  1. just watched the cfl.ca highlights of this game and you are very correct... Ansah had great coverage on Carter but he just made some fantastic catches... one of those games from Carter that justifies keeping him on the roster despite his asshat personality... now the Riders just wish they could get that every game... And WTF was Sears thinking on that play?... I though people were exaggerating when they said it may have cost them the game... it would've been third down with TO getting the ball nearly in FG range... dumb move by him...
  2. There is definitely one angle where you can clearly see Harris' elbow down... however, it is from the end zone going straight up field (to the north)... you can also see Harris holding the ball up in the air from that replay... it is literally impossible to tell where the ball is at that angle... so if that's the "proof" that someone wants to hang their hat on for a "objective opinion"... good for them, I guess... Also "I have a more objective mind than all of you" reminds of the classic "I know more about football that all of you combined" from our old pal Tuscaloosa Blue... if you want to immediately lose credibility, I recommend one of these statements...
  3. I was saying to my friend that penalty felt like an "idiot test" kind of penalty... there was absolutely no reason to shove the QB long after he threw the ball... that being said, I don't think it should have been a penalty, but I guess I understand the logic... I normally trust your opinion but this one seems confusing... are you suggesting we play Corney at MLB?... would that be only in a pass rushing capacity?... would that not tip off the offense to what's coming up?.... just wondering if you could expand on this thought...
  4. I disagree... they just kept playing... were they just supposed to give up cuz they were playing against hot garbage?... also consider a lot of back-up were in the game... they wanted to show the coaches what they can do... I wouldn't consider something that already happened in the off-season too crazy of a prediction...
  5. look who's back after a Rider win...
  6. Looks pretty good to me... this is my first visit since the update so I'll probably need to play around a bit before knowing what does and doesn't work... on another note... I don't think enough thanks can be said to Rich and the gang about the great work they do on this site... by far, the best fan site in the CFL... thanks again guys!
  7. This is the first time I've seen that angle... thanks for posting it.... changes my opinion on the play... looks like he led with his helmet the whole time, didn't even get his arms involved
  8. Wow this game was confusing... Mtl OL had given up 3 sacks in 5 games coming in.... and we sacked Durant 5 times.... yet their offense still goes for 500+ yards and pick apart our D... Mtl averaged around 19 points a game coming in with their season high being 23... they had 24 at half time... something NEEDS to be done with this defense... they've given up 40+ points in 3 games this year... and miraculously the team is 2-1 in those games... and on the other side of the ball... Matt Nichols and the offense looked fairly inadequate most of the game... yet Matt's final stat line, looks like that of a HOFer...34/43, 358 yards, 2 TDs, no picks, 22 yards rushing... Harris ends up with 21 touches for 134 yards and 2 TDs... and the reffing... some really bad calls both ways... for those who forget all the calls in Mtl's favour in the first half... my friend and I were joking Al Bradbury (a Winnipeg native) was intentionally "reverse home cooking" just so no one would accuse him of helping the home team... turns out he's just moderately incompetent like most of the league's refs ... and let me get this straight.... twitter/other fans and people were complaining about the Harris TD being the "blown call".... it was one of the few they got right! last thought.... the Chris Ackie RTP call, I thought was fairly incidental... but at least it was consistent... you will never see a QB get hit helmet-to-helmet without a RTP call...
  9. IMO opinion, the only thing, as fans, we are "entitled" to is the team showing up every week and giving 100% on every play... and that should be the coaches main responsibility... any other piece of news or info can stay in house for all I care... I just want my money's worth when the guys step on the field...
  10. then you go back to Harris the next series... I'm sure you've watched him enough in his career to know that he only gets stopped for so long... and I don't love the "fly-sweep" either but it has had decent success for the most part this year...
  11. Is there a brave soul willing to gamble on Hamilton... @Zontar?? As of this post it's 37-0 in favour of Calgary...
  12. Hate to follow the crowd.... but hard to imagine Messam doesn't score against Hammy... Jerome Messam (or James, like someone mentioned)
  13. For the record, I meant that as a legitimate question... I think they're pretty good too... just wondering if that's the kind of starting 7 he prefers?... I like ours better, but I'm not saying Mtl's is bad...
  14. This one be one of the oddest comments you've had in a while... which says a lot... First off, Walker is not Canadian... secondly, you missed Westerman... third you missed a heavy dose of Jake Thomas (which is a good thing)... fourth, Chungh, Goossen, Westerman, Loffler, and Harris are all above average, if not excellent, players... do we need to be fielding 7 CFL all-star Canadians for you to be satisfied with our Canadian content?? Would you prefer if we had Phil Blake, Luc B-J, Kris Matte, George Johnson, Shologan, Jabar Westerman, and Chirs Akie?.... Seriously, would you consider that a better starting 7?
  15. If you're trying to suggest that the team completely ignores mistakes and does not make adjustments to improve.... that's complete bullshit...
  16. This got me thinking about rugby... for comparison sake, I wonder how many former or current pro rugby players are suffering from major brain injuries like we see in football... maybe it's a big deal but we don't hear much about it in NA...
  17. While I certainly recognize that CTE is real and brain damage is prominent in all major contact sports... the stat about 90% (for example) of examined brains having CTE is extremely skewed... the only brains they are examining are ones that are volunteered by athletes who had post career issues and are basically expecting to find something... the former players who go on to live normal lives with no symptoms are not the ones offering up their brains post-mortem... actually, I wrote all this up before reading the article, and they basically say the same thing in the article: "McKee cautions that the study has some limitations and doesn’t attempt to pinpoint a CTE rate. The brains studied were mostly donated by concerned families, which means they weren’t random and not necessarily representative of all men who have played football."
  18. even bigger news.... Hugh O'Neill is still in then CFL?? and the ironic part is how woefully bad we were at kicker for so many years before Medlock (save for Lirim's rookie season)...
  19. first round of the 2016 draft... He's Canadian... and they are desperately thin at NI... chances this means anything in the long run.... around 0% can't replace a Canadian with an American unless you place to change the ratio elsewhere...
  20. Re: the coaching staff... I'm still on board with Mike... I think he has the smarts and the balls to be a HC, and the players will always play for him... not so sure about the coordinators though...
  21. Impossible to not give Mike Miller a ton of credit on that play... I can't imagine trying to corral a bouncing football in a pressure-packed situation like that... agreed... I think I've said this after every single game this season... IMO having both Flanders and Harris in the line up would do wonders for our offense...
  22. hahaha.... thanks! that is what I meant
  23. this is exactly the way I feel... like we gave this one away... it was actually nearly identical to the sask game: slow start followed by a period of dominance, then falling apart in the 4th the give the game away... except sask is not good enough to take a game when it's given to them... BC is
  24. It was first down right?... If it was 3rd, I would understand some serious sour grapes... if anything BC fans should be happy they gave it to us on 1st rather than taking 3 tries... that gave them the time needed to make the come back
