If this were 2011-12 I would agree with you. 2015 KG not so much. All I'm saying is a year ago a lot of guys were happy to pick up Burris LOL. KG at the right price (150-175k) wouldn't be so bad. Do you really think marve or portis is going to perform better than kg? Desperate times call for desperate measures. I was more than happy to have Glenn as a safety net last year but I would rather see Marve and Portis get the future reps if and when Willy gets injured, not Glenn.

I think that will happen by default.

Bombers sign LB Hurl, WR Adams, OL Bryant & Dile, DL Brown
Fatty Liver replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hard to say what Volny could have done, no coach in Wpg. ever had the faith to give him the ball more than a handful of times in a season. It might well be that he's had enough of the Bombers and was not interested in coming back to the same situation. At least he's going home to Mtl. -

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but Carl Volny has been signed by Montreal. Hope he is given a better opportunity there. -
****! Didn't realize he was even available. Wonder why the Bombers didn't pursue? We gave him a "no thank you" late in the season this year. His asking price was insane. It's funny now that I read reports that we were after him in the Regina media. If so, we could have had him already, Not just Regina media: Kirk Penton @PentonKirk #Roughriders sign defensive end Alex Hall. The #Bombers were hoping to snag him. #CFL I stand corrected. Odd, because last year during one of the games shortly after Hall's NFL release, Irving commented that the Bombers had been in touch with Hall about possibly coming back and were floored by his asking price. He wanted a salary equivalent to John Chick. (We have since learned that is 200k per year), so the Bombers backed away. Wonder what changed? Did Alex reduce his asking price significantly or did we just have more money to spend this year? Could be neither I suppose and the Riders gave him his ridiculous ask. I would love to hear what the Riders are paying him. ****! Didn't realize he was even available. Wonder why the Bombers didn't pursue? We gave him a "no thank you" late in the season this year. We're getting to the point where we're probably at one or two more pieces then we call it a free agency. Like I said two days ago, I still feel we need to leave enough room on our roster to allow our scouting to pay dividends as well. We shouldn't be filling every hole in free agency. I'd like to see us get two of Curran, Peters and Sears. At most. We're getting to the point where we're probably at one or two more pieces then we call it a free agency. With Newman, Sherman and now Hurl, I don't see the need to pursue Peters but would love to see Sears back. -
Curtis Steele re-ups with Argos.

If I recall correctly his arm was broken on a very late hit by a nasty prick playing for the Als at the time. Can't recall his name...all I remember is PRICK! RETRACT! RETRACT! Obviously my memory is shot or I was recalling another horrible incident in Bomber history. Highlight reel from that play-off game against the ARGOS is well worth watching nonetheless... Roberts, Stegall, Stokes, Brown, Hayward, Armstrong, Coach Spavital..... "Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, we sang and danced, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah"....

I would love to see Cotton and Curtis Steele in the Bomber backfield in 2015, time for the Bombers to get serious about their running game. One back systems don't cut it in the West. -

Why do you say that?... Both Rene Curran and Brian Peters have been rumoured as targets for the Bombers... Good point. I like Curran but don't see Peters as being a solution at MLB although he would be a fine addition on the outside. Richie Hall may convince Walters to pursue Peters vigorously but there is still a decent chance Peters will be receiving NFL offers so the Bombers should proceed with caution. Curran is currently sitting behind JC Sherritt on the Esks. depth chart and he's not getting any younger so I believe he is going to move. Depending on the competition Bombers have a good shot but he may also be attractive to the Riders and the ORB's. -

Would have been nice to get Desia Dunn under contract at a moderate price especially now that Sears is likely not returning. I know Dunn has his haters in this room but he is a reliable, consistent, steady player that rarely got burned. I'd hoped the Bombers would have rolled with him until his replacement was obvious. Too much turn-over in the LB core is disconcerting especially with no sign of a CFL proven MLB heading this way. Dunn was one of Tim Burke's favourites so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with the Argos. -

In my eyes Desjardins is the wild card in free agency this year, doesn't seem like Ottawa has done near enough to improve their club over this off-season through conventional methods so it looks like they will key on free agents. If Marcel is in the mood to spend the idiotic amounts of money he reportedly offered Dressler last year on O-linmen and receivers the Bombers may have to to offer unprecedented sums to acquire assets or settle for crumbs that fall off the bidding table. As the cream of the free agency crop is quickly evaporating, I'm not sure it's worth over-bidding to acquire any of the players now heading towards free-agency. If they can be picked up at a fair market price great, but it may be wiser to hold money in reserve for NFL rejects or the hopeful return of one of the long awaited like Bilkudi, Mulamba, et all. -
No big surprise that the barn is almost empty when free agencies opens, happens every year. It's going on my "anti-climatic" list along with Ground-hog Day.
-
Telling that Kromah only started a few games before they reshuffled the deck, inserted Unamba and Sears and put Kuale back in the middle. Even with Kuale I put a lot of the blame on Etch's system as the MLB was constantly tied up or taken out of the play by an O-lineman.
-
The most puzzling thing is that so far they have done nothing to improve their QB depth which killed them in 2014. Other than sending Kerry Joseph back to his retirement villa, which is one small step in the right direction.

There is no way we get Heenan. We would have to GROSSLY overpay for SK to let him go -- he's a local boy, old man is a Riderdouche, blah blah. He wants to go to the NFL. Or play in SK. I would like to say take a huge run at him to get SK to burn a bunch of cap money to keep him, but they dont follow the cap anyway so whats the point? I love the CFL and defend it up and down. But the way the cap is treated makes me think it needs a serious cleansing "IF" the CFL is serious about their salary cap rules they should occasionally conduct an official audit of suspicious accounting to keep teams in line. I nominate Mr. Taman and his "numbers-by-napkins" system as a likely benefactor of this program. The sickening smell of fudge is beginning to waft across the prairies and it's only February.

That has to be a cause for concern. Finding one or two good LB's is tough, four is an immense task. Won't be surprised if Sherman ends up full time in default and pretty sure they can resign Dunn before F.A. if they want to.
-
"very aggressive" might mean throwing things around the office if Heenan doesn't sign. Yep. Taman and O'Day will have a few beers, take their shirts off, and have a good old wrestling match in Taman's office. You've just spoiled tomorrow's breakfast with that imagery.

Bombers trade Cory Watson to Saskatchewan
Fatty Liver replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He re-focused on the tackle, not the smack down. It's football, you go hard or you go home (on a stretcher usually). Hitting/tackling is the same thing when that's how you play. Doubt Solomon could change how he plays and stil would remain as effective ... I disagree, hitting and tackling are not the same thing. Ian Wild and Alex Suber are examples of great tacklers that do not rely heavily on the hitting component. One of the Bombers problems last year was not wrapping up and containing the ball carrier, thus poor tackling.
