  1. My thought on the BoD... I feel like the major difference with a private ownership vs public is accountability... as far as everything else goes, it's pretty much a wash... back to the thread title... Hadn't heard of Paul Jones... but after reading his profile he certainly has an impressive resume and would probably make a good GM.... I agree with Ducky (and many other around here)... I wanted John Murphy as GM in 2013... and I still want him now...
  2. I agree completely... if we swapped complete rosters with Calgary... they would be a 10 win team and we would probably still be fighting for the playoffs...
  3. Not to mention Toronto had 2 blocked FGs... or do those count as turn overs?
  4. The problem with this list is we realistically don't know the answer to a lot of them.... sure we can guess... but it likely won't be accurate... Even though I don't know for sure, I have formed an opinion that is likely to be very accurate. I think he's been exposed as a terrible head coach but there's no need to embarrass the poor guy any further. He's had a very rough year. I am sure he has learned a lot these past two seasons. He's got one year left. Let's see if he can put it all together next year. What do you think? Can he? I agree... I'm no advocate for keeping O'Shea... for me the record 7-11 and now 6-12 (if we're lucky) is the only stat I care about... I'm not sure anyone can possibly be convinced this team is progressing... but there's big problems: who are the better alternatives?... is this a winning team with a new OC?... I just really don't know what to think about the team/organization as a whole right now...
  5. You are confused. Rider Green never comes off. The fans stick with this team no matter what. Rumours of our demise are wishful thinking and nothing more. Even if no one goes to the game, there is nearly 30k tickets sold. Don't worry we'll be back You guys need a 2 decade run like we've had just to put you in your place. They had one in the 80s and 90s and remember how the team and support continued to thrive through it... oh wait...
  6. Ottawa got the penalty on the play and Burris was unscathed... that's a lot more than we can say about the Adrian Tracy hit on Drew Willy... which was equally as bad, if not worse... leads the league in sacks... leads the league in fines... they sometimes go hand in hand...
  7. I think that break will be a very bad thing... but you don't intentionally lose, not under any circumstance... and I can't imagine a Chris Jones lead team would do it...
  8. Why? At least they won 2 Grey Cups since 2007. I feel the same way... as much as I hate the Riders... I would trade their last 10 years (including this year) with our last 10 years in a heartbeat...
  9. The one rule I would like see changed is the rouge... not completely get rid of it but they should eliminate it after the 3 minute warning in the fourth quarter... nothing worse than a team winning when their kicker misses a FG or punts it through the end zone... If you go into the 3 minute warning in a tie game... you should have to score real points to win...
  10. The problem with this list is we realistically don't know the answer to a lot of them.... sure we can guess... but it likely won't be accurate...
  11. I only want to comment on two... First one... you're ageing yourself with this comment about shaving... I can just imagine when you see Waggonner, Newman or Shell... "get a haircut you hippies!" Second one... don't you think there might be a correlation between us releasing a player and him signing on an NFL squad?
  12. I have nearly 50 years invested as well. You've made some very good points. We have both seen the Bombers win it all, an honour that not all fans have experienced. It occurs to me that I may never see another championship. Not that they won't win one, but that it may not happen again in my lifetime. That is a hard pill to swallow. It makes me cherish the ones I have witnessed all the more. It also makes me even more angry and frustrated with the ongoing futility of this organization. Got the same feeling you do. In 1990 when I was 35 I never could have guessed that at age 60 this team wouldn't have won since & are just a shadow of the team it used to be. And we have fans here saying we have to stay the course keeping the same people that are proving that they can't build a winner employed. Kind of gave me a chill reading that... we talk about 25 years since a championship and it doesn't feel as long as when you put a real life number on it... you've probably seen your kids grow up and maybe had some grand kids in that time (obviously just guessing since we've never met)... and still not another championship in sight... I'm 29 now... I was alive for the last 2 Bomber championships, but I obviously don't remember them... I've been going to games and been a die hard fan as long as I can remember... season ticket holder since 2004... The closest thing to a championship team in my lifetime was 2001 and 2007... keep thinking (hoping) it has to get better soon... but who knows anymore...
  13. But I'm so confused... the greatest fans in the history of sports would never give up on their team, right?! And this is just one bad season... imagine when they go through a drought of bomber proportions... the team will be on life support again...
