Paris Cotton=Mack Herron

Well I don't know. The feeling here is that Cotton has gotten his groove after after one game so had he been put in say in late August there were three games where Grigsby got a total of 73 yards. With Cotton fine tuned we could have won at least three games. As one reminded me yesterday he ran against the best well rested defense and look what he did. The main reason he did very well was the oline played better and the QB's were not known from films like things were at the start of the year. Let's get this straight. My beef has never been about the running back but with our Oline. They showed up to play last night after two months of snoozing. It's not about Grigsby vs Cotton. Cotton might be a better back and if that's the case that's great. It would also appear we will be able to see what Grigsby will do with another team. Grigsby is off to the team that runs the least in the league, so I don't think he's going to be able to show much except as a receiver. Even with Gable, Austin did not make much of the running game.

Doug Flutie is the greatest QB and player the CFL has ever had.............. not a pocket QB.Warren Moon, Jackie Parker, Damon Allen, Russ Jackson, I can go all day, were not pocket QB's. True. But more recently they have been pocket passers. My main point is that we shouldn't be expecting a QB to make up for a subpar OL, given how hard it has been to find a franchise QB. The reason that the sub-par O-line looks so sub-sub-par is that Willy is standing there like a statue in Central Park and the pigeons are converging upon him. The sub-par O-liine was no better last night until Marve showed up and invited the Stamps D to run a steeplechase event were he was the rabbit. This also opened the holes that Cotton ran through so convincingly by spreading out the Stamps front 7.

Marve doesn't have an ACL anymore in the one knee. That'd make it impossible to reinjure. I don't even understand how this is possible but nonetheless it still scares me.

To be honest I don't know if he was good or lucky on that completion he made on that "Houdini" play. If I had my druthers I would have been very happy with him throwing the ball out of bounds on that kind of play because typically that throw would end up as a pick. Many of the best Qbs in CFl history made a living of "Houdini" plays instead of throwing the ball out of bounds. Flutie and Allen come to mind. They wasn't rookies.

You do realize that Brohm is in the final year of his contract right? We may lose him for nothing yet if we can't re-sign him. We can't go trading anyone, and even if we wanted to I'm not sure that they have enough playing time under their belts to get a decent return. Really? That kind of changes everything. Brohm might view his situation very similar to Willy's last year were he will be stuck as a backup indefinitely if he re-signs with the Bombers. I wouldn't doubt that numerous teams might be interested in taking a flyer on him based on what they've seen so far, although admittedly he has a limited resume. Ottawa, BC and Sask. spring to mind as teams that need to improve their QB situation for next year and might be willing to pay more than the Bombers to do so. I'm all for trading him to the highest bidder of the three before he makes it to F.A. cause I honestly can't see him re-upping with those opportunities available.

Consider that with Reilly EE already have the QB mobility that we witnessed for the first time tonight. This makes the O-lines job easier and the attacking D's job harder.
-
If the Bombers are going to spend the off-season trying to build a max-protect offence around Willy's immobility they are chasing the wrong chicken. They'll continue to fail at this approach until they acquire enough talent to form one of the best O-lines in the league and that could take years. Better they work towards moving the pocket around and developing Willy's mobility to better avoid the crushing pass rush he plays under now. I think Burris would be a good model to emulate as he uses his mobility mostly to relocate himself but usually throws from a fixed stance.

Demi had silicone bumpers installed in case she walks into a wall.
-
QB movement will most likely take place through F.A. maybe not this off-season but there should be a number of good backup QB's coming free in the years to come.
-
You absolutely must know with the current coaching staff he will not be given the opportunity to start unless he is the last man standing. I look forward to the day when the Bombers have an OC that will play the appropriate QB for the appropriate situation instead of the one QB fits all scenario. My realistic hope is that they design a red-zone offence around Marve's talents and practice it enough to make use of it in games next season.

Exactly Brohm was getting the ball out faster than Willy, Marve runs better than Willy and and cotton found his holes in party because Marve helped open **** up and in part because he's just plain better than Grigsby. O-line wasn't really any different. Exactly, with Marve's mobility the D couldn't focus on a single point of attack so that opened up everything for Cotton. The O-line was never that bad, it was the protection they were trying to provide to the pocket on every play that caused most of the breakdowns. Sad that Marcel couldn't figure this out earlier.

Sure would like to see Slaton or Steele playing for the Bombers, both of those guys run with purpose.
-
Crompton definitely playing with confidence which Willy is sorely lacking right now.
-
Crompton looking fantastic, he may be a more complete QB than Willy.

Who said Etch can't make adjustments to his philosophy .. Are we sure it's Etch making this call? Me thinks O'Shea may be taking the bull by the horn a bit. Could be that Miller got involved and told O'Shea that he was delusional about making the playoffs and that it was time to shake things up and start getting ready for next year.
-
Neither of those decisions would make sense for those teams unless they have backups that can replace their #2 QB's. I'm sure they don't want to venture down the road that Sask. has trod this year.
-
Rick Campbell might be available for a coordinator job next year ala Tim Burke.

Am I the only one that saw the Stamps DB's passing around a joint in the second half??? Based on this quote alone, I'm not entirely sure who's passing around the joint. I'm a bit selfish, I only pass from my right hand to my left, than back again.
-
I agree, Grigsby wants to quit screw him, don't set him free to find a job with a competitor. All together different scenario with Alex Suber and Will Ford, they deserved the opportunity to continue their careers if they couldn't be accommodated here. I'd venture to say that Marcel may have designed a position around Grigsby's skills similar to Durie's if he would have had the patience to stick around until next year.
-
Because of the hype when he came to the Als. Smith probably had a burdensome contract well beyond the usual for a CFL-green QB. I think Sask. would be smart to put him on their PR and see if they can't make something out of him, by the time Durant retires he just might be ready.

This is correct. If correct, doesn't the same thing apply to Grigsby?

That's another good point, most rookies are smart enough to shut up and eat their corn flakes, happy in the fact that they're getting paid to play football. Better yet if the coach asks you not to play but you're still getting paid.
