Bombers sign NI receiver Ezra Millington
Stickem replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Any relation to Sean, late of the CFL. Someone must have something on the guy. -
Heenan & Holmes won't re-sign before free agency
Stickem replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Back up the money truck Walters and put out some big ones for Heenan. Would be nice to see a little payback for the Labatte theft. Holmes wouldn't be too bad either. -
Now the Leafs are a great organization to emulate. NOT. The team has a captured audience as season tickets are virtually willed from family member to family member. We don't have that luxury in the Peg. We better produce a winner or at least resemble one. That hasn't been the case the last few games and the empty seats are a testament to that. I hope and pray we can get our act together next year cuz I don't like what I see in the future. Blind followers we ain't.

Some say we inherited a bad lot to go forward. I don' think so. We had a corps of very good players who should have been built around. We didn't inherit a lot of the present key coaching staff, they were chosen, and as far as I'm concerned are a failed bunch. O'Shea gets a pass because it is a new position for him, Etch. and Bellefueille, not so much. They were not very successful in the past and now we are reaping the result of their ineptness. They are not going to magically get better. I think the players genuinely like Mike but I also know they aren't that gullible as to believe Etch and Bellefool are going to take them to the promised land. One of the main reasons for another failed season (getting tired of this crap) is that we had a green head coach and poor recycled offensive and defensive co-ordinators. The change starts there. Failing to do that will only bring us more of the same.

I'd like to see both Marve and Willy get playing time. We want to end the season on a winning note for sure. Cal. is more than likely wanting to play second stringers as they have nothing really at stake. However I'm sure Huff would like to keep his guys tuned up for the playoffs BUT we should want it more, if only to make a statement about next year. IF Willy is not getting it done as was the case in our last outing, I want to see what else we have. I hope Mike isn't afraid to make the change, if need be.

In any business when you are incompetent you are shown the door. Making excuses for failure is only opening the door for more failure. Someone is going to have to answer for this total collapse and I'm sure Miller is very aware where the problems lie. I'd be surprised to see him want to continue with the same staff as presently exists. If you want an example of firings midseason, you only have to look at the Als. who got rid of the deadwood quickly and went on to hire people who appear to be succeeding. They look to be in better shape than us at present after firing a head coach and offensive co-ordinator midstream. This baloney about hanging on to failed coaches leads to promoting more failure. I believe O'Shea will survive his first year, some of his co-ordinators, not so much. Putting forth the same crew that has led to this midseason debacle is not going to fly. I look for changes not to just appease a blood thirsty fan group (and there is a lot) but to make this team better AND we can do better.

Willy, Bellefeuille, this one is on you guys!
Stickem replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
From where I was sitting, it looked like Willy was running in cement. Very slow making his reads as well. Is he that banged up or is he just that type of plodding qb. If so, in either case, we'll need a super human o line so that our qb. can get the proper protection and Willy can get a passing play in. This rag tag outfit posing as an o line doesn't cut it. Also the holes Cotton was getting were due mostly to his diminutive size. He made lots happen on his own. In any case the first priority is to get an o line that works and is competent. I thought we'd at least see 'some' improvement in that area by now. Appears not to be the case. -
BIG mistake leaving Willy in when it was plain to see to everyone in the stadium he was not performing. Sure he has to get game experience but this was a game we had to win. Would Marve have pulled it off? We'll never know now. Mike has a lot to learn, and sticking with your starter when there was obvious ineptitude, and the chance to be injured, is nutz. I don't want to see Etch back here next year or Bellefool. If O'Shea sticks with these losers it could be his undoing. Well, on to next year and contemplate our high pick in the draft, AGAIN. Maybe if we can continue to pick up quality Canadian talent with high pics we'll have a winner by 2025.

Durant on cusp of return to Riders lineup!
Stickem replied to Migs's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So is Joseph one and done and heading back to his wheelchair. C'mon....even if Durant is throwing (tentatively I bet) it doesn't mean he'll be ready for game action anytime soon. Rider coolaid. -
I wonder if Lawless still thinks Heenan is the answer and that we should drop a bundle on him in fa. He wasn't that great and Willis was eating his lunch all game.. He looked like he wanted to play himself off the club. However on further thought , he could fit right in here.
-
Joseph surprised the hell out of me after he took a few shots and kept on tickin. I don't think he'll be that lucky IF they have to go with him in a playoff game and the intensity is ratched up.

