Congratulations on making comparisons on two completely different situations and trying to equate Cato's success with what Marve would have done. Montreal out-game-planned Calgary and Hamilton out-game-planned us. That's where the comparisons should end. Marve has the arm strength to complete a pass. Brohm doesn't. That's where the conversation should end. I guess you know more than Kyle Walters and Danny McManus about arm strength then. Because when Brohm was signed Walters said: "Danny played a huge role in this. Danny, who was with (Brohm) in training camp last year, could speak to some of the qualities that you couldn't find on the brief film. Danny likes his arm strength, talked about his escapability and things, but more importantly, Danny talked about the type of young man he is and the leadership he has, how he brings up everyone around him... a great person to have in the organization." Maybe that speaks more about Danny than Brohm Can we petition to get Danny Mac fired?

Oh yeah that's right..so he calls running plays and they don't succeed against a hot Hamilton defence...you and most others would be up his ass for calling running plays when they are so far behind. Almost every offensive coordinator calls passing plays to try and get back in the game...that's the only way to try and score quickly! They had 3 Q's to try to catch up or at least keep pace and it was obvious that the pass only approach was not working and rarely does. Time is not their biggest problem if they aren't being productive. I would like to see the Bombers revert to a default strategy when the O is struggling in an attempt to stabilize the situation. This would put less emphasis on the QB's talents and focus on the running game by playing Cotton, Marshall and a FB at the same time pounding the ball down the field. A blitz intensive team like Hamilton could be vulnerable to this attack especially if Cotton can break through the first line into the secondary. Hopefully over time this attack would loosen up the passing lanes so that they could return to a more balanced attack once the reeling stopped. A positive side effect would be giving the D more time off the field to rest and regroup. Yep...that will definitely get a win when they are so far behind. What they need is a backup QB who doesn't throw the ball into the dirt or up high, and doesn't flutter the ball to the receivers. Someone who actually has some skills and is the legitimate QB in waiting. It's not intended to get them the win, it's intended to temporarily stop the bleeding so that they can regroup and get some momentum back. Throwing desperately and achieving futility is not a recipe for winning football either.

I'm beginning to think that "we need to study the film" is merely a euphemism for "we need to polish off a 26".

I am neither a farmer nor an aristocrat but that doesn't look like a mule to me.

Maybe Hall should hire Etch to bring his erotic blitz strategy up to an X-rating.

[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch And Fine Discussion
Fatty Liver replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You bring up a good point which I think is equipment related. The face-mask provides less impact due to it's grid structure and flexibility. It would look somewhat bizarre but they could design a helmet with both an internal and an external cage structure to help redistribute the impact and equalize it's force between the two colliding players. If you think about the increased level of protection that air-bags have provided in passenger cars I think improved technology can offer a solution. it's a similar problem, for what is a driver other than a brain within a shell? The other thing that needs to change is a return to form tackling from the bottom to the top in organized football. The needless glorification of brain splitting hits by professional sports leagues and media is akin to the promotion of tobacco as a glamour enhancer and yet such advertizing is deemed illegal. -
After watching a bit of the hammy game and most of last night I have to agree with you... but it is only week 2... it literally takes half a season before we get a true grasp on every team in the CFLThe number of hot starts turning to crappy falls we've had recently, I'm more than happy to sit and wait for a team to play .500 ball as it grows together and starts to click around Labour Day. People really gotta chill. This site sucks after a loss.... WithIn a months time the Bombers might be far removed from a .500 record.

A solid running game means that the opposing D-line cannot pin their ears back on every play and charge the QB. Moreover, with at least one of the linebackers coming on every down, that ought to open up lots of room once the back clears the line. Great, then it's unanimous! You wouldn't happen to have Marcels's phone number would you? I have a number of opinions I need to share with him.

A "we want Marve!" chant last night says it all I think. Is Brohm Bellefeuille's Boltus 2.0? I think so. I can't really understand how anyone could possibly defend Brohm's performace last night, he just has no tools whatsoever it seems like. If Marve has first team reps this week and playcalls are designed to his strengths he may definitely surprise. The QBs have to be put on the field to show their worth, look at Cato tonight. He's killing it in Calgary. There's nothing worse than watching CFL coach stubbornness who go with their guys through thick and thin no matter how poorly they perform. This is the way it is with O'Shea, in the post game interview he said that they would give as many reps. as possible to Brohm as #2 just as they did Willy last year. Translation: Until Brohm is injured and unable to continue Marve is not getting playing time regardless of the score. I truly hope you are wrong about Brohm continuing to play. I was thinking last night at the game that perhaps they were testing Brohm much like a baseball manager tests his pitcher. Can he fight his way out of the jam he's in?? The answer, with regards to Brohm, is no. I, like so many others posting on this thread, think that Brohms arm strength is simply not there. I thought his throws more often than not looked like a rookie's throws. Low in the dirt, high, causing his receiver to leap and stretch out, exposing him to injury. If Willy can't play Brohm will start, but I expect a short leash. Wait, I demand a short leash!! I learned to listen to O'Shea very carefully last year because he doesn't say much but everything he says, he means. He is not ambiguous in any way.

We could be in next year country by the August long weekend. MTL. CGY. EDM. BC HAM. TO CGY All before Labour Day. Depending on when Willy returns you are probably right.

Do or Die Detailed Half Time Report...
Fatty Liver replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That is exactly the way I saw things as well. A penalty, a key injury, and a run back. And it just did not stop after that. Hammy looked good. The missed FG came before that. That was an omen. Speaching of omens....what the hells the matter with Lirim? Time to bring that big butted b*stard back from the Rifles to scare the **** outta him. -

It's extremely disturbing how often the Bombers lay eggs in front of their hometown fans, it must drive Wade Miller crazy trying to fill IGF. -
I'm just hoping the Als O can't put up more than 14 points.

Totally agree. What the **** were the refs looking at? There should be a suspension and fine. The ref should also be fined for missing the call. The coach should be giving permission to the oline to go after any player that cheap shots our qb. Time to start sending a message to other teams that this **** won't go unpunished. Absolutely unbelievable that there was no penalty called on that play. What part of protecting the QB do the refs. not understand?
