  1. Murray has more games played... he's basically the starter... this is probably the biggest point here... Pens "lose" a guy they were going to send down anyways... and Jets lose Toby for at least a couple weeks...
  2. If Mitch McConnell is defending Obama... there's problems in the GOP! "word for word" is a bit of a stretch.... but in all honesty... I don't really have a problem with what Ben Carson said (I only heard the quote out of context so I can't really comment on his intentions but it sounded like he was defending immigration)... you are correct that the media overreacted on this one...
  3. LOL... I'm pretty sure Scott Pfifer is in his 30s...
  4. Yeah that's a good point... I'm not so sure Marc Kennedy is cut out to be a third... when he was second on Martin's team... he was second to none... man it seemed like Kennedy and Hebert could drag a hogged rock to the button... those guys changed the way sweeping is done...
  5. That's a good point too... if he really stinks the bed that kills his trade value... but at least they know Reilly is the man going forward...
  6. Does anyone else think Ed Steele would be a more badass name to go by... I think he's outgrown Eddie...
  7. It appears I overestimated the Old Dog (Glenn Howard)... I actually really had no idea what to think of that team but I assumed that since he won Ontario he must've had something left in the tank... I have to disagree with you guys on Koe... I think he's a great shot maker and has gotten a lot smarter over the years... definitely a top 5 squad in the world... really loving the way the McEwen rink is playing this week... should be a good one against Koe... but otherwise, as long as they don't take the pedal off they should handle the Frenchmen and Howard with ease...
  8. I'll take "completely missing the point" for $1000 please @Jimmy Pop was clearly saying that just because you don't hear about it, does not mean the problem doesn't exist... no where does he state that the CFL has a major problem with the PR player system... and now, I will be the one to digress?....
  9. Rarely does a 3rd string QB retiring make news... but Lynch played an important role on that team including short yardage and special teams... Honestly, the best thing that can happen to the Esks this year is Reilly getting hurt and missing a few games... if Franklin can get a true 3 or 4 game audition, the team will have a much better idea of what they have going forward...
  10. Ultimately, like in all sports, it'll all about wins and losses... fans are willing to overlook these transgressions in the off-season, when it's all about retooling and optimism for the upcoming season.... but if they start piling up ticks in the L column early on, many will start to change their tune...
  11. Opening thoughts on the Brier: - My rankings coming in: 1) Koe - Canada 2) Jacobs - Northern Ont 3) Gushue - Newf/Lab 4) McEwen - MB 5) Morris - BC 6) Howard - Ont 7-12) a bunch of teams that don't have a chance - McEwen means business this year... they're not just "happy to be there" - I'm continually amazed at how good of a shot maker Brad Gushue is... this year is not a good example b/c he has a pretty good team... but the rest of his team could be shooting 3% and he'd still be in one point games - a lot of up and down from Morris' BC rink... still not sure what to think of them... should be interesting to see which of the top 5 misses playoffs - I haven't had a chance to watch Jacobs yet... I'll have to keep an eye on the upcoming Schedule... they are usually a fun team to watch...
  12. Just a follow up on Bill Paxton... He died due to complications from the heart surgery that lead to a stroke... in case anyone was wondering... sad story http://www.eonline.com/ca/news/834098/bill-paxton-s-cause-of-death-revealed
  13. I was wondering the same thing too... Auclair is almost a lock to be in the NFL next year... but I guess Ankou is getting some interest too... I always find it interesting that every CFL mock draft is so different...
  14. But what is Jones' history at safety?... I suggested Waggoner b/c he played safety in college and has the similar size and physical edge to Loffler... and Morgan b/c the reason we drafted him was due to his versatility, including ability to play safety... I agree that Derek Jones has contributed more on defense and brings more experience... but if I recall correctly, his experience is mostly, if not exclusively, at field corner...
  15. It's interesting that the Bombers list Waggoner as a DB... but he shows up as a LB on the depth chart.... I've always wanted to see him at Safety... I wonder who they have as Loffler's back up this year... maybe Waggoner, or maybe Brendan Morgan...
  16. Jones has coordinated good defenses pretty much everywhere he has gone... so I expect the Riders D to be better in year 2... however, he was gifted a QB in Edmonton... and not having one has been one of the biggest failings of their offense the last couple years...
  17. Of course... that's pretty much exactly what everyone is saying
  18. This would be inaccurate... Chicago had one of the leagues top offenses in his time there... but the D was brutal and they weren't winning... in Baltimore they also had a good offense under Trestman, but he was let go b/c we wasn't running the systems the team wanted... translation: he was a good O-coordinator in the NFL... just not a good HC... ultimately he wasn't winning, and that's all that matters in this business...
  19. Not a lot of people have a son that played QB for SFU...
  20. That would be nice... starting 9 Canadians Bryant - Bond - Goossen - Chungh - Hardrick Denmark - Smith - Dressler - Stafford - Adams Nichols Harris - Normand Westerman - Nevis - Scott - Okpalaungo Leggett - Knox - Wild Randle - Heath - Loffler - Johnson - Frederick *Note*: yes I realize every player may not be in the right spot... this was merely a position by position reflection...
  21. Yeah Darryl Waud was in camp with Washington... but he left after about a week to go back to Toronto... If I recall correctly, I think it had to do with being in the no fun league... he wanted to come to a place where he would actually enjoy football knowing that his career would likely be limited...
  22. I'm kind of torn on it... on one hand, I don't really care where the players come from, I just want a winning team... we all cheer for Nichols, Dressler, Denmark, Wild and Leggett b/c they play for the Bombers, not because of where they were born... on the other hand, it is kind of cool to see an underrated kid from Winnipeg emerge as one of the top RBs in the CFL... and then to have him come home and play for the Bombers makes a nice little story... but it doesn't make or break the game for me...
  23. I get it, there's absolutely no middle ground between success and failure .... literally, no body has said he has been a success... IMO he has been a disappointment thus far and he has this year to prove he belongs... if he doesn't, then I think it's fair to call him a failure...
  24. Ok fair enough... I just think on the list of things to "change" or "improve" in the CFL... "changes to the ratio" is probably not even on the list...
  25. The only place where strength comes into play is sweeping... I dated a curler (she was active on the circuit) many moons ago and she once told me while playing in a fun bonspeil that me and my friend.... let's call him Kevin (because that is his name).... with very limited experience, swept just as well as high end female curlers...
