Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Both Kolo and Dobson are undersized and have to stuff themselves continually to maintain adequate playing weight, time to find some bigger athletic bodies like Gray with natural musculature that can handle the demands of the position better. Wallace is a good first step but they need to find two more big bodies to sustain the transition as it looks like Eli is being bypassed. -

A bit early to speculate with the Elks just starting to get their house in order, they have to sort out the future of the GM and HC first before they can pursue their QB. From their fans perspective it would be a huge negative if they couldn't retain Tre Ford, which would hinder ST sales. -

Every other HC in the West fell short of expectations, Mace at least met his. -
3rd Q, 2nd & 3 at the WPG 3, lo and behold Younger has the D-line playing a 3 man front with a good 2-3 yds. between them, Walter Fletcher takes a handoff and walks into the endzone untouched. Biggie might have seen that one coming and rerouted.

Yah, works against weaker teams but the last 2 games have demonstrated they can't do that against the better teams.

Consolation prize, the play of Western MOR Nick Anderson led to the Elks releasing Tony Jones. Nick Anderson posted really good numbers for a rookie LB, I have no problem with his selection. GP 18 DT 111 ST 5 Sacks 3 INT 1 FF 2 -

Biggie is busy rehabbing so it sure looks like he intends to come back, somebody has to tell him they're moving on, guess who won't be willing to do it? -

He'll lose to BLM in the final, I listened to a few CFL podcasts last night and voter sentiment across the country is pointing towards Bo. -
Either win or lose, I'm betting V.A. ends the game as an emotional wreck.

Yes but without the benefit of the replay I don't think anyone, including the refs. realised the ball hit the turf. The difference is the refs. let that one play out and CC corrected the call, whereas with the Ford interception he rolled out of bounds and the refs. were forced to decide immediately whether he had possession or not, ror sure if they ruled interception it would have stood. The obstacle has become overturning calls made on the field, huge priority to sort this out and re-set in the off-season. Only after CC over-turned the call.
-
Obviously the interception wasn't clear and obvious to the 2 officials who determined the call on the spot in real time without the benefit of slow motion and multiple replays. Unless you believe the officials were colluding against the Bombers??? The only thing that was obvious on first impression, is that it was a close call that could go either way.

Play find the pumpkin in the haystack with your sister. -
Figured Buck was on the sidelines this season to help out the young receivers learn their roles as they seem to be the reason for a lot of Zach's frustration. Who does he spend most of his time with when the D is on the field?
-
Willie and the D-line didn't create much pressure, but they did a very good job containing Fajardo (2 for 6 yds) and Alexander (3 for 4 yds), which is now a critical requirement when playing the Als. When Willie does make a strong push to get to the QB in the pocket he often loses contain while wrestling with the OT, Jeffcoat was much better at pushing back in a direct line toward the QB and disengaging at just the right moment.

Turn off the quadrophonic high definition surround sound and set the audio to the TV speaker or just the front 2, it makes a huge difference.

Guess who sent him, hat in hand? -
True, the Bombers are still dominant in the West but have fallen behind both the Als and the Argos in talent along both trenches. If these 2 teams were in their division they'd play them more often and recognize the problem clearly after multiple beatings, but as it is they play them once or twice a year and are always surprised when they're unable to dominate the line play, which usually happens in the Grey Cup. Best kept secret, the Als are holding Mustafa Johnson in reserve for the playoffs, he's likely to rip a QB's heart from his chest and eat it at center field!

Under "spread the awards around" Polk is the Argo's best bet. -

Makai Polk finished with 1,024 yds. receiving, he may beat our Wilson for MOR if he doesn't put up a hundred yard game today and make a serious impression. -

I could be wrong but I don't think a ST player other than a kicker or returner has ever won the award before and isn't likely to this season. It will probably comes down to Janarion who certainly deserves acknowledgement for his career work, or Sean Whyte who has been outstanding in making 50 of 53 FG's this season, with the ceremony in Vancouver Whyte will probably be chosen the Belle of the Ball just for the extra media attention it will generate. Never forget they gave this guy an award in Regina, just for showing up at the ceremony on time with his shoes on the right feet. -

The voters always try to balance out the awards and spread them around, the most the Bombers can hope for is Brady receiving one award and Ontaria Wilson winning MOR. Stanley has been capped at 4, and Ty Ford stands little chance of winning against Milligan and the green background noise that's pushing him for MOP. -
They won more games at home this season but drew less fans, just another stadium where there are more empty seats than people.
