  1. Ya just have to wonder who encourages him to come up with that ****.
  2. Burris is on the board early with a pick6 for EE.
  3. I don't get the point of this post. What does the composition of the current imports on the roster have to do with evaluating Mack's regime vs Walters' regime ability to find impactful imports? Given how quickly imports cycle through the league it's meaningless. I have the same problems with it. Too much turnover on all teams to really focus on the raw numbers, especially give we're 2 years removed from Mack being in charge. Not even taking into account that players that Walters brought in like Peach and Darvin Adams and Stanley Bryant and Chris Randle, and Drew Willy and maybe there's more I'm not thinking of all came from other teams initially anyway and shouldn't be in a discussion about a GMs ability to find guys down south to start with. I thought we were discussing player scouting? Walters or his scouts didn't discover any of the players that you listed. So you just stopped reading or what? Yah, probably.
  4. You're referring to Gibson or Johnson ? Gibson. Who the hell knows, he might be legitimately injured.

  6. Who is this guy and can he please replace Paul Friesen? gbill could but unfortunately he has to commute daily from Honolulu.
  7. I see that Bastien, Gibson and Neufeld have been relegated to the 1-game IR.
  8. Good to know, MacDonald is probably on contract and not an actual employee of the club.
  9. I know they lined up with Briggs and Hurl in the middle of a 3-4 during training camp a few times. The 3-4 has been practiced before, this isn't a new development. From the LB crew they had last year Sherman had the most success rushing the QB and causing fumbles, I believe he had at least 5.
  10. Lets hope that continues ( pace to 27 vs 71 ) however from a D perspective we are on pace for 9 sacks and I would think that would be worst in CFL history ... Sacks numbers are down league wide. I think the rule changes have allowed QBs to get rid of the ball a little quicker eliminating a lot of the coverage sacks. QBs are still getting hit though. I don't think we will be seeing the safety blitz as much as we have in the past, with the new rules the emphasis will be returned to their original function of helping out in pass defence.
  11. Anyone know the name of the Bombers doctor? Their website lists only Alain Couture and he is an Athletic Therapist, not a doctor.
  12. So the 4 LB set would consist of Hurl, Bass, Randle and Newman?
  13. And Walters record is 8-12 so far and there's still holes on the team. I get liking this group better but don't use the record to justify that. I'll stand by the claims that Mack left the team in better shape than Kelly did as well. Not to mention I already acknowledged that Mack was not a player in free agency and didn't have as much success drafting as he needed 2. When talking strictly about recruiting american players Mack blows Walters and co. out of the water whether people liked the guy or not. as to the second point, does depth matter if your starters aren't good enough? Speaking of Joe Mack, whatever happened to Ken Moll? He must have played a big part in uncovering talent as he was the only US scout they had at the time.
  14. You know.. Cuz he tested willy and did all the tests on him.. Smh. Guys getting his name out there by rocking the boat. Sure, you could argue the bombers and willy are pushing the limit but again, if he passed ALL baseline tests after hit and then days again later.. What's the issue here? Easy to say but you have to admit that both O'Shea and Willy have been less than forthright in this matter, describing the injury only as "upper body" and avoiding using the word "concussion" at all. Both Willy and O'Shea have said that he never lost consciousness and yet he lay motionless for at least 2 mins. and the photo clearly shows his eyes are closed. Willy was standing in the tunnel still in full gear within 20 minutes of being laid out so if they did go through the proper concussion protocol the results were already somewhat predetermined. In Willy's own words he was ready to return to the game for the 2nd half but the medical staff held him out. As the article explains the real danger for Willy is in the next game, were even a minor tackle could lead to more serious damage. It wasn't that many years ago that Buck Pierce returned to play in games in which he had been obviously concussed. So yes the CFL is taking steps in the right direction but those steps are still guarded by self-interest and the traditions of professional sports and not based on the best scientific evidence. Fans may cheer but it is Willy who has to ultimately pay the price. The photo proves nothing. He could have been mid-blink when it was taken for all we know. Everyone is concerned about the health and well-being of players. The divide is people who think the doctors who have actually examined a player know what they are doing and the other side are people who think they know more than those doctors. Are these the same Doctors that took such good care of Buck?
  15. Not shocking the way the dude landed right on his shoulder after making that catch. He was also knocked out cold at one point, so there may be more to this. Meanwhile over at the Riders forum....Smith has a bigger concussion than Willy, nyah! nyah! nyah!
  16. As long as one of the LB's is rushing on every play but if he's relying on a 3 man rush he needs to make a quick call to Chamblin to find out how well that worked out.
  17. The thing I hate about statements like the ones you're making, is you make it seem like they WANT to lose. Like they aren't trying as hard as they can to win, and doing everything they can to win. You don't think these guys are desperate to win?? What more can they do than everything possible...?? Considering they are trying to build a competitive team , their best "Max Hall" try hard effort isn't cutting it at home. It's the blow outs that drive me crazy, I could actually take more solace in Sask.'s record of 0-2 knowing that at least they were competitive in both games and had a chance to win. Many assured us that the pre-season game against Hamilton meant nothing, while others were quite sure that that they heard the ticking of a bomb before it went off.
  18. Irving isn't even doing things the way he was last year at this point. His level of coverage has dropped off significantly. Bob is still great at PBP (IMO)... but as far as reporting, I think he has basically packed it in... The best of Bob's work can be found on the 2 hour CJOB pre-game show where he and Kelly Moore do more in depth interviews with the players and provide information on their football and family backgrounds and how they came to be Bombers. I imagine this and the play calling is the focus of Bob's work week. In regard to the information the other reporters are providing, it is usually just regurgitated from the semi-daily press-conferences the Bombers hold and for the average fan that summary suffices. Without access to the locker room, players or coaches the reporters really don't have any advantages over the ardent fans on sites such as this.
  19. No worries, the boys are still out there and their still raising hell.

  21. Here is a second opinion from the Wpg Sun. World-renowned concussion expert says Bombers on thin ice with decision to bring Drew Willy back quickly from head injury http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/07/07/world-renowned-concussion-expert-says-bombers-on-thin-ice-with-decision-to-bring-drew-willy-back-quickly-from-head-injury
  22. I still remember the still photo of Alex Brink being hit in the chin by a Montreal helmet and being sent flying, while Murray Clarke just watches impassively and makes no move to throw a flag. That's how I know refs are held accountable. Clarke has been demoted a couple of times. The real question is why they kept promoting him. I'd settle for him being fitted with a dunce hat for the next televised game.
  23. Westerman is causing havoc and is getting close. It's not as if he's getting stood up at the line or being blown away.
  24. Truly embarrassing judgement, would love to have the ref. held accountable and explain his reasoning. With all the officials on the field with their walky-talky microphonie things and the big "eye in the sky" you'd think someone would have had the wisdom to yell "throw the flag F-head!" even if it was 20 secs. after the play. Covering ass is important in any profession.
  25. Referring to the play that Demski stepped out in the end-zone, O'Shea said that it should have been a safety and that the league had confirmed this. Unfortunately there is no current mechanism in place to have that play challenged. He also said that in 500 games played no league official could recall a play of that nature happening before.
