You're absolutely right... getting him was probably whole lot easier said than done... just seems to me that is where they went wrong... from what I've read, it "sounds" like there wasn't too much effort and it seems like Canada had just as much interest in keeping him there (for information acquisition purposes) as the US did anyways... and of course, it's a lot easier to make that determination in hindsight...

doing a little more reading on this... it seems to me like the gov't really shot themselves in the foot by not getting him out of Gitmo asap.... had they done that, we would be a lot better off... morally and financially...

Looking Ahead: Toronto Vs Winnipeg

Hate is a strong word ... I commented after game 1... and still feel this way... I really wish the team would dress Flanders and find a way to get him involved in the game... IMO, the kind of difference he would make to our offense greatly outweighs the minimal impact Lankford has on teams... -
This is an excellent post... while I had questions about his "refugee" status... you've since clarified your point which I also agree with... The facts (as I see them) are as such: 1. Khadr was a terrorist who fought on behalf of al Quadea (spelling??) 2. Was he forced into it by family? I seems that way. 3. Did he throw that grenade? Evidence seems inconclusive but I'm leaning towards no. 4. Was he tortured at Bagram? Evidence suggests he was not. 4. Was he tortured at Guantanimo? I think we all know what the purpose of that facility was/is (in other words, yes). So my main questions is what was the Canadian gov'ts failing in this case?... Are they just guilty of not getting him back to Canada?... In my opinion, the greatest injustice he served was torture at Gitmo... and would that not be under American jurisdiction?... So why would his lawsuit not be with the American gov't? Please let me know if I'm missing something here (I'm being sincere )

I don't know why so many people think playing Leggett at HB is the answer to all our defensive problems... he has ONLY played safety and SAM in his time here and has excelled at both spots... would he be a good HB? maybe... but we have absolutely no evidence of that... -
Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
bearpants replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So in this scenario you would be extremely frustrated, sure... but would you physically assault the cop? Obviously not... No excuse for Mr Hill... 10 games in the NHL (minimum suspension for "assaulting" a ref) is 12.2% of the season... 2 games in the CFL is 11.1%.... I think 2 games would have been the appropriate suspension... but I'd have no problem with 3 or 4... I don't know what the standard is in the other leagues... BTW, did you guys hear about the two pretzels that were walking down the street... one was a salted.... -
If he is able to play any receiver spot at all this season with any success... that would be a major win... to suggest he should be starting after his first day of his first CFL practice... is a tad premature...

So basically our top recruit for MLB over the last two years... isn't even a MLB...

It's easier to accept human error...

random fans trying to pass off complete speculation as fact is probably my favourite thing about fan forums

It seems a lot of people are suggesting we replace our WIL LB with a MLB... I'd bet Jovan Santos-Knox (who looked pretty good in pre-season) will just get called up from the PR... I like Ian Wild... but perhaps we should have invested in Khalil Bass when we had a chance... #HindsightFTW

I was mostly just bugging you... but my point is 2013 Muamba is definitely on the list, probably top-20... we basically have no idea what kind of player 2017 Muamba is... so it's premature to even have him "in consideration" right now... if he comes back from injury and plays like the all-star MLB he once was... then he's definitely back in the conversation...
-
kettle, meet pot .... Muamba hasn't done anything in the CFL since 2013... that's not to say he won't ever find his form again... it's just these are "what have you done for me lately" type lists...
-
That's not technically true... it isn't really an "open" competition b/c of ratio considerations... I'm not saying he's definitively better than Hurl, but it's incorrect to say Hurl "won" the starting position...

Did you even read what @Sard said?

That's odd... I typically find dust and the occasional moth when I open my wallet... especially when it's my turn to pay

Manny Arceneaux (does it need to be spelled right to count?!)

thanks, that would be the one... but for the record, I saw it on twitter before I saw your "ICYMI" post...

I was thinking the same thing watching the game... I think the contributions Flanders could bring to our offense far out-weigh the minimal impact Lankford has on teams... if a receiver gets hurt in game, you can go with Coates, play Harris in the slot, or have more two back set with Harris and Flanders... just seems like such a waste to have such a good player sitting out... sorry, but there is absolutely no question Medlock is far and away the best FG kicker in the league... there's currently no one even close to second... and the money was "redistributed" but that's not even the point... even if he took a pay cut that still doesn't prove your point... if he was a 75% FG kicker, then you would be correct, he is way over paid...
-
He got 15 yards for it... but really, it was a clearly established TD at that point and there's really no other reason to do that except intent to injure... maybe the league looks at it, but I doubt it...

My thoughts (not necessarily in any order): Tim Burke - just completely clueless in every sense.... seems like he even forgot how to run defense when he became a HC... Mike Kelly - he had a few problems... 1) he wore too many hats, which is a terrible idea for a rookie HC... 2) his offense was out-dated and ineffective.... 3) he was terrible with all things PR.... but certainly not the worst HC we've seen Jeff Reinebold - see too many hats issue... not really sure too much else about him.. that was near the beginning of my Bomber fandom and I wasn't exactly analyzing coaching decisions at 12 years old Joe Zaleski - long before my time... but I literally never heard a good thing about this coach... Doug Berry - insulting that you included him on this list... he took the team to the Grey Cup and would have had a very good chance to win if not for losing his starting QB...
-
I don't agree with everything you say... but I do appreciate your contributions... If someone read this thread without watching the game, one would assume Matt Nichols was dominant from beginning to end... and that simply wasn't the case... it's nice to get a differing of opinions too... makes for healthy discussion... my take... Nichols and the entire offense started off rusty... which wasn't completely unexpected given the circumstances... once they started to click they offense looked dominant... my concern is the last 8 or so mins of the game... neither side of the ball came up big when we needed it... when sask made it 37-30, we needed either a big stop from the D or a nice time killer from the O (capped by any score) to close out the game... and we didn't get either... I fear if we let Edm or Cgy back into a game like that it won't even get to OT... In conclusion, I liked most of Nichols' game on Saturday... but he needs to work on some consistency and play a complete game...

Someone pointed out on twitter (I don't remember who but please speak up if it was someone from this site)... Jones lost to Durant in week 1, Dressler in Week 2... and now they face John Chick in week 3... possible the 3 most beloved players from their recent 8 year stretch of success....
-
Shhhh... we don't talk about that around here anymore...
