  1. How many times have we had this discussion about guys being "too small" to play MLB... I'm pretty sure it's been established on multiple occasions, being positionally sound and a quality tackler are far more important attributes than size... of course that's assuming the guy isn't 5'9 and 190 lbs... anyone who's 6ish feet and 220ish lbs has perfectly adequate size to play MLB in the CFL... again, the best example is 5'9, 215 lb JC Sherrit... On Waggoner... I actually always hoped the team would look at him at safety... that idea is moot now b/c of the emergence of Loffler... but I still feel like that would be a great position for him... he has the speed to cover and the experience playing that position in college... we still need a reliable back-up to Loffler...
  2. Very true.. only recently were guys like Lawless and Dunk getting contract/salary details... 5 years ago you be lucky to find out the term of a new contract...
  3. Joel Gasson from 3DN weights in... http://3downnation.com/2017/02/02/vince-young-move-odd-one-riders/ I like the Rider writers on 3DN... they are generally rational and unbias... I particularly enjoyed this nugget from the article... "Chris Jones has shown he’s willing to leave no stone unturned in order to find talent. This time, he could have left the stone exactly where it was. "
  4. Start planning the parade route in Regina...
  5. I would say the most intriguing name on that list is Chris Rosetti... but his age and relative lack of experience is certainly a red flag...
  6. Again... I think you should save this for April... if Pavs is starting game 1 of a playoff series... you win!
  7. I'm not so sure about SJ Green... but I could see the others getting cut... however I'm pretty sure Jovon has a fairly small salary... If I recall the story correctly, he actually went out and contacted the Als about signing there...
  8. Is Herdman a middle linebacker or outside?... that might be the sealer for me... if he can play MLB, might be worth the risk to find a ratio changer there...
  9. If this is true... I'm gidddy right now... I want to wait and see before I get too excited...
  10. Thanks for the correction... I just assumed he was older than that... definitely more intrigued now...
  11. I like Phil Hunt... but if our scouting can't find a rookie better than a 34 (33 maybe?) year old guy on his last legs... we have some problems...
  12. I agree it's too early for us to preview the draft... but I'd be surprised if Kyle didn't have a pretty good grasp of this year's class already...
  13. I was thinking they may be targeting one in the draft... there's 3 d-lineman ranked in the top ten: Eli Ankou (DT #3), Kwaku Boateng (DE #6) and Junior Luke (DT #9)... perhaps they see one of these guys as a potential roational player from day one....
  14. So no team can poach someone on a coaching staff after Jan 31?... under any circumstances?.... if Argos GM Jim Popp (I don't know just seems to make sense ) calls up Wade Miller and asks to speak with LaPo about the HC job, can Wade allow that... or is the call not even allowed?
  15. You would think the plan is to hopefully get another quality year or 2 from Jamaal... then pass the torch on to Trent Corney...
  16. Odd that they hire a "special advisor" without having a gm or hc... I wonder if he is basically overseeing their operation in the interim...
  17. If anyone is interested in new Als AGM Catherine Raiche... http://montrealgazette.com/sports/football/cfl/montreal-alouettes/alouettes-assistant-gm-catherine-raiche-breaks-down-another-barrier http://en.montrealalouettes.com/nomination-thoroughly-supported-throughout-media/ male, female, black, white or purple... this is a pretty impressive resume for a 27-year-old...
  18. not sure if there has been any discussion about Trudeau's town hall in Winnipeg yesterday... Here's a cbc article about it... posted (legitimately) without comment... http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/trudeau-winnipeg-town-hall-1.3953563
  19. huge ego + thin skin + power = typically not a good equation...
  20. This is for the Bombers O-line job?... interesting... I love Glenn January and feel he could possibly be a good coach one day, but I wonder if he is ready for that position yet... would have been nice if he spent a few years under the tutelage of Bob Wylie... Re: the Durant situation... I believe it was reported that in the 2016 off-season, both Dressler and Chick were offered take-it-or-leave-it, low-ball offers from Jones (I don't care to look up this info )... I have no reason to believe the Durant "negotiation" went any differently...
  21. Hard to imagine he signs in Edm to back up John White... when he could potentially start in Sask, Hamilton or Toronto...
  22. If they had called that a slash... I would've thought it was a bad call... but I can live with that... to call it a penalty shot was insane...
  23. I think the more interesting part of this story is Catherine Raiche... is she the first woman to work in a front office position like this? Also thought this was funny: The 62-year-old, graduated from Villanova in 1977 with a degree in political science, specializing in international relations. While at Villanova, he played nose tackle and linebacker, where he earned team captain and all-star honours. Only in 1977 could one have played nose tackle and LB... 2 positions where the players are typically separated by about 50-75 lbs now...
  24. I'm not one to blame the refs... and I don't "blame" them for this loss... but that penalty shot was one of the worst calls I've seen in a while... that would've been a borderline slashing call.... honestly looked like a pretty good defensive play to me... The no-goal... seems like we were probably just the victims of a premature whistle... not much you can do about that...
  25. Might as well get Hutch some time on the 4th line with Thorburn...
