  1. Grigsby 5 carries for 8 yards in the first half!!!
  2. Same old Grigsby so far, except he's seems to have been replaced by Madu in running situations.
  3. He's going to switch to a 3-4 defence and Oshea will claim problem solved, no need for changes. Without Harris run D may not be that big of a problem in this game but if they don't pressure Kevin Glenn he could pick them apart.
  4. "Statistics are just funny numbers" Gary Etcheverry
  5. I tried to hit on Sellers wife. He wasn't around. She was waaaaay out of my league. I didn't know it was his wife til the next day. I'm friggin lucky to be alive! Rod, your best chance was to dazzle her with your poetry.
  6. Except that this stat. refers to every game played this year so it can't be dismissed out of hand when it accounts for 92% of all wins. I'm sure if the team with the most passing yards had won with that frequency TSN would have brought that stat. up as well. I wonder how much of the remaining 8% accounts for Bomber victories, I think they out rushed the Argos the RB's and BC early in the season but can't recall them doing it since. (Sorry, too lazy to look through the game stats.)
  7. That statement is not proof. It simply isn't supported by that statistic you provided. That's taken out of context. Too many factors haven't been included, including passing yards and turnovers. Never said it was a proof, just an interesting stat. Interpret it as you like.
  8. TSN had a stat. that in 61 out of 66 games this year the team with the most yards rushing has won the game. Seems contrary to Etch's theory that the pass is the primary determinant of wins in the CFL.
  9. Pencer cut, now Swiston, so much for the future depth of Natl. O-linemen, the cupboard is bare.
  10. Ray Bourke would have been nice.
  11. If it was a poor trade the one remedy is to get Hall back playing for the Bombers again. That'll teach those green-cootied-hicks not to play poker with a Svengali like Walters!
  12. That says everything you need to know about how teams feel about the Riders without Durant "we can beat them with our backups" Cornish is just that real good mix of speed and power. He's big and strong and has good enough balance he can run through tackles but he's also fast enough to break some big runs if he gets a hole. If you can draw up the kind of running back every team wants to have that's the guy there. The fact he is Canadian is such a bonus as well..He's 30 years old though. Only has a year or so left before he falls off a cliff and is out of the league. Signs of him already falling apart. That's an incredibly bold prediction. I bet he plays until he's 33 at least. There's always exceptions but age 30 is the magic number when most RBs fall off a cliff. He should extend his career by moving to Manitoba where there are not too many cliffs to fall off.

If you can draw up the kind of running back every team wants to have that's the guy there. He kind of reminds me of Tony Dorsett the way he carries his momentum, smooth, fast and powerful.
  14. Just re-watched the Stamps game and have to marvel at Cornish's running ability, he is an absolute beast. Every time he touches the ball it's a first down. Can't put a finger on what makes him so great but have to think we're watching one of the best RB's to ever play in the CFL.
  15. You tell me one coach who has the gumption to continually switch out QBs like you seem to think O'Shea should in the CFL.. Go ahead... I'll wait. You had a better chance if you would have asked which coach doesn't have the gumption to switch out a QB to give his team a change of pace. Hufnagel-playoff game be damned. Austin-all day any day. Higgins-keep lookin' for a better one. Chamblin-he would if he had anything better. Campbell-enuff of Frank already. Bennevides-what's a matta with Glenn? O'Shea-"we switched QB's but nobody noticed cause there were 3 seconds left." No smart coach will switch out there starter for a backup unless 1) there starter gets injured, or 2) they're coming off a year where they lost their starter and they're looking for their new #1. Most successful coaches do not switch out QB's midgame (I'm not talking about trick plays, I mean a full switch out where the starter doesn't come back). Most of the coaches I remember who ever did that on a regular basis lost most of the time and are no longer HC's. Put any of the listed coach's except O'Shea in a situation were they are behind and their O is doing nothing and I don't think they would have a problem switching out the QB. You don't see winning coach's like Hufnagel do this often because they don't usually find themselves in that situation.

  17. Make no sense to me, Willy hasn't played well for Weeks now he hasn't earned the start based on his play other players have to sit and wait their turn but Willy gets to start based on what ? I won't be watching if Willy is playing I am done with stupid coaches starting their guy let the best players play ! Tired of Romby Bryant as well and EJ would be playing if he wasn't injured MOS neesd to learn to start his best players regardless of salary or who his favorites are... Willy IS the best QB, don't be ridiculous. Suggesting he's not is bordering on idiocy. I like Marve and think someday he may be better than Willy. That day is not in the near future though. I agree with your statement. I cannot for the life of me figure out how anyone could think Marve is the better QB right now. Well, Willy has been very ordinary to bad the past 9 weeks. But, I get why MOS will start him as despite Marve's great play Willy does give us the best chance to win. I mean, on one hand you got a Qb who's been playing all year, and mustered all of 23 yards passing and 1 yard net offense against Edmonton, and that same Edmonton defense, the next week, went up against a QB who hasn't thrown a ball in over a year, and he mustered up 23 yards passing in his first series. Yep - Willy is the man for sure. Willy is the starter.. Period. We are STILL in a playoff hunt amazingly.. So why would we go with our #2 guy? What you are saying makes absolutely no sense.. So willy had a rough game against one of the best defences (who got to game plan for him..) big friggin deal.. And by one of the best defences you are of course referring to the RedBlacks?
  18. I hope Durant does come back for the playoffs so that it can honestly be said they're middle of the pack wannabees. East or West this Rider team is going nowhere this year.
  19. Maybe Austin has plans to add Grigsby to the passing attack as Austin is not big on running anyway. Combined with a solid runner like Gable, Grigsby could look good in this role, this is a scheme that the Bombers should have been working towards.
  20. Last game Sask. scratched Allen at the last minute and than plugged in Ford to runs up the middle. Like Grigsby the only place Ford has success is on the outside. Hard to understand why they stopped using their 3-headed monster.
  21. More concerned with O'Shea's inflexibility to switch out QB's when things are not going well. If the Bombers are headed for a repeat of the Ottawa performance would people not agree that after 3 Q's it would be reasonable to switch to Marve?
  22. O'Shea didn't make the significant changes on his own volition, injuries and Grigsby's release determined those changes.
  23. O'Shea just confirmed on the Coach's Show that it's Willy all of the way. The only way Marve gets back in is if Willy is injured, again.
  24. I don't particularly trust O'Shea and his judgement in believing he can always pull out a win even down by 20 with one minute left on the clock. if he puts in Marve at all I predict it will be with 30 secs. left in the game.
  25. Okay, so all of the losses are not Etch's fault and the D has played reasonably well for the most part despite it's inherent design flaws.. Let's blame Marcel! I think the proof will be in the pudding when Willy returns to the line up because Marcel is going to revert to his comfort zone and do the same damn things he's been doing all season, sans Grigsby. I believe the progressions we thought we witnessed on offence against the Stamps were out of Marcel's control and went well beyond his mental agility to game plan for them to occur. Here are my predictions. 2 and outs all night long. Cotton goes nowhere. Willy gets clobbered, repeatedly. O-line looks bad as usual. O turns over the ball 3+ times. O scores no more than one TD. If the Bombers win or come close, it will be on Lirim's foot. Unfortunately history does repeat so I'm predicting with Willy back at the helm the next game will be another regression. This will not be on Willy but on the scheme Marcel sets up for him with the idiotic fixed pocket which is almost impossible to protect.
