CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Consider the huge expansion of medical facilities across the street over the last decade, is that development associated with the U of Calgary or on their land? That property is way too valuable for them to rebuild a football stadium on that spot, they're probably just waiting for it to fall down and repurpose the land. A football team paying rent isn't much on an incentive to maintain the status quo and I don't know how much they care about the Dinos having a park to play in anymore, maybe they just cut their football program all together like SFU. -

They're trying to drum the dweeb out of P.P., same strategy they used to spruce up Preston Manning back in the day. Won't work. On the topic of image makeovers, apparently psychopaths can be tuned to love kittens.

It was actually in Golden BC which should have made it more expensive with taxes, but from what i could tell menu pricing was exactly the same. You're correct, mandatory wasn't the right word to describe guilt based tipping, with so many different payment systems currently in use you have to be pretty sharp to navigate around it as 0 tip is most often not one of the obvious options. I don't mind tipping for fast food when I can see it's temporary foreign workers providing the service although I wish the Fed govt. would not embrace this form of second class citizenship, my real beef is with Subway for implementing a deceptive pricing policy. Same thing MacDonald's and Tim Hortons have done with their rotating menu boards, lucky if you can spot the item you wish to purchase before the menu changes, never mind figuring out how much it's going to cost. Image has overtaken details in point of sales marketing, encouraging impulse buying.

Be wary of the new Subway numbered sub system, bought 3 12" chicken subs in Canmore and it came out to $60 with mandatory tip! On the way back, we ordered one "build it yourself" chicken sub with the same components and it came out around $15 with mandatory tip. In some of these fast food places it sure seems they're intentionally trying to obscure pricing from the product ordered. I think it's a symptom of people paying with plastic and often not even paying attention to the cost of their purchase, cause it doesn't register as strongly as paying with cash.

I think Stamps OC Pat DelMonaco is going to suffer the same fate soon, maybe not fired, but have Dickinson take over the play-calling again.

Als found some excellent new receivers in Mack and Julien-Grant, plus they have one of the Philpotts.

Diversify as in make better use of Demski, Bailey and McCrae, don't put the whole load on Brady, he's too easy to key on. Also time for Prukop to start adding a wrinkle to the attack with his own package of plays as they mentioned in the pre-season.
-
Diversify the running attack again and don't spend so much time looking for the long ball, it puts more pressure on the O-line and places Zach at higher risk of being sacked. Steal a page from LaPo and move the ball into scoring range with intermediate passing and a solid running game, a win doesn't have to look good, but it usually does.
-
It's up to the offence to put points on the board, they can't come out and lay an egg like they did in the first matchup, the burden is on Zach's shoulders to put them in position to score points. In the old days they could rely on Medlock to win epic battles by scoring 4 or 5 FG's, no reason Castillo can't do the same if put within range.

I spotted Ivey helping Cornelius up off the ground, thought he was still on the PR didn't even realize the Bombers cut him.

Kyran Moore trying to block a LB, what could possibly go wrong?

Trade Brown for Piggie, it's never too late to admit O'Shea made a terrible mistake.

Leake is a bit bigger than most returners at 6-0" 205 lbs. he has a much longer stride but can fly, reminds me of James Wilder bodywise.

I don't know which thread to post this in, but here's a bit of bad news aimed at the folks that brought us the Freedum! Convoy. Convoy organizers try to quash $300 million lawsuit https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/convoy-organizers-try-to-quash-300-million-lawsuit-1.6921835 Warms the cockles of my heart to know Tamara Lich, Pat King and company, won't be able to profit off the party they threw that trashed the house.

Week Eight: BLM Returns to Battle the Crumback

Same thing happened to Ricky Ray when he lost his arm strength, no reason Bo can't continue his career for another 3-4 years but he has to accept he's no longer a gunslinger and has to use his intelligence to distribute the ball on a shorter radius like Ray and Matt Nichols did. -

First pre-season game with the starters in, 4 players running sideways and Zach shovelling the ball off to the one going in the right direction, hope we see more of that motion later on. -

Little known fact, there were originally 8 dwarfs, they turfed Surly after he went ballistic when Snow White couldn't stop tugging on his ears. -

I see they're bringing John Murphy back next season, I suspect he never really left and has been contracting all along, probably keeping a low profile working from a remote location. https://torontosun.com/sports/football/cfl/toronto-argonauts/argonauts-shake-up-the-cfl-by-bringing-back-john-murphy-according-to-sources -

Still trying to figure out the architect of this Argo team as they don't have much of a football ops. staff, do you think it was Pinball, John Murphy working under cover, or the best remnants of the Stamps coaching staff? I can't believe it was Larry Tanenbaum....
