  1. Right! Corrected.
  2. Best game of the year so far. Too bad ESPN couldn't have picked this one to televise.
  3. God God. What the hell was that? I thought Jones was a smart coach not just big balls.
  4. Not likely to happen but I would like to see the Bombers trade Grigsby to Sask. for Allen, he's a bigger back and has the power to compliment Cotton well. Win/Win for both teams.
  5. Where did they put Cotton back on the one game I.R.?
  6. Nice article on the TSN site regarding the Bombers honouring Cactus Jack Wells and Jack Matheson. Funny I didn't know they had a "Bob Irving Media Centre". WINNIPEG, MB., - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will honour the late Jack Matheson and Jack Wells on Thursday, two men who made a significant impact upon the Winnipeg Football Club and the CFL through journalism. In acknowledgement for their decades of dedication, the Blue Bombers are naming the press box located in the Bob Irving Media Centre, the Two Jacks Press Box to credit the men and their contributions to the team. "The two Jacks were both esteemed journalists, each a master at his craft. But more than that, they were good men who were admired and respected by everyone who knew them. Many of the journalists covering the Bombers today credit the two Jacks as being the inspiration for their own careers," said Bombers President and CEO Wade Miller. "This is one of many initiatives we are undertaking to recognize individuals who have made an impact on the Football Club." John Hampson "Jack" Wells (1911 - 1999), better known to most as Cactus Jack Wells, was a Winnipeg-based sports broadcaster who covered the Winnipeg Blue Bombers extensively during his illustrious career, which began in 1939. Cactus became the play-by-play announcer for Bombers games in 1941 and eventually became the first television voice of Western Division games for the CFL on CBC. Cactus Jack was inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1988. John "Jack" Matheson (1924 - 2011) was a legendary Winnipeg-born sports journalist who covered the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the Winnipeg Tribune and CJOB radio for nearly four decades. Jack was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1986. The Jack Matheson Award is annually presented by the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association to a student with aspirations in sports journalism.
  7. These rankings have nothing to do with last years standings and this season Sask. hasn't accomplished enough to be rated above #5.
  8. That's a bit of a shock, if he was willing to sit on the practice roster why didn't we keep him here?
  9. It'll take a cosmic shift to change the game rules and the NFL will lead the way. The CFL will follow along like a dachshund on a leash once those rules have been implemented in the NFL.
  10. If memory serves, EZerins began as a tight end but converted to decent linebacker. Yeah, he was converted to a middle linebacker by Ray Jauch but settled in at outside linebacker where he played the most of his career in Hamilton. Shows how well my memory serves. I see Ezerins is listed in the lawsuit filed by Arland Bruce. Rod Black trivia time. Nick Arakgi's son Jason is playing with the Lions as a backup LB and on special teams. This is the kind of useless detail Rod likes to talk about while he ignores the play that's developing on the field.
  11. Too bad we don't need anymore railroads......hey the oilsands! Joking!!!!!
  12. If IRC the last functional TE the Bombers may have thrown the ball to regularly was Leo Ezerins.
  13. Good one, LMFAO!!!
  14. Can't see it if they're going with Leggett. Looks like Sherman may start again.
  15. Hope they come out of the gate like they did against the Argos. Time for Moore to step up and have a big game after his blunder against Edm. It's up to the offence to get out ahead and stay there, the Defence will take care of the rest. Cut down on penalties and no costly mistakes on special teams and the Bombers have a chance. Glad BC had a good game against the Als as it takes away the Bomber excuse of not knowing what to expect from Glenn and company.
  16. It might help if they went out and found a good TE. I'm not sure what skill set Fitzgerald has other than being invisible.
  17. It might be that Wylie doesn't like his work ethic or that Jones doesn't learn very well but sure looks like it's Wylie making this decision. Somebody should show Wylie game film from last season maybe that would help to convince him that Jones can play.
  18. My guess is that Sherman returns to his role as a backup and Sears goes back to his previous position.
  19. I keep returning to the thought that the Bombers always end up with RB's that need clean holes and open space to be effective. They never seem to bring in bigger backs that can get 4 or 5 yards on their own power like Curtis Steele with the Argos or Allen in Sask.. Having two backs with different skill sets could serve them well in these kind of games rather than having a bunch of RB clones. They may have missed an opportunity to acquire Allen from Sask. perhaps a trade could have been worked out for Ford.
  20. I understand the need to upgrade the Bomber talent level but I prefer continuity and running with vets because you know more or less what you've got. Because of this I wasn't that thrilled about getting rid of Will Ford especially when he was not given any game action this year and I won't be happy if they cut loose Woods either without a superior replacement. Continually "plugging in" new players trying to improve in positions that are not really problem areas gets old quick when the results long-term are not as good as the solution the original player provided. Plus I would have to think that this player movement eventually wears on team chemistry as no player can be immune to the "who's next mentality". At some point you have to expect to run with the horses you have, funny but they used to use a phrase "making the team" which does not seem to apply anymore.
  21. Woods is not injured. He's just being stashed. Proof or speculation?
  22. Found the following quote a bit disturbing. This was game 4 how could the Bombers not know Reilly had "hulked" up. O'Shea said his team was caught off guard by the different physical specimen Reilly is this season as compared to last. "One of the things (the Eskimos) talked about was him coming back this year significantly stronger and heavier," said O'Shea. "So yeah, we underestimated him. When we look at the film we'll be disappointed we didn't squeeze a little tighter and bring him down. Because we had our chances -- he ended up getting several long runs off our missed tackles. And that's not like our defence."
  23. I remember O'Shea praising Unamba during TC, saying he was very versatile and could play anywhere in the backfield. Forgot how good Markett was on Special Teams, that might put him ahead of Suber in O'Shea's book and if nothing else he's younger and cheaper.
  24. I think the Bombers need to worry about Harris and Logan, that tandem is going to pose a big challenge for the LB's I noticed when Black is teamed with Suitor he "chatters" far less. I guess this has something to do with Suitor filling more airspace than Duane Forde. So I think it's fare to blame Forde for Black's verbal diarrhea. As for Lapo. on the panel I can't wait for Schultzie to return.
  25. I thought the defence looked pretty good last week again Sask. Led by their linebackingr core they were giving Durante fits.
