So I think we know who the better RB is now
Fatty Liver replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think it was good strategy to take Grigsby out for the 3rd Q and give Cotton a chance. Certainly gave the running game a kick start, hopefully they continue to do this in upcoming games. -

Pppffftt....don't be ridiculous, that would never work. Could swear this is Arnold Horshack.

Smart for which side? Didn't think the Als were lacking at O-Line and I'd be surprised if they were stupid enough to throw in a first round draft pick plus Green for Picard. Als should be be trying to find a QB first of all.

Chances of Bombers signing Sheets?
Fatty Liver replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hard to say who the top paid Intl. RB in the league would be but probably doesn't come near what Cornish would earn nor Harris behind him. Seeing as they're both Natls. that kind of skews things. Sheets might like to think he deserves Cornish's pay but his passport and 9 G.M.'s would probably tell him he doesn't. Ottawa just showed Chevon Walker a lot of love by extending his contract so maybe that makes him the top earner amongst Intl. RBs. I doubt any of these guys earn more than $120,000 unless they can prove they're the next Mike Pringle. -
Cohon not seeking 3rd term as commish
Fatty Liver replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yes. The new Commissioner should be someone with strong ties in Southern Ontario and some charisma. IMO Commissioners don't need to have strong sporting backgrounds as long as they are long time fans/supporters and have good political and private sector connections. I guess that rules out Mean Mr. Harper for the position. He may be looking for a new job in the near future and he appears to be a football fan. -
Good point. May be attributable to the particular co-ordinator's wishes? I'm shocked that we're half way through the season and we have not seen a patented O'Shea "trick play" on special teams yet. Unless you consider Washington fumbles as "trick plays"....

Not to be confused with Ty Domi-Nation! -
Chances of Bombers signing Sheets?

In the CFL you can't always put your horse before the carriage. Should be some good O-liners shaking free with the NFL cuts and besides Zach's bros. is already on his way to Domi-Nation! -
Chances of Bombers signing Sheets?
Fatty Liver replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Can't see it. Who other than the RR do you think would throw in a bid? -
It looks like both Dressler and Sheets will be headed back to the CFL at some point in the near future. Riders can't afford to sign both and consensus is they need Dressler more than Sheets. Can't think of too many other teams that are short of performance at RB this year so there shouldn't be much competition plus the Bombers should have plenty of cap space. What price could Sheets command, $120,000? What are the odds Walters makes a play for him? OTH without holes to run through he may look entirely average.

It's tough keeping up with all the Joneses on this team... Jarvis Jones (65) is not on the 46 yet.... the Joneses on the the current 44 are Kyle Jones (47) and Derek Jones (41) No, I think you're wrong about that. Fact is Jarvis Jones will be playing both of these positions at the same time. A smelly old fart told me so. Sorry Grandpa.

Kromah likely to make Bomber debut Friday
Fatty Liver replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Mike O'Shea should throw a penalty flag on the field anytime a Bomber DB tries to tackle with no arms. -
Nice to see Jarvis Jones finally back on the 46 man roster but it's a pity they've got him backing up the dime back.

I would like to see a breakdown of the CFL TSN audience, as in who's watching, when. Could well be that Easterners are making up the majority of the viewing audience and if that's the case as long as TSN is doing well with their braodcast numbers don't mess with success.

Did Pall kick your dog or something? We're talking about bringing him in for a couple practices not making him captain of the team. What's the cost of bringing him in, $5000? $10,000 if they keep him for a month before sending him home? All I know is it's not free and not the wisest way for the BB to fritter away money if he's got nothing new in his bag. Talking to previous employers and looking at film is a lot cheaper way to evaluate fringe players.

New CFL & Bomber Games Stream Now Open
Fatty Liver replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Lookin' good! I've got it bookmarked. -
I don't see the connection between returning punts and kickoffs and playing RB, totally different skill sets and running situations. Stoudermire is probably better suited to playing receiver if he can run good patterns but no .evidence yet that he can catch the ball as well as the 3 Intls. currently in those positions.

But the western teams are going to play against each other more often in the last half of the season, they won't all stay at lopsided win/loss records like that, something has to give. We got 2 games against the Riders, 2 against the Stamps, 1 against the Esks and I guess 1 against the Lions... make those count. If they can't beat their divisional rivals then you don't deserve to make the playoffs. Win some of those games you'll get in simple as that. True enough, the Bombers played a good game to upset the Lions so hopefully they can rise to the occasion against other Western teams. The two upcoming games against the Riders will be critical to the Bombers chances and if the Lions can kick the Riders next week in BC Place that would be beautiful. I'll happily concede the Stamps first place if they can sweep EE in all 3 games this year and I'll award BC second if they can split their remaining games with both the RR and EE..
-
I'm feeling less hopeful about the Bombers playoff chances as BC is now kicking it into a higher gear. Even securing that 4th cross over position is going to be a major challenge. If the Bombers can't make hay against EE and the RR in their remaining games they're going to end up bottom shelf in the West. Let's hope for some key injuries to opposing QB's so they have a chance to up end the apple cart.

Desjardins ran the Ti Cats into the ground overspending on Casey Printers. They could have used the money saved with having Glenn on other positions. As Dee & others are saying what's the point of spending $450,000 on a 40 yr old qb who has little if anything to throw to??? As stated by others, by the time the redblacks have these weapons Hank will be retired. Glenn would have given them stability & consistency at qb at about a quarter to half the price they're paying Hank now. Glenn may have not put up superstar numbers but the money saved could have been spent elsewhere & would have made the team better than they are now with Hank starting. Look for Rick Campbell to be Marcel's first sacrificial lamb before he gets the boot himself in a couple of years. What was the worst that happens with Glenn as the qb? They have a shitty record? Same as now? Desjardins with the silly notion that all you need is a big money qb. The coach that looks even more foolish is Austin for letting Henry go.
-
Just realized almost half the season is gone and I believe the only team that has suffered injury to their QB's is Hamilton. They've lost Collaros and now it looks like Lefevour is going to be out for awhile. Last season the only QB to stay healthy throughout the season was Burris, and yet I believe sack numbers are way up this year over last years numbers. Is it possible that the stricter calling of the R.T.P. penalties and less tolerance of any QB abuses are having a positive influence in protecting the QB's?

Thought for a moment you were referring to Durant with that description. Got to laugh that Sask. fans want to hoist this guy as the league's number one QB. More like number seven, 3 inches in front of Brink.
-
You really think Sask would have given them a kick that was returnable? That would have just wasted time. Well, you can only kick it so many places like that. Yeah they could try a squibber, but those can backfire bad on you. Kick it out of bounds and you're setting the team up with a better hail mary shot A kick that bounces a couple times to the returner gives the cover team a couple extra seconds to get down field, zero chance of a return. The kicker doesn't even have to place it well. He'd have to make a catastrophic mistake to make it worth the risk for the Als to run time off with 12 seconds left. Hope the Bombers are ready for the Als D. next week, they could provide major headaches.
