  1. Even with the original play call I don't recall the Bombers successfully executing the throw into the corner this year although I know they've tried it numerous times. Seems to me a long throw in confined space is usually a bad idea, especiallly when it's a rainbow. Grigsby was a good choice as the receiver as the Ti-Cats were probably all over Kelly and Denmark but he's the wrong choice if you expect him to fight for a ball. In his own words he was scared to jump for it but luckily the pass landed right in his hands.
  2. I see no evidence of O'Shea's inventiveness on special teams, seems he's leaving it entirely to his coordinator Pat Tracey. Hopefully in the future when he's more comfortable with the H.C. gig he can spice it up a bit.
  3. I don't know who was responsible for calling the last play of the game but that was an insane choice imo. They only needed 3 yards to score, a quick slant in and a bullet to Denmark has better odds than throwing a rainbow across the field to a RB. I was virtually stunned when that play succeeded.
  4. My God, I'm not blaming Walters or Tim Burke for 2013 as neither is solely responsible for the losses of the team. What is it exactly that that you think Burke could have done to change the course of the 2013 season? Pretend he had a QB that could win? The failure of the 2013 season lies with the Bombers entire organization from players on up to the B.O.D. and it includes both Burke and Walters. You are looking for a scapegoat, you choose Burke, congratulations, enjoy!
  5. Ignorant. You don't think a head coach who throws his players under the bus at every turn, who basically said that the talent level on the team isn't good enough to win, isn't a cancer in the room? You don't think that stuff doesn't bring the team down. Have you ever had a boss that everyone hated that when he walked into the room everyone shut up and was immediately on edge? I was never in the locker room, so I can't say this is how it was, but based on what I saw of his interviews, how he composed himself, how he spoke, and what he said, I would have a very hard time respecting what he did and said as a player. And that is the worst kind of cancer to bring to any team, because it permeates from the top down. Bashing people grows old very quickly, especially after they're gone. Tim Burke had his faults no doubt, being truthful and candid were probably a few of them but in most walks of life these traits are admired. How about Walters role in the 2013 season? In your mind does he walk free without absorbing any of the responsibility for the team's losing record? For the majority of the season he was the GM above even Tim Burke if I recall. What actions did he take to provide Burke with better players so that they could win? Is he absolved of all blame? The part of your statement that I bolded actually made me chuckle. If you ever find yourself in the back of a room grumbling about your boss or organization guess what? In that situation you are the "cancer" of which you speak.
  6. Why the hell does Wetenhall need a board of directors when he owns the team? He can run it badly all on his own.
  7. Doubt Matthews is going to get back into coaching at 75 but a little pocket change never hurts. I don't think any of the Als. coaches are in line to be fired as the screw ups came from above. Even in the case of Dinwiddie he was thrown into the fire when they canned Worman so I can't see them holding him responsible for their on field problems. He's a young guy so he'll most likely accept a demotion back to assistant when they come up with a better option for O.C. but can't see that being either Matthews or this Turk guy. I guess it's safe to assume the Als did not have a dedicated QB coach prior to this hiring?
  8. Moore's absence shouldn't make much difference in this game with Kelly coming back but but I would really like to see Kohlert moved into Moore's position and Bryant switched over to WR.
  9. Golf, skiing, it's the same parasites exploiting the sport to make money off of developing the land and unfortunately the sport becomes secondary to the business. A round of golf is worth $25 not $85 IMO.
  10. Does a bear Catholic? What??? I thought about this for 10 minutes and I still don't get it. Do you mean "Is the pope Catholic"? It's a funny, purposefully non-sensical combination of "Does a bear **** in the woods?" and "Is the Pope Catholic?" I found this one funnier than the usual combination, which is "Does the Pope **** in the woods?" So kudos, Tracker, for making me laugh on a forum that isn't the one I normally go to for laughs. "Does the Pope **** in the woods?" Now that's funny!

  12. Grigsby didn't really look all that bad on Friday night. The tackles for big losses really hurt his stats. He was also asked to convert a lot of short yardage. yeah he did look that bad. He did too much side to side running rather than taking the ball upfield and not getting much he ran sideways and lost more. Just re-watching the game now. Through the first quarter Grigsby looked great. Effective both running and catching. On to the second quarter.
  13. Give your head a shake man, yer playing too many video games. Nobody that plays professional football is a "pansy". Would you like to be steam rolled by a 300 lb. lineman? Doubt it.
  14. And I cannot argue with logic like this. I disagree. I think KBF was way off base here. Bloody Hell, I was stupid enough to watch that video and now I can't get that damn song out of my head! Pay back will be coming!
