Just a follow up on Bill Paxton... He died due to complications from the heart surgery that lead to a stroke... in case anyone was wondering... sad story http://www.eonline.com/ca/news/834098/bill-paxton-s-cause-of-death-revealed
-
I was wondering the same thing too... Auclair is almost a lock to be in the NFL next year... but I guess Ankou is getting some interest too... I always find it interesting that every CFL mock draft is so different...
-
But what is Jones' history at safety?... I suggested Waggoner b/c he played safety in college and has the similar size and physical edge to Loffler... and Morgan b/c the reason we drafted him was due to his versatility, including ability to play safety... I agree that Derek Jones has contributed more on defense and brings more experience... but if I recall correctly, his experience is mostly, if not exclusively, at field corner...
-
It's interesting that the Bombers list Waggoner as a DB... but he shows up as a LB on the depth chart.... I've always wanted to see him at Safety... I wonder who they have as Loffler's back up this year... maybe Waggoner, or maybe Brendan Morgan...

Jones has coordinated good defenses pretty much everywhere he has gone... so I expect the Riders D to be better in year 2... however, he was gifted a QB in Edmonton... and not having one has been one of the biggest failings of their offense the last couple years...

Of course... that's pretty much exactly what everyone is saying -

This would be inaccurate... Chicago had one of the leagues top offenses in his time there... but the D was brutal and they weren't winning... in Baltimore they also had a good offense under Trestman, but he was let go b/c we wasn't running the systems the team wanted... translation: he was a good O-coordinator in the NFL... just not a good HC... ultimately he wasn't winning, and that's all that matters in this business... -

Not a lot of people have a son that played QB for SFU... -
That would be nice... starting 9 Canadians Bryant - Bond - Goossen - Chungh - Hardrick Denmark - Smith - Dressler - Stafford - Adams Nichols Harris - Normand Westerman - Nevis - Scott - Okpalaungo Leggett - Knox - Wild Randle - Heath - Loffler - Johnson - Frederick *Note*: yes I realize every player may not be in the right spot... this was merely a position by position reflection...

Yeah Darryl Waud was in camp with Washington... but he left after about a week to go back to Toronto... If I recall correctly, I think it had to do with being in the no fun league... he wanted to come to a place where he would actually enjoy football knowing that his career would likely be limited... -
I'm kind of torn on it... on one hand, I don't really care where the players come from, I just want a winning team... we all cheer for Nichols, Dressler, Denmark, Wild and Leggett b/c they play for the Bombers, not because of where they were born... on the other hand, it is kind of cool to see an underrated kid from Winnipeg emerge as one of the top RBs in the CFL... and then to have him come home and play for the Bombers makes a nice little story... but it doesn't make or break the game for me...

I get it, there's absolutely no middle ground between success and failure .... literally, no body has said he has been a success... IMO he has been a disappointment thus far and he has this year to prove he belongs... if he doesn't, then I think it's fair to call him a failure... -
Ok fair enough... I just think on the list of things to "change" or "improve" in the CFL... "changes to the ratio" is probably not even on the list...
-
The only place where strength comes into play is sweeping... I dated a curler (she was active on the circuit) many moons ago and she once told me while playing in a fun bonspeil that me and my friend.... let's call him Kevin (because that is his name).... with very limited experience, swept just as well as high end female curlers...

I agree... Gary Lawless also reporting the Riders and Bombers in the mix for Eddie Steele... I imagine the Riders have more money to offer but hopefully he sees this as a better opportunity... -
I don't see the ratio ever going away... I think if the CFL ever adds another team, a change to the ratio might be in consideration... but that's about it...

Never seen him play? Not even on film??.... anyways, my guess would be they are hoping for one more year out of Ray and have him mentor Willy this season... at that point they'd hope Willy is ready to be the starter in 2018, which I also think is when his contract increases too... he also turns 32 years old and some point in 2018 so if he doesn't seem ready to be a starter at that point he's either out of football or becomes a decent back-up floating around the league... -

IMO it's unfair to say he's "failed" thus far... certainly not lived up to expectations... but this is a make or break year for him... need to see something from him going froward... And no, no one said that Etienne would go somewhere else and become a good player... -

I don't love the idea of not taking an OL with one of our 2 picks... but the idea of getting 2 guys who could contribute this season is nice... and it depends on who might be available at 15 as well... -
I would think Kyle Knox is in the mix as well...
-
thanks, this is the story I was recalling

I try not to be sexist about sports... but I've watched far too many women's curling matches where the winner was the team that missed the least (as you said above)... as opposed to men's where the winner is typically the team that makes the most... sorry if that offends some but to me that is the reality right now... of course, I do believe there will come a day when that changes for the record, yes I have seen MANY fantastic shots from female curlers... shots I could never even dream of making... but I still find the men's game to be superior in almost every way (save for the looks of the curlers)...
-
this is exactly what I was thinking... the first couple years he was in the news all the time... the famous Pauls would write about him not doing a good job every other day.... then last year, no one was talking about him... did he start doing his job better? No, of course not. He continued doing everything the same way... but finally, we were seeing results on the field...
-
I'm pretty sure Simonise is very likely to have NFL opportunities...

Last year there was 3 Manitoban skips at the Scotties... Chelsea Carey for Alta, Jones for Canada and Kerri Einerson for MB...
