All joking aside I hope you don't take that sign out in public, some bad things could happen to you. We took it into the game and even the Rider fans thought it was hilarious. We put it away as soon as a woman who brought her young son with her asked us to though. Great, keep it classy. I'd suggest the same thing is going to happen at the Banjo Bowl but the lady might be a police officer or a burly father. Surprised the moderators let this image stand when they react so vigilantly to offencive language or spelling errors.

Should We Load 8 Or 9 In The Box To Stuff Messam?
Fatty Liver replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well not according to O'Shea, not if they execute and cancel their gaps, their defence should be no more vulnerable than anyone else's, so that only leaves personnel not doing their jobs. Doug Brown would disagree with you on this point. On the post-game show he was quite explicit in pointing out that the players did not stand a chance of stopping the run due to Etch's unbalanced positioning. Prior to the snap the RB just has to look to see which side of the line is loaded and go the other way. Later this season the number of losses attributed to this defect will be tallied and pinned to Etch's behind. Is it 2 and counting, or 3 and counting??? Again, we knew exactly what we were getting with Etch... starts strong, teams figure him out and he re-invents his D late in the season. We've been figured out. I remember reading an endless discussion about this on the Riders forum just after the Bombers hired Etch. Speculation ranged from a players revolt over schemes to Etch being reduced to the role of assistant DC. for the playoff games. Riders did well in both seasons he was their DC so it's hard to say if he makes adjustments himself or if he is always reigned in. It'd be nice if he showed a little wisdom in learning from past mistakes but there doesn't seem to be much evidence of that. Banjo Bowl is going to expose him to increased wrath if the D. is exploited in the same method especially if the Bombers lose. -
Still here! In the early going Willy was spreading the ball around and all of the receivers were looking good, including Kelly. In the last 5 or 6 games Willy has not demonstrated that ability and tends to concentrate on one receiver per game, probably his primary receiver. Therein lies the REAL problem with receivers who have not been productive. Willy seems to be getting half-decent protection from his O-line recently so not sure what is to blame for this change of course. our good friend Bob discusses some aspects of this in the following report. http://www.cfl.ca/article/irving-lots-to-shore-up-for-bombers-ahead-of-banjo-bowl If Willy has time and isn't throwing to receivers that means they ain't getting open, which has been the book on Kelly. Guy isn't good enough to get open consistently. Which is a hell of a thing because when you're 6'5 you're always open, that's how useless he's been. If you recall some of those great catches Kelly made early on he often wasn't open and sometimes in double coverage and he still managed to come up with the ball because Willy placed the ball perfectly. That's why those catches were so amazing. I think early in the season Willy had much better ball placement and I wonder if that first injury to his throwing hand wasn't the turning point for the decrease in throwing yards and accuracy. Romby has been open numerous times and he's not getting the ball either. Again, read Bob Irving's article and come up with a better explanation for the decreased offencive numbers because scapegoating doesn't work.

Do you think Kuale is good as well? Not many tackles, don't remember seeing him make too many plays, remember him going offside, but I can't say if he's doing what they want him to do. I guess you can only tell what the coach thinks by who plays, who doesn't play, and by what position players they bring in. have not brought in a linebacker yet. Kuale made 1 tackle last game....his mouth made way more. Looking at the game stats. for last week Willy matched Kuale's number of tackles at one each. As an added bonus Willy also played QB!

You guys are like a bunch of women arguing over clothes. Please take your discussion on fashion over to the uniform thread, you're killing the theme.

Excuse me but pirates are supposed to drink rum. Being on a tropical vacation is the only excuse for male rum consumption Oh no no no no no. Rum has got quite interesting in the last 10 years. Get into it a bit and your prejudice will be shaken, same with rye and bourbon. Very interesting research to be done if you're a sop.

Max Hall arrested for shoplifting and cocaine possession
Fatty Liver replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
No mention of a needle and a spoon, I expect that might be an exaggeration of the facts. -
Can't disagree with that. Walker did not play in the second half. Ahh... then it would seem that Desjardins is to blame for thinking that Michael Hayes is CFL worthy. Walker had 6 yards on 4 carries in the first half and Hayes had 6 yards on 6 carries in the second. The panel was laughing about those numbers at half time. The RedBlacks O-line make the Bomber's look mighty in comparison.

Kevin Glenn now has his wish of being a starting QB. He's the man.

Oh boy, not good for the league.

Impressed with ORBs defence, they seem to have some decent young players like Pruneau.

Looks like Watson may have been injured in practice again!

Great to hear your perspective, it's encouraging. One huge influence that hasn't been mentioned is having all the games broadcast on TSN so that younger fans who can't afford to go to the games can follow their favourite team. All it takes is the interest of a father or older brother tuning into the weekly contest for the seed to be planted. In my case I was a huge Montreal Canadiens fan from the age of 5 simply because the weekly broadcasts on HNIC were a staple in our household every Saturday night. Football broadcasts being so much more erratic in the day, I really didn't become a Bomber fan until around 10.

According to Darren Bauming the Bombers will be playing a double MLB set with Kuale and Kromah to contend with the run. Interested to see how this works out. -
Braley turning into a slumlord for Argos

Heard Cohon is probably moving onto work with MLSE so hopefully he will be able to assist the Argos from the other side of the equation. -
Don't really care about the uniform thing, actually wanted to avoid that discussion, thus a new thread. I guess the group that I'm most interested in is the 20 somethings. Are there a lot of them attending games or have they succumbed to the omnibus marketing campaign of the NFL and deem the CFL "minor league"? Must be a few of them on this board that can chime in. I know in my case my buddies and I started to attend games in our late teens as a group as soon as we had a car to get us there and money of our own to purchase tickets....and beer! For the most part that experience made us all life long fans of the Bombers and the CFL. I must note that this was prior to the 100 channel universe and unbridled exposure to the NFL and it's marketing campaign was still in it's infancy. Circa. Dallas Cowboys and Roger Staubach to be exact.

I'm beginning to think Neufeld is not going to be the long-term solution the Bombers hoped for. He hasn't played half the games this year. Can someone provide an accurate diagnosis of what perpetually ails him?

I was going to put this in the Royal Blue discussion but I think it's a separate discussion unto itself. The ever-changing re-design of sports uniforms is mostly marketing towards the youth market. Not really sure how much that demographic comes into play in the CFL marketing as I suspect the average CFL fan is 30-50 and up and doesn't appreciate change as they once did. Sometime it's hard for mid-life white guys to think that the world revolves around anybody else but themselves and those like them so an outside perspective is needed. The youth market is important to the CFL because the very young fans are the future season ticket purchasers and should not be ignored. Any of you have a view of how the CFL is working to attract the next generation of fans and whether they're meeting with any success?
