  1. That's not entirely true... he didn't get the sack stats like he did last year... but he was equally as disruptive in the backfield and had many QB hits (probably too many penalties though)...
  2. I didn't quite jump out of my seat but I had hands in the air celebrating followed immediately by "No way you can call that!"
  3. fair enough... maybe I'm just too PC to get it
  4. I didn't watch the game but heard about the Morrissey hit... so I went to watch the replay this morning... and I was truly shocked at how clean of a hit it was.,.. I was expecting to see a guy get absolutely blown up with some head contact... he simply finished his check and I think could have put more into it than he did.... If you want to get rid of that hit, then just get rid of hitting all together...
  5. Very interesting write-up on Bennet: Might just be the best athlete on the team. He’s lined up at receiver in practice, shown a gun for an arm and would be a dynamo if he played special teams. Uncertain what the club’s plans are for him as all the QBs ahead of him on the depth chart are also prospective free agents. I wonder if they try to bring back Nichols, Glenn as #2, promote Bennet to #3 and start to look for a new developmental guy...
  6. He took a CIS HC gig, correct? I actually thought Knox was going to come in once Bass went down... a little disappointed to see Hurl in there but I guess he was more familiar with the defense (2nd half gameplan - tackle no one!) and has more game experience...
  7. Just curious who this is... Shologan? Ian Logan? Wolverine?
  8. This seems like a good idea... in theory... try and drums up some interest in the dog days of the off-season... like @Rich mentioned, good idea to start it in the gine... if it doesn't work there, it had no chance in Vancouver or Toronto...
  9. I like how we look at the list this year and think, wow I hope we can keep all/most of these guys... in the past I'd look at the FA list and think there's 3 or 4 guys I really want back and rest I don't really care about...
  10. So what you're saying is he's never missed a 61 yarder... That makes sense... if a kicker did not think he could make the kick that would mess with his psyche going into the kick too...
  11. I'm not trying to start an argument about this... but that just doesn't make sense... a PC agenda would be something stupid like calling that Loffler hit a "man's hit" then some PC idiot calling that sexist... or something like that... doesn't matter, I get exactly what you're saying just disagree with your choice of words... no harm, no foul...
  12. I'm actually a little surprised Medlock said he'd ONLY make 1/3... I kinda thought he might say he can make it any day, any time... I think he has that confidence just wouldn't say it publicly...
  13. I was just thinking the same thing... the 5th guy isn't going to get much action anyways... if you can put a serviceable Canadian in that spot that's a ratio win... ideally we can draft one better than what we have but I think I could live with JFG for a year while we develop our DP...
  14. hey, I don't care what Loffler likes to wear under his uniform as long as he keeps hitting like that... Also, political correctness and player safety are completely different things...
  15. Really, Loffler knew it??... Manny's arms were still extended in the air (hence leaving his sternum exposed) when the hit happened... so in that approximately half a second from the time the ball skinned his hands to the time the hit was laid, Loffler is expected to analyse the situation, realize the pass was dropped and either completely stop his momentum or change direction on a dime at full speed... keep in mind Loffler clearly leads with his shoulder and aims for the body, not the head... I understand why the call was made, I don't agree with it, but I understand...
  16. I'm not sure that a complete overhaul needs to be done on defense, schematically.... but I hate that we give receivers all day to work... somebody jam a goddamn receiver at the line, throw off their route... I'm sick of see opposing teams run their offense with no resistance...
  17. Except for the guys who played for the Riders... they were probably against the wind... since we all know the Riders breed the best players in CFL history...
  18. The reason I made that comment is because there were numerous discussions about our front 7 being undersized back in the Etcheverry days... the myth that our guys were undersized was debunked back then and now we have a bigger front 7... you could almost make the case we have over-sized DEs... so I'm legitimately wondering if he was making a joke about a previous argument... or just ignorant...
  19. Really, is that how it works??? Shouldn't both of those teams pick after us due to going deeper in the playoffs?
  20. This is a great point... guys follow their leader into battle... this is based on nothing but a hunch, but it didn't seem like guys would follow Willy they way they do with Nichols...
  21. I'd actually be very interested in the combine this year.... Can't remember the last time the Bombers had 2 top 5 picks (assuming we keep both)... I believe that's how it works: 1. Wpg (via Tor) 2. Sask 3. BC (via Mlt) 4. Hamilton 5. Winnipeg 6-9 TBD EDIT: I lied...I can remember... it was 2011 when we took Muamba (1) and then went off the board to take can't miss prospect Jade Ettiene (4)...
  22. I have to disagree with you completely on this one... our entire offense is based on 5-10 yard passes... you'd have to think they's have a good play queued up for situations like this... I handicapped it at about 50% to make the first down and about 10% for the FG (just my personal opinion not really based on anything other than what I saw in that game/history/gut feeling)...
  23. we can't ignore the "what if he caught it" factor... this is Manny Arceneaux we're talking about here... if the ball is remotely close to him, there's about a 90% chance he's catching it... So what if Manny had the ball in his hands and Loffler's hit jars it loose preventing a TD... does he still get a penalty?... Does that mean safeties are now in a lose-lose situation where they have to decide give up a TD or risk taking a penalty while knocking the ball loose, with a clean hit no less... it's such a grey area in this case... it's a great hit and would hate to see it taken out of the game... but how do you protect a wr extending for a catch??
  24. I wound't have worded it like this... but I agree and I was calling this a "team loss"... if the O gets a few more first downs in the second half maybe they score 3-7 more points, or at least kill more clock, that probably wins us the game... if the D gets one or two more stops they probably prevent one score, that probably wins us the game... if the ST set up the field position a little better it helps both O and D... and I disagreed with Mike's call at the end of the game... Any way you look at it, to blame one single person or group for this loss is silly... it truly was a team effort... but I think it shows we are just a few pieces away from being great...