  14. Year one of the Mike Reilly era was the "consequences" season.... then Kavis was fired and Jones was hired... and they put it together... people thought Kavis was terrible before Chirs Jones... sometimes a GM just needs the right coach...
  15. I believe they did the whole tour... I'm sure some research can confirm or refute that... I don't care enough to look it up
  16. I'm not up-to-date on who's alive in that band... I just know that they're awesome... I thought I recalled some incarnation of The Band doing shows recently... unless that was just a dream or I'm thinking of a completely different band I'm not sure if it was the bad but I recall David Grohl recently breaking his leg( may not have been broken but at least seriously hurt) while on stage and finishing his show. I believe that happened back in June or July... and he finished the tour on this... possibly healed up by now?
  17. sure, why not... neg lists aren't published so unless someone reputable has said something (Penton, Lawless, Madani)... then your source is probably speculative...
  18. I'm not up-to-date on who's alive in that band... I just know that they're awesome... I thought I recalled some incarnation of The Band doing shows recently... unless that was just a dream or I'm thinking of a completely different band
  19. For a second there I thought you meant The Band... which would be awesome... although I don't believe they are still together... Back in 2000 I believe the Guess Who's instruments were pre-recorded while Burt did sing live. Something about the cold affecting guitars? The cold weather would absolutely affect the tuning... legit reason in my books This would make it worth the price of the ticket... but I'm not holding my breath....
  20. I don't think he will be leaving his 7 figure NCAA pay cheque any time soon... but I would be curious to see what he can do in the CFL today...
  21. OMG, I sure as hell don't want to be the Patriots of the CFL. I'd gladly take their winning...
  22. It also cost us Danny McManus - the last QB WE recruited to the league that had success. That is the issue guys, we keep going after other teams 'hand me downs' because we can't recruit, and that is why we've been so bad for the most part for the past 2 1/2 decades. For this year, a lot of our issues was Drew Willy, as in not having him. We were 3 and 3 when Drew went down. And, we had nothing behind him. We got lucky with Nichols, at least he a passable CFL QB, unlike anyone we can recruit. I was really hoping Marve would be the guy (if his knee held up) but sadly, the fans here in the know (like Mr.Perfect) were 100% right on him. He's not good enough even if his knee was ok. And do you guys notice, when we rush 3 or 4, the opposing QB has enough time to scarf down a TV dinner before looking down field but yet when the opposition rushes 3 or 4 - usually our QB has to scramble around and rush a throw. So I would say both our Oline and our dline need a lot of work still. But having a healthy Drew Willy would solve a lot of problems I think - I like him. We just have to keep him healthy. I agree with what you said but I can't get over why you are so obsessed with this narrative that all good teams must find and develop their own QBs... you think Ham is mad they didn't find Collaros... how about Ottawa with Burris.... think Tor will be giving back the 2012 Grey Cup b/c they won With Ricky Ray.... I agree, it would be nice to recruit and develop a stud QB, but ultimately I don't care where they come from... as long as they can play... You're also just assuming back-up LB is his career potential.... if in a year or two he turns into an all-star MLB or safety (where he played in college)... then suddenly the pick isn't so terrible... You know how the old saying goes... stats always tell the whole story....
  23. I think that's the punch line you're looking for...
  24. The Bomber defense is not as great as some people make it out to be. With that said the O has one had one game this season in which it has scored 30 points. Yep, one game. This is really pathetic.... just for fun I looked up what every other team has done this year (cuz who actually wants to do real work on a Tuesday...) Number of games scoring 30+ points: BC (3); Edm (5); Cgy (4); Sask (5); Ham (9); Tor (5); Ott (5); Mtl (2) Seeing as Bryant Turner had a massive game as our DEFENSIVE TACKLE with 3 tackles and a sack and a defensive presence that has been missing lately, I guess we have to wonder if you're paying attention.. I'm assuming based on the comparison to January... he meant Stanley Bryant... not Bryant Turner, who actually had a great game...
  25. Three things... 1. Jacquie posted a link showing where her information came from... and that it was correct... 2. I wasn't taking a shot at you... just pointing out that Jacquie almost always has links to back up her arguments... as she did, once again, in this case... 3. as Sweep the Leg alluded to... pulling "do you know who I am"... is not generally met with positive enthusiasm... 4. and based on your typical posts... I would conclude you are probably not well connected... and if you are, your source doesn't appear to be feeding very reliable info... sorry for adding a fourth point when I promised only 3
