  1. looks like the steam is really picking up on twitter... Hervey had a comment along the lines of "we're not going to block someone from a good opportunity".... Milt Stegall is speculating O'Shea may be the only returning west coach next year... and Ryan Rishaug said he expects the situation to be settled by the end of the week...
  2. I thought it was Tedford he didn't like?... though he did complain publicly about the contract he was offered...
  3. Good for him... I'm not happy the CFL is losing the best Canadian RB to ever play in the league... but clearly his injuries are taking a toll so I'm happy to see he'll stop playing while he is still in good health...
  4. The difference is accountability... if a beat guy of an NFL team doesn't properly cover the team... he won't be the beat guy for long.... the freep, sun, etc don't seem to care that their sports writers don't do much...
  5. I just jumped over here to see if there was a thread on this... Tedford out, Buono back on the sidelines...
  6. Just reading through some of the blog and I found this nugget... perfectly exemplifies the Winnipeg media... "In fact, Tuesday’s practices at Investor Group Field were open to any and all media members, none of who seemed particularly interested in what either the Rouge Et Noir or Esks were actually practicing. Not even the piped-in crowd noise could distract the assembled typists and videographers from their duties, or more compellingly, how quickly they could cease performing them."
  7. For most of us it's like one of those mid-July days where it's raining... but still sunny for some reason....
  8. For the life of me I don't understand this approach, if they wait for the dust to settle they will be left with table scraps AGAIN. We're not in the market for the same thing (unfortunately)... I'm guessing that one or more of our OC candidates are also HC candidates with Sask so they are unwilling to commit till they've had a chance to, at least, talk to Sask... that being said... if our top OC candidates don't get the Sask HC job I will be very disappointed if our OC is not named ASAP...
  9. Argo's had him in this year. oh.. didn't know that, thanks... I guess that means he's at least still in shape and can still kick... Kickers don't have to be in shape... Punters are people too...
  10. Don't mind the Irish. For me it's the Dutch. There's only two things in this world that I hate... people who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch...
  11. Tell me, who matters?People in the Inuit/Eskimo/first nations community... at least not from what I read... I don't pretend to speak for that group.... Just pretend to know who matters vs who doesn't, then? you don't think the people of the Inuit/Eskimo/first nations community matter most on this topic? Ya... The issue was brought up by a member of that community. But according to you, no one that matters has an issue with it. Ok... let me re-state what I was saying to make it unambiguous... I read some articles a while ago (let's say 2013 for argument's sake)... in those articles the members of the affected communities had no issues with the name Eskimos... I believe they were mostly senior people as well... in 2013 the issues was quickly dropped b/c it didn't seem to matter to them... I, admittedly, didn't read this whole article... but it seemed like it was just one guy speaking for the group... perhaps it will have more steam this time around... I probably should have said was in the initial post... does that clarify it my point?

  13. Wish I could have been there. I went to last year's in BC but didn't really get a chance to participate much in the festivities. I was at 2011's Cup in Vancouver, that was a blast, and of course it helped that the Bombers were in it, so a lot of Bomber fans were running around the streets and packing the Elephant and Castle. What really makes these things isn't just the events, its the people AT the events. It's truly a day (now several days with all of the events) in the year where Canadians from all over the country (and some Yanks too!) can get together and participate in something truly and uniquely Canadian. Highly recommend people go if they have the chance (and the cash!), and truly sorry I couldn't make it out this year to the event in Winnipeg. Did anyone get a chance to hang out with the Blue Bastard? He's hilarious! Spent most of the day Sunday with him - fan march, then tailgaiting, of course the game, then a brief post game party at the Pemby*.... he's a long time friend of a good friend of mine... he was pretty tame by Sunday, two consecutive days of heavy drinking will do that! *The Pemby apparently has strippers now, it was weird, don't try to be something you're not Pemby, you're a dive sports bar, noyt some hight end drinking establishment with "Dancers" Whaaat??? Where the hell are you from? I don't associate strippers with high end dance clubs, not in Wpg. anyways. They's common folks on and off stage. You're right about that one... but I couldn't think of a better way to describe it... it felt like they were trying too hard to be respectable... I guess I haven't been there in a few years...
  14. I had a chuckle when I saw they brought back Billy Pavlopoulous (I'd be shocked if I got that spelling right)... What has he been up to over the past 3 years not in football...
  15. This is perfect... even if these guys can't get it done... the next guy will have a much better starting point...

  17. Surprise surprise the same people who are constantly nothing but positive see hope where there isn't any. We've already given O'Shea and Walters enough rope to hang themselves, and they did. Now we'll give them one more season to see if both of the first 2 seasons were flukes. The most likely outcome is we will have to make changes mid-season next year and that almost never works out. A new GM and HC would be stepping into a better situation now than Walters and O'Shea did. Mid season next year... not so much. I wouldn't say I'm constantly positive, I can point out things that are wrong, the trouble is when you see everything as being wrong anyone who tells you that not everything is wrong is seen as pumping sunshine and rainbows up everyones ass. You are so certain that you alone are correct in that everything is **** that you won't even entertain the notion that it's not as bad as you think it is. As long as Walters and O'Shea aren't doing damage to the team (which they aren't) I'll give them another year at least to see if we need to be upgrading. Agree to disagree. IMO Walters and O'Shea are damaging the team and we already know what needs to be upgraded. Out of the playoffs for 2 years, not even 2 wins in a row for over a year and a half and not being able to beat any of the top 5 teams this year under these guys is as bad as I think it is. I really don't understand what you see in them. That being said, the decision's been made and we have to live with it or become a fan of a different team. As I'm a lifetime Bomber fan there's only one choice for me. This I disagree with... there's still a long way to go and we need to start winning some game ASAP... to say they're damaging the team is short sighted... 2 years ago no one wanted any part in coming to Winnipeg... not coaches, not players, we had no base of NI talent and our import players were suspect... while we still need to improve at bringing in imports, we definitely have a decent stable of base Canadian now... free agents are willing to sign here, and not necessarily b/c we are the highest bidder... this off-season we'll find out if we can attract some top coaching talent... they're putting us back on the CFL map... hopefully that will actually pay off this year... I still need to see a lot more to be convinced this regime can do more than provide hope... but there is no chance they are actually hurting the team...

  19. I don't doubt for a second that Wade Miller and Kyle Walters are both extremely hard working and committed to making this a noteworthy franchise again... I am, however, concerned that their abilities may not match their passion...
  20. Interesting point... I don't think the Esks would actually consider axing Hervey... but they may consider giving him a different position if it means keeping Jones...

  22. That's how I saw it... the sound wasn't great at the game... mostly overshadowed by the fireworks.... I pvr'd and rewatched the game yesterday... it sounded great on TV that was the nice part... both of those PI calls were justifiable and seemingly obvious... the only disappointment was that is wasn't called correctly on the play and had to be reviewed... 2 things... Sherrit is 220... and no one think our MLB is too small, just too slow... probably depended where you were sitting... we had some Esks fans around us, but didn't see any RB fans in our section... mostly neutrals....
  23. I think this issue was brought up a few years ago... and nothing came of it.... as it turns out, no one (that matters) is actually offended by the name...
  24. unless you're suggesting they should be in favour of it to create an even playing field? I suspect the players with that attitude are in the minority...
