It's time to hand the ball to McGuire
Stickem replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Matt was a lot younger when he broke in with Edm.....Broke is the correct term as he broke his leg the first year....then managed to tear up his leg the next year causing him to lose the season....Is he injury prone?? I think the jury is out on that one and if you look at how he's come up nic'd since joining us.....hmmmmm you decide...Is it bad luck or bad bones...Look at the career of another qb....albeit the past ...Damon Allen for one...The guy was immune to injury so much so that he earned the nick name 'Gumby'..Some people are just built different and if you end up in the right category...longevity follows...I know which category Nichols belongs in and ...'brittle' is a descriptive word in that category -
It’s time to hand the ball to Kevin Glenn

That's a for sure....They have great chemistry and know exactly how to get it done....I'd also like to see Harris hit the hole a couple of times and then give them a taste of Streve.... Wear the opposition D out...then give them a shot of Woli.. Road to success -

Bennett would be alright....He certainly knows the way between Sask. and Wpg. BUT the melon heads would probably want some ridiculous compensation...We definitely should have another qb. in town besides Streve and McGuire....Don't like anything back east sooooooo we're in a binder....Kevin Glenn is not the answer ...Going to be an interesting call by Walters -
D's win championships ...that's the line that goes around AND if that's the case we stand as good a chance as anyone in the west to win it all....Nichols going down is going to hurt (probably hurting him a lot more than us) but we do have talent behind centre as well....Used properly I think we can hang with the rest of the west...and I'm sure glad that Streveler is built like a brick poop house cuz I don't want to see the curse take another guy out...We're kind of jumping to conclusions but if Matt's shoulder is indeed totally separated, then I think that's all she wrote for him in 19'...Just when everything seemed to be going along quite smoothly along come the bloody Lemonater...Anyway onward and upward....next man up and all the support he needs...No other way to go

Was picked pretty easy and was looping toward the sideline....but definitely deflected.... Maybe it wouldn't have been deflected if it had more on it...Anyway why are we arguing semantics about a bad play we don't want to ever see again -

Throwing off balance and on his back foot looked like to me......produces a ball with little velocity...But you see it your way...I see it mine -

Yeah it was deflected because it was a floater and thrown off balance....you knew that right...It was a poorly thrown ball...BUT to be fair I haven't seen Streve throw that many bad ones and he'll learn to just chuck it into the seats when pressured like that and off balance...In fact that's what I thought he was trying to do when it was deflected...Might have been better to have run and just eat it -

That last line says a lot and I hope Paul and Chris are talking things over promptly IF Matt can't go -
Would that be wrestling/.....The guy looks to me to be an opportunist....if you're winning I give it a 100 percent....if you're the T.O. arenogoods then I float...Not my type of player

The one pass that Streveler chucked up that was picked looked gawd awful....He better lose that kind of play...Off balance ...there was nothing on the ball...just a floating beach ball headed for the waiting arms of a defender,...I could have pic'd that one...For the most part he looked alright and I know he can be better....How much better...I think we're about to find out As far as McGuire goes....we did keep him around for a reason...The coaching staff has seen something more than just a smooth qb.....He did beat out Bennett for the third spot so that along with his 'smooth' play might just get him a shot IF Streveler craps the bed....Experience would be a problem................ so here we go again -
Odds and Sods - BC Lions vs Blue Bombers
Stickem replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
When we're in the red zone close to the goal line that's Streveler time....Why Nichols is trying to run it in from close proximity (more than a yard) doesn't make sense when we have Streve as an option...I know Nichols did squeeze one in from the ONE but otherwise I think he should defer to Streveler -

I think Streve has regressed a bit also...AND due to the fact he doesn't get concentrated game time ...Getting shuffled in and out and not considered the starter can be a reason....That is his role however BUT when he's going to be asked to be 'the man' it could reflect in his play in a more positive manner..Just a hunch but I think we have to see what he's really got when he has to carry the club -
Reilly is operating on a bad pin....We know running is a big part of his game so I would think he'll sit in the pocket.....IF we blitz continually and are on our game.....oh my...He could be one battered qb. by the end of this one.....There's a few of our D Line guys licking their chops at the prospect of upping their sack total
-
I agree on Lawrence....BUT remember back when the opposition was literally trying to take Buck out in the same fashion...Nothing done then and I doubt nothing will occur now with regard to Reilly...AND SO IT GOES
-
Brutal miss by the refs..................almost as bad as the spot the argo's got against us last game of a first down that wasn't ......Totally inept officiating when calls like this are made or totally missed...In any event what a pasting Reilly took but continued with his heroics...Call it dumb pride but there's no way he should have finished that game with a healthy O'Brian waiting in the wings...How much did the leos' give Reilly to sign on??.....It will be going up in a puff of smoke if their coach doesn't smarten up......and quit sticking his tongue out...All Claybrooks needs to do is turn his cap sideways while doing the tongue thing...What an image of intelligence that presents////LOL

Bottom line after that poor offensive showing is something has to change...We're going nowhere in the playoffs with that performance...I really think it's time for our illustrious OC to put in plays for a tandem....When Matt is going into wilt mode, throw in a change of pace...and on a regular basis...Keeps the opposition guessing ...This offence has too many weapons that are not being used properly....Time to do a little experimenting when the Leo's come to town...Good place to start -

Don't know where Matts game has gone but the inconsistency is glaring...Just like in the T.O. game when the game was on the line, and we needed to move the ball in the late going, he comes up short...His inability to run is hurting his game...He looks scared to throw deep and as well take off when the opportunity presents itself...Something has to change -
Grant......a fantastic start to his Bomber career Harris.....the heart and workhorse of this club...shines once again Sayles....he was all over the field making plays An honorable to Streve...he punished that Cal. D Line with his gutsy running
-
So 'Game Manager' is dead then........'Thin Ice' is kinda cold....but I can go with it....Nichols better come up with something better than the last two offerings or that thin ice could get a helluva lot thinner
-
Nichols is beginning to look very Drew Willyish......Gives you something and then turns it into something fit for the dumpster....He's demonstrating skills.....or lack thereof... that got a quarterback sent packing and traded for a first rounder....hmmmmm....If Matt can't turn things around next game it's time for a change...insert the back-up before everything goes south...Failing that the coach should be on the hot seat, and a promising season starting to look like it's being frittered away, should be laid at his doorstep...(no not a load of manure)

If you watch the non=challenge of that spot that kept an argo drive alive, O'Shea was slow and struggling with it....That was not a first down and the chains were brought in and disappeared before the bloody things were even stretched out....AND no challenge...That was a coaching error of great proportions that 'could' have cost us that game...Whenever there's a challenge O'Shea looks unsure and dithering and it's a wonder we get any of them dealt with properly...Those refs. are bunglers at times and that whole spot was rushed in and rushed out before we could blink...Bogus baloney that makes this league look really bad....BUT O'Shea should have been on top of that spot at that critical juncture of the game....We were conned
