Bombers Rookie Camp/Training Camp/Pre-Season Thread

I remember when a stud named Kyle Knox couldn't displace Sam Hurl as the MLB, it had little to do with the physical tools he possessed, he just wasn't smart enough to understand the playbook. -

Excuse me, you want to wait until the end of Aug. to upgrade the D-line? -

They lost Sayles and replace him with Schmekel? I don't understand how that even makes sense from a ratio perspective, I'd be very happy with Caleb Thomas on the roster in his place. The same with Bennett, I could see him placed on the PR for future development, but he did nothing to show he's ready to help out at DE anytime soon. -

The weirdest thing about the play was that Lemon got past Stanley to whack Nichols. -
You almost expect a dynamic QB like Pigrome to show up in the CFL every few years, it's usually with a bottom-dweller like the Elks or the RedBlacks were they get thrust into starting too quickly, flame out rapidly and are bypassed by the next inexperienced QB charged with the hopeless task of turning around a losing season. Piggy is lucky he landed in the right spot and will be managed carefully.

Walters pretty much said earlier in the spring they are looking at the 3rd string QB position only in this context, "a Streveler like solution for 3rd downs and special packages". Piggie will get his chance to advance, but he's not pushing Brown out of the way this year, unless Zach goes down and Brown fails to deliver.

Danielle Smith is about to implement a program in Alberta scooping addicts off the streets and depositing them in facilities owned and operated by "for profit enterprise". Worked for Hitler, so why not. It will be interesting to see the cost of this program and whether it significantly improves the addicts behaviour, or if it's just a cash cow that shovels $$ towards her cohorts and changes nothing.

Is this a joke? I wanna see a DNA test because Jeremy Murphy clearly has O'Shea blood. Mike O'Shea JR. was just a decoy!!!! -

If they don't have to pay Lawler for 3 or 4 games the cap savings would be significant. -

I was responding to Goalie's suggestion that Castillo could be at risk of losing his job to Staton, I don't think a decision like that should be made quickly, again experience and past performance under pressure counts. -

Replacing Castillo with a hasty decision is where the unknowable risk comes in. How do you know if anyone will perform well under pressure, if they've never performed under pressure before? Experience counts. -

I think the most logical/least risk option is to keep Leggs and Castillo for now, move the best Global that can do both jobs to the PR and see how he develops. If he works out well it gives them the option of improving the kicking game as they see fit and the possibility of trading away a vet. If he doesn't work out so be it, they're back to where they were when they won the GC in 2021. -

BC just released former Bomber DE Alex McCallister who looks like a Willie clone, may be worth taking another look if they're not happy with their crop of new DE's. -
So ramp oilsand production up with out limits and pay no heed or penalty for output emissions, is that the goal? Some folks still voting for climate denial while the northern half of the province burns to cinders, can't make this stuff up. Look and see, AB. produces the most GHG emissions in Canada...but that's not enough, they want to produce more!

Stumbled upon "Smartless:On the Road" which is a 5 episode doc. following the road tour of the popular Smartless podcast hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, interesting guests and a lot of easy laughs. Interesting to discover Will Arnett has some real MB. roots even though he grew up in T.O., both his parents were originally from MB. and he spent summers in the province with his grandparents growing up. He also mentioned working 4 months replacing sewer lines under Wpg. streets, so he must of spent time in the city as an adult. His father was a corporate lawyer, who served as the president and CEO of Molson Breweries from 1997 to 2000, so at no point was Will ever slumming it. Also discovered Jason Bateman is a bit of a freak.

I can think of a third interpretation, a "CFL suspension" means you can make use of the designation however you choose, and no one will ever follow up on it. -
Statements like these are about to become a dime a dozen, rural Alberta elected the govt. they wanted, the UCP culled from all Edmonton and a lot of Calgary leaves very few moderate voices available for caucus without much representation from their two urban centers. .Basically the Wildrose Party finally found a way to win an election, without running under their own banner. A method Harper first employed when he morphed the original Reform regressives into the CPC. Expect a lot more grievance with Ottawa, ill thought through social policies, and weird ideological experiments in their public school system trying to warp time back to the 1950's.

God I'd love to see her do a quick backflip on the Flames deal.