So we want to bring in a guy who has slipped from oc to special teams. I think we can do better than that.
-
What a waste of space and cash. One of the worst offseason deals made.
-
Kind of sucks for Smith, if he wanted to catch on with someone else. Grigsby has the opportunity to and that's the difference between us and Mont. We're the nice guys and it seems we always finish last. Popp can be a real knob and has the rep. of finishing first. Maybe we have to be a little more cutthroat in our approach in this business. Playing by all the rules has netted us sweet bugger all.
-
Agreed about players going 'off' on twitter. It's hard for O'Shea to control that. That's why some of these guys better re-read what they've put out there. Could be nothing but trouble to follow.

Saying goodbye to the quitters is always a good way to start over. Anymore care to leave now...stand-up and be counted, should be the refrain from Mike. I think we may have a few more judging by our last 2 lacklustre performances .

Odds and Sods - Winnipeg Blue Turkeys vs Edmonton Eskimoes
Stickem replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The source of this mess can also be attributed to hiring friends and or acquaintances. I'm pretty sure the Tracey hire fits that category and most likely Etch. They both have to go. Belefueille should also be on the bubble. They're incompetent. Mike also has to figure out that you can't be buddy buddy and act like a player. You won't get much accountability with that scenario. This team did not show up for two games now. If O'Shea can't see the huge red flags, then he better take a good long snort of the stuff he has at the bench. Wake-up Mike. -
Pathetic and more 'I quit this year' play by the Bombers. Bye bye.
-
Riders stinking it up in Mont. They must have loaded up on poutine yesterday, the way they're arses are draggin in this one. Can't wait till they have to insert ol folks. Will they win another one the rest of the way? lol Looks good on those melonmunchers.

Gives a whole new meaning to 'folded like a cheap suit'. I bet you could've fried a steak on the back of Austins neck after that one. Argos took a big step toward securing top of the heap in the east. Can they hold it?
-
ol folks Joseph???? Panic button pressed real hard in riderville lol. Hey Migs, Durant must be around the corner alright. Around the corner waiting with a wheelchair for his replacement to show up. What a laugher.

Leos look very beatable. Their vaunted d just took a hit with Ronnie Yell one of their best dbs looking like he's done and with Harris gone, they're hurting bad. They do have a gimme coming to town with the RedB'S up next, but after that it gets tough. I'd say we have the tougher grind but the door is still open a crack. Pull it together O'Shea, were still in it...by a thread.

Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan
Stickem replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah Gary, I bet Heenan is falling all over himself to sign on with the bluengold. A truckload of cash resembling Durants salary wouldn't even get it done. Get serious. I'm not saying don't try, but let's find some serious solutions to our problems instead of these airy fairy ideas. Start by going after this Horton guy released in argo land. Not an o line player but certainly wouldn't hurt to have a look at him at linebacker. Guess Gary didn't notice we're thin in that area. Find some solutions now, not in next year country. -
The tackling on this team resembles a player trying to do his best to get out of the way of the opposition. Kind of wave at the guy, fall down and hope you can grab an ankle. Laying a solid hit on the opposition player (running backs for sure) is out of the question. The 'steamrolled' look is what I picture our guys as having. Sad says indeed in Bomberland AGAIN and it's back to fundamentals, or at least it bloody well better be. Signed Disgusted.

It all started going wrong when Stubler decided to go to Cal. and we got stuck with Etch. It looked like a 'consolation' hire. His defences are erratic and were not that successful in the past, once the opposition caught on. We are stuck with him now till the end of the season. If Mike doesn't pull the pin on this guy, we will be in the same jackpot we're in now. I will really start to judge O'Sheas decision making if Etch is kept around. I'm not that sold on our offensive genius either. Turbulent times ahead AGAIN.