  15. He has already proven that he can be productive in a better system. I wouldn't write him off yet and expect him to show his worth in the seconds half of the season once the Ti-Cats get their act together. They've got a lot of vet talent on that club that probably doesn't take kindly to getting thumped.
  16. Als. would have been smart to go after Glenn but Wally's not going to let him go until after the Grey Cup now.
  17. Their OL is truly awful. Worst in the league right now. In the second half I was watching the BC bench and the O-Line was constantly huddling together and the coach was furiously diagraming stuff. I was thinking "oh man they're going to get better now" and then boom Bryant Turner or Zach Anderson would just walk in and touch Glenn and he would fall down. I think in the second half Glenn was just gone mentally after that first drive, he had mentally checked out like I've seen him so many times before, especially when he played in Winnipeg. When he decides he's seen enough and doesn't want to play anymore it's time to pull him, but BC has nobody to put in behind him right now. I think when Lulay comes back BC will be a force to contend with. They just are rudderless and leaderless right now. Glenn is a funny duck and hard to read. They showed an interview with him during the last game and he intends to play another 3-4 years. At his age you'd think he'd had enough and would welcome retirement but that isn't the case so I guess he enjoys what he's doing. He owns a couple of Tim Hortons so don't think he's playing strictly for the money.
  18. Not concerned by this at all actually. Hamilton only has six sacks so far this season. Goossen should be able to hold himself just fine. Swiston time !? I did see Swiston on the sidelines last game dressed to play. Don't know if he got in at all though.
  19. Foresight can also be 20/20. Building up a team for the future isn't easy to do if you trade away picks and don't give your young QB's chances to compete and learn. Glenn is Glenn. He'll have some good games and some bad ones. They will average out...to average. It would have been a great decision to have him on our bench if we didn't have to give up anything higher than a 4th rounder to do it, not because Glenn is broken down, but because we need to build up our NI talent in the worst way possible. Can't get something for nothing most days, even Brohm cost something. As it turns out, he might be good enough to fill in and pull out wins. The Bombers will find out how much they could have used Glenn when and if Willy goes down for multiple games. If Brohm or Marve can step in and win games than obviously there was no need for his services. One thing is for certain to become a top level team consistently in the CFL the backup QB has to be capable of providing 3-4 wins per season when called upon. Only BC, Cgy and maybe EE with Nichols are currently secure in the QB position. Funny but the RR may have the greatest drop off in the QB position in all the league, sure hope nothing happens to Durant!
  20. He doesn't need to be on the sidelines to talk to Grigsby right away. Just put him on the headset. What good is a headset if Grigsby can't see where Buck is pointing.
  21. I can't see that improving the chances. No team has made it to the GC going that route yet. There's always a first time for everything. I'd much rather put money down on the BB beating any of the Eastern teams in a playoff game over beating the two top Western teams to advance to the cup game. The East is a mess right now but I foresee the Argos eventually being the top team just because they have Ray and their overall depth of offencive talent.
  22. Agreed, this is a very encouraging sign. This regime is not treating Canadians as temporary plugs-ins but is actually giving them the opportunity to contribute and develop as CFL players. These are the players that a team can be built upon long-term with 5-10 year careers. Hard to see Import players in the same light as they tend to have 2-3 year careers because they're easier to replace. Hoping Fitzgerald can be worked more into the game plan as I liked what I saw from him.
  23. Maybe I don't understand the playoff structure but I had an interesting thought. Would the BB not have a much better chance of appearing in the Grey Cup game if they stumbled into the playoffs through the cross-over route and won the two playoff games against Eastern teams?
  24. Our offence seems to have drifted more to double tight ends and RB blocking schemes over the first games... we need a Joe Smith for the game MB is calling now. Maybe Anthony Allen is the answer... 6'1, 220-230... Suber for Allen? Sask. wouldn't be interested in Suber, they're looking for LB types I believe. I think they also have the luxury of having 2 Intl. RB's for each game so they probably don't have any incentive to move Allen.
  25. And to run a safety blitz as well up by the same score. That was classless. He's an arrogant & cocky coach when he's winning. Add in throwing deep to the endzone a few times. Totally unnecessary. On CFL Horsemen, I made the same comment about the safety blitz being classless. Especially the hit the qb took from the backside. Totally unnecessary by Brackenridge to try to break the guy in half. What was the point of blitzing like that?? Just to rub it in the Argos faces to make them look bad. The Rider fan said this isn't croquet, it's football & if the Argos want to gamble on third down they deserve to get the crap beaten out of them. I hate the Riders & their jerk off fanbase so much. Just waiting for the time when it comes that they have a crappy team & we as well as all the teams in the CFL kick the **** out of them. I agree, their fans were a much friendlier bunch when they were lovable losers.
