What's with the infatuation with 300 yard games? The leaders in this stat. were Ray and Willy, despite the flying pigskins neither managed to secure a playoff spot for their teams. In the end oddly wins seem to count more than passing yards.
-
Great news! That's half of the equation, have the scat back now Walters needs to go out and find a power back for short yardage. Pretty sure they will be able to find him playing in the CFL for another team so no need to bring in a CFL newbie as there's likely to be a number of proven RB's cut in the off-season due to over stock on a few teams. Doubt Sask. cuts Allen but Miller might be available. Stamps went through about six this year due to injury so doubt they will hold on to all of them, Martell Mallett was a force in the games that he played.

Cauchy Muamba is playing on a Jones D??? What's next Goltz leading them to a G.C. victory!!!
-
Montreal wins with Crompton, they'll continue to run with him as long as that happens more than not. What exactly makes him the worst QB in the league?
-
My quote function isn't working but TSN said that Garcia was open to HC offers.
-
Garcia is interested in an HC job, would like to see him as OC in Wpg. if he doesn't get any HC offers.
-
I think there will be major changes in BC, good opportunity for Wpg. to pick up some castoffs. Time for Wally to get his ice pick out and clean house.
-
Bear Woods would be a steal, Walters should start loading up the Brinks truck now to get it done.
-
Yah, where are all the Crompton haters? He's getting it done again.
-
Highlights? Anywhere? Searched high and low and could not even find mention of the game on any sports media website.....discouraging.

Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
Fatty Liver replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Etch. Kuale put in good effort but he rarely got his hands on the RB and he's not mobile enough to chase down a RB like Solly can. -
Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry

Got to agree with this sentiment. Re-watched a few games specifically to see why Kuale was relatively ineffective as a MLB stopping the run. I concluded that for the most part he started plays in a bad lateral position and had to fight his way back through D-linemen to get to the running lanes instead of coming down hill to fill a gap as with most defencive schemes. It was ludicrous to continually have Kuale starting plays up on the line of scrimmage threatening blitz when the only QB he could probably ever catch would be Willy. -
Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry

wild hurt for a couple games, Anderson lost for the season, vega playing injury all year...can you think of a defence that would be successful with as poor a defensive line as the Bombers had this year?Even before those guys got hurt we couldn't stop the run. That's the thing for me... Even with our personnel at 100% for the games we had them it made no difference. The other thing to consider is every team has injuries. You can't continually use that as an excuse for under performance. If the defense is sound. If every gap is covered from A-D then it should work. We need the right personnel in place. Every time we needed the defense late in games to seal the win for us, they failed. As the game went on, our run defense couldn't get the job done. They were worn out. I saw us out physicalled, if that is even a word... Pushed back 5 yards everytime. Our O struggled, yes. But there were games when it was up to Etch's defense to get the ball back for the O by stopping the other teams running backs & they never did. For me, the first change that needs to be made is who's running the defense & that is Etcheverry.and all those rushing yards led to exactly 1 loss in that Early going. So who cares about rushing yards allowed of it doesn't result in losses? Some of you are just so dead set I your ways and any scheme or design that goes against what you believe HAS to be wrong. Etch wasn't the problem.....But it did result in losses. We could never get the ball back or stop the other teams run games later in the season in the late fourth quarter to seal the deal. That can't be ignored. The defense was terrible. First 6 games when etch had his starters in.. Were we getting ran on like it was going out of style? Honestly, I don't know but I think that when our D-line and LBs started to drop like flies, our run defense went down... As did the pass rush, even the blitzes were ineffective after Labour Day. -

I doubt it. I bet he's saving that rant for next week. -
Here's a clue, he got injured. He was also injured twice this season in 7 games so his durability is a question in my mind. Hopefully Washington can improve his ball security skills over the off-season because inevitably O'Shea will give him another crack at returning kick-offs.

I think it's time to change a silly trend.

Divisional All Stars Announced (Only One WBB)
Fatty Liver replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Grigsby over Steele? Obviously talent isn't a requirement to become an Easter All-Star. These awards and being named as the "CFL Greatest Athlete" will look splendid in Grigsby's portfolio when he's looking for work next year. Of course none of this will swell Nic's head. -
What, Joey "have football will travel" Elliot isn't available?

Ummm....Alouettes are actually larks and are not predators. And so much for nit-picking. Larks yes, but blood thirsty man-eating larks for sure.

Pulling in a timely surplus prior to an election date does not make this govt. good economic managers and does not excuse running up the overall debt of the nation into the stratosphere. This is the basis of good economic management, don't get fooled by the marketing dept. Again you've reverted to the justification of "the other guys would have done worse". -
Host BC to Represent East in Grey Cup?
Fatty Liver replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If Hamilton does get to the Grey Cup, Kent Austin is due some respect for his coaching abilities. This happens too often to be considered coincidental. -

I don't disagree about the GST but it doesn't matter. They campaigned on it. They promised it. They won and they delivered on their promote. Period. Ultimately lower taxes is never a bad thing. It's just not what I would have done. Lower taxes and a ballooning public service and deficit. How do those ingredients reconcile in the ledger book? -
Next season the Bombers win those games. I'm confident Bombers win at least 9-10 games next season. Could've won them this year too. We were outplayed at the QB position - rest of the team played well enough to win those games. Willy had his struggles towards the end of the season, however, in the games against the RIders at home and against Hamilton he outplayed the opposing QB. You are just making crap up. He was pretty brutal in the first game against the Riders. I thought that was one of his worst games actually. Those three picks he threw were absolute killers. They hurt, However, I blame 2 out of 3 of those on the play calling and on a receiver making no effort to go to the ball. Fact of the matter is that we scored more points on offence than they did. If we could stop turning the ball over for TDs, or stop Dressler on KRs this series looks a lot different. Who gets a FG blocked for a TD? The luck was running the Riders way. Willy played well. He was not the cause of any of our defeats to the Riders. I seem to remember a cross field pick-six intended for JFG late in the first game that was the nail in the coffin. Willy threw that pass and even took responsibility for the loss.

Too Little for Ottawa in Expansion Draft?
Fatty Liver replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well worth stating twice. Ottawa was competitive in a lot of the games they lost and if not for severe bad luck probably could have had at least 3-4 more victories. The building blocks are in place and with the right QB they should do alright in another 2 years. Can't ask more from an expansion team imo. -

Country is in far better Shape under Harper than it would have been otherwise. The blind hate for the scary Harper is laughable. Anyone but Harper? Let's hope he's PM for another five years at least. It's easy to say "he's better than the other guy" but please iterate all of the wonderful things Harper has done for Canada? I should state that I am apolitical not because I don't care but because I've read enough about politics to understand the business of it and essentially how all political parties are representing the same interests.
