Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Fatty Liver replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Could be true, but Piggy made more exciting plays in one quarter than Dru Brown has in two full years with the team, and even the dumbest of fans instantly recognise excitement. What are the team's real priorities? Is it winning, entertaining or selling tickets and putting butts in seats? I'm not super high on Brown, I see him as a place holder that if ever given the chance to become a starter will likely pan out well below Arbuckle. Consider Charles Roberts probably didn't look or behave much like a pro RB in practice either, O'Shea probably would have cut him too. -

I think it's way too early in the week to determine what we're going to see on game day. -

I doubt Lawler ever left Wpg. whatever issue he's dealing with immigration is probably going through his lawyer. -

If they clamped down on all the speculation that takes place on this forum, there wouldn't be much left. O'Shea talked for 40 minutes on the Coach's Show last night and said virtually nothing. -

I'm not comparing Piggy to Bryant at all, I'm trying to point out how hypocritical O'Shea is in his evaluation of personnel. He gives certain players endless opportunities to play and improve their game while others are cut loose after their first mistake, to say his evaluation process seems arbitrary would be an understatement. -

He talked about the possibility of returning to the CFL on the "Handled Internally Blue Bombers Podcast", last Jan. he had no idea whether he would get another shot in the NFL or not. -

Piggy was given a single opportunity, how can O'Shea point to that failure so harshly and yet give Stanley Bryant and a bunch of other vets free passes for all the mistakes they made last game, "cause they're great"? -

Yep, Strev has said he wants to play and he wants to become a starter, by the time he comes back to the CFL he won't have the patience to wait for Zach to retire like Brown seems content to do and I doubt he would accept solely being used as a 3rd down specialist anymore. He can see filling that job has no long term upside. -

Seeing how tight their roster management is and how hard they squeeze the PR, they'd have to make a spot for Piggy and there's no room for a 4th QB with nothing much to do. O'Shea's focus is on this season and he's not even looking down the road past November. -

Adams always had potential, but it took him 8 years to fulfill it. Footnote: The jury has yet to decide if he can maintain it. -

In the spring Walters stated explicitly they are looking for a 3rd down specialist in the mold of Chris Streveler to run special packages, they would not be challenging Dru Brown as the secondary backup. He may have said this to provide Brown with job security so he would agree to hang around at a low wage rather than pursue other opportunities. -

You're totally wrong man, Cody's a new man now, he doesn't eat corndogs anymore, smokes cigarettes 2 at a time and curses 3 times every Saturday.....in French! -
Old Vlad is all for doing all he can to restore Russia to it's former greatness, right up until the part about sacrificing your life for the glorious future of the Motherland. "Hura!"

Hall's defence really started to come together when he was exempted from having to play any Natl. players in his secondary, that happened the day B.A. replaced Jeft Hecht at Safety. -

A few years before Collaros showed up, Hall's secondary was quite aggressive at causing turnovers and picking balls off, I don't know if it's the personnel or a philosophy change that's hindering this crop of DB's from becoming ball-hawks. Hall is probably coaching more conservatively now, with the idea that the D just needs to hold the fort until the offence gets rolling. -

Dumb play call too, rolling out in that direction he was left with few receiver options, he would have been better off putting his head down and running for the first down. -

I think you're selling Prukop short, he has excellent athletic abilities and a strong arm, tons of YouTube videos demonstrating that ability. He was much more versatile than McGuire and performed his duties flawlessly in 2022 right up until the G.C. game. If it wasn't for Pigrome, I'd sure want Prukop back. -

Disagree, what Campbell achieved in his time with the RB's was fairly impressive, he walked away from the team over disagreements with personnel decisions Marcel Desjardins kept making that continually weakened the team. -
Critics Say Submersible Should’ve Been Tested With Poorer Passengers First WASHINGTON—Analyzing the mistakes OceanGate made that led to the vessel’s disappearance, critics told reporters Thursday that the submersible should have been tested with poorer passengers first. “The company skipped the very crucial step of sending five lower-class people to the bottom of the ocean to make sure it was safe enough for the wealthy,” said Otto Scofield, a member of the Marine Technology Society, adding that no one with a net worth above $50,000 should have been in the submersible. “OceanGate made the mistake of not using minimum wage workers and unemployed people on government welfare programs to test the seaworthiness of the craft, which was not billionaire-ready. Running more trials with some homeless people would have made all the difference, and the deaths of several wealthy people could have been prevented.” Scofield continued that using children of color from impoverished families would have been ideal as more would have been able to fit inside the submersible. https://www.theonion.com/critics-say-submersible-should-ve-been-tested-with-poor-1850566314
