lucrative "Recycle Everywhere" gigs should be enough to tip the scale in favour of Wpg.
  2. I'd take Crompton over Nichols if he was available.
  3. Rick Worman
  4. Was he cut? yes O'Donnel was let our of his contract by EE to pursue the NFL so I would expect they would have some pull on him. He played about 3/4 of the Bengals last game and looked good so he may not be coming North anytime soon. Plus he's plus size.
  5. The curse of Joe Mack lingers on. You must admit, he was right about their talent level.
  6. I'll be happy if Walters signs one of Wild or Muamba but don't expect both.
  7. How about a pretend contender???
  8. Future Bomber scout in the making me thinks.
  9. Holy Jeebus, just thought of this. Cauchy is going to lure him to Edmonton! Too late to say we're sorry to Cauchy???
  10. No way, we got Hurl!!!!
  11. Riders are putting up billboards again. http://www.thesnap.ca/roughriders-back-to-their-billboard-ways/
  12. Als dismiss Schonert, name co-offensive coordinators MONTREAL -- Montreal GM and head coach Jim Popp continues to tinker with the Alouettes coaching staff, dismissing offensive coordinator Turk Schonert Saturday and appointing Anthony Calvillo and Ryan Dinwiddie as co-offensive coordinators. "After taking over the head coaching job two weeks ago, I have had a better chance to evaluate the coaching staff and how they best work together. I have had conversations with owner Bob Wetenhall during this period, and extensive conversations over the last 24 hours," said Popp in a statement. "I feel it is in the best interest of our organization moving forward, to make a change at the offensive coordinator position, and to relieve coach Turk Schonert of his duties. Though we have had injuries and challenges at the quarterback position, we feel we should be getting better production on the scoreboard and better use of the talented group of athletes that have been assembled," added Popp. Maybe Schonert is the offencive consultant the Bombers have been looking for to help Marcel find his way.....out the door! 13. Gale's been in the CFL for 3 seasons and has 21 pass attempts. He was the short yardage QB in 2014 but otherwise has not had regular reps at QB. Marve alone has more on-field experience than Gale. In his three years, Gale has to have been in film sessions, watched games, and even run scout teams, so I stand by my statement about CFL experience. #3 gets zero reps in practice. Unless we have another injury, I'm good with the QBs we have in terms of retreads. I absolutely want out scouting staff out there looking for next year's third string/development guy, but I'm hopeful Nichols can get us through the rest of this season without needing to see the trio of cuts ever again. If Nichols can elevate himself to being an "adequate" replacement for Willy, I can see him remaining on the Bombers roster for a number of year. Much like Drew Tate in Cgy. not necessarily a #1 QB but a decent replacement in emergencies.
  14. Win, lose or draw I don't think any changes are going to be made coaching wise from this point in. The beginning of the bye-week was the best timing to axe MB, Willy out long-term, Nichols starting fresh and the other three QB's not making any progressions within the existing system.
  15. The way Willy kept getting hit it was just a matter of time till he got too hurt to play...really. It's the same story, it was just a matter of time. ...and since nothing has changed in terms of the protection schemes or the personnel, we shouldn't cheer too lustily for Willy's rapid return. Same thing is going to happen again and again, until changes are made. If that doesn't happen, we will wake up one morning to hear a doctor tell us the reasons Willy can't play anymore, and he will take his well-earned seat beside Buck in the spotters box as a former warrior who gave his all for the Bombers and accomplished little.
  16. You're ready to write Marve off after one start? In a thread earlier this week it was noted that Glenn took three years to develop before he showed positive results, same goes for Durant, Reilly and Burris.
  17. That's a pretty good observation. It's like he's the leader, but also one of the boys. He's struggling with no longer being a teammate and with being the boss. His job isn't to be friends with players or to be loyal. His job is to win games. Spot on. O'Shea has to be above the players and the GM has to be above everyone. Without separation their analytical reasoning can be prejudiced and influence the calculated decision making necessary to build a winning regime. Scotty Bowman was never a friend of the players, he was their boss.
  18. Get a grip on reality. In the first blowout vs TiCats Drew Willy was a whopping 3 of 6 for 48 yards and zero TDs. In the next game vs Esks Willy was a masterful 7-17 for 81 yards. Next blowout vs TiCats Willy was 16-27 for 171 yards with one TD and one INT for a pick 6. As Winnipeg's starter Willy produced a total of 8 TDs in 7 games, before his injury. He had virtually the same QB passer rating as rookie Rakeem Cato, who, at that point, had played one less game. Winnipeg's O production has been mostly putrid, with the occasional big-play exception, regardless of who is in at QB since around the the halfway point of last year. Injured. Injured. Injured. Yeah, Doublezero, you really need to check the facts before you post. He got injured in each of those outings like Goalie said. You act like he threw for 48 yards in 4 quarters. And btw, that 171 yards was 2 quarters before he wrecked his knee. So he was on his way to 300. Do you even watch the games? OK here are the actual numbers: in 17 starts in 2014 Drew Willy threw for an average of 224 yards per game. In seven starts in 2015 Drew Willy threw for an average of 161 yards per game, True the 2015 numbers are skewed by Willy's unfortunate injuries in 3 games he couldn't finish. But before you tell me Willy's numbers are through the roof here's a somewhat telling number for you: in 24 games as the Bombers starting QB Drew Willy has thrown 22 TDs and 19 INTS, that's less than one TD per game and not good enough to win consistently in this league. When Bombers won a few games way back at the start of 2014 it was due to big help from special teams and defence scoring points off turnovers. That's the truth. Our production on O and at the QB position has been pretty paltry, Willy included. Good analysis, but statisitcs do not address the times that Willy was playing hurt and/or scared with an O-line which offered the protection of Kleenex and a receiving corps which was, to put it kindly, sub-par and in a cnstant state of flux. And then there was a certain offensive coordinator..... For sure. I was simply responding to the original poster who said Willy often throws for 300 yards. I will say this: I haven't bought a #5 jersey. Whatcha got against Ralph?
  19. Chevy's interview was classic. I only wish he would have stopped mid-sentence and said "I already answered that question 3 times!"
  20. If ever there is to be a moment when Brohm's entire football career flashes before his eyes, it had better be this Sunday when he runs onto the field to start the last game of his professional career.
  21. No, need to whisper, SHOUT!!! "Marcel needs to be gone in the off-season."
  22. Nichols is well known to throw untimely interceptions in the 20-30 yd. range. Luckily Marcel doesn't have any receivers running routes that far down field.
  23. Oooh. My nipples are hard.... Did I miss the Lemon signing? I was going to say the same thing. I don't remember us signing Lemon yet. Don't jump the gun guys. Also Brohm on and starting, with Marve being injured... I don't think that's a guarantee at this moment, really wouldn't be surprised if Davis starts. Honestly, i know it's day 1 but.... at the same time, if Brohm was definitely going to play, wouldn't Oshea say he would be instead of saying it's down to Brohm and Davis really? Report from today's practice have Brohm and Davis taking reps. with completions in the range of 25%.
  24. Gale was cut? Grab him for the PR asap, he's not that far behind Harris in development and he's the same style QB.
