I think the only way I could see you being wrong here is if Walters does, in fact, head to Guelph... if we hire a new GM I would think he would have to bring in his own coaches... actually, I would hope he would... I don't want a GM that doesn't have complete control of football ops...

MRI results in, Collaros out for the season ...

if you consider that Trevor Harris has been Toronto's starter since day 1 you can include his name there too... -

Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion

Wonder how long that agreement is for .. BC is going to be DEEP at LB next season if Elimimian returns to form .. I'm curious to know what it took to get Curran to come out of this "hold-out" type thing he was doing... money or finally accepting the NFL would not come calling... -
Nothing to add... this post was just so perfect I thought it should be in this thread twice...

Feel bad for Collaros... not so much for Austin... -

Any team that loses their starter is done. As fans we hope the next guy can get it done or the Defense can pick it up etc.. Bottom line is you guys were in trouble as soon as Willy went down. Our season was over less than 30 minutes into the first game, plain and simple. I bet you guys keep telling yourselves that to justify the season! -
Remember Calgary tried to trade him too and no one bites, that's why they released him. Yeah I know how the CFL works.... which is why I clearly stated my preference was to keep him, not release/trade him...

You're probably right about that... but with most of his recent "news breaks" there usually has been fire shortly after the smoke...

I like Wild better than Simmons... but I really don't like releasing good talent... there's gotta be a way to get them all involved...

Bombers now with MOS like Jets with Noel ...
bearpants replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I doubt Trestman ever comes back to the CFL... the main reason he came here was to pad his resume with HC credentials to get an NFL HC gig... unfortunately that gig didn't go so well so his best chance at getting another shot is probably as an NFL OC... Trestman is the OC for the Baltimore Ravens. I would think he makes around 500K but I could be way off. It would be in the Bombers best interest to match that salary and give him GM duties. I think he is a great coach although he did have AC driving the truck during his time in Montreal unless they can somehow get Hufnagle to venture over here?? if those guys could not turn the team around then I would ask the CFL to treat the Blue like an expansion team and allow them to participate in a dispersal draft. this gong show is now taking on the same stench as the Kelly/Mack and Burke/Mack era's. Any thoughts on whether the Blue should look at bringing back Taman?? yes, I know that, thanks... that's why I'm saying he won't be back in the CFL... why would he leave a better paying gig with higher chance at getting an NFL HC shot? -
Here's a thought that I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet... with Leggett at LB, maybe Wild could play safety... would be a way to get Bass, Wild and Simmons on the field all at once... wait... Bass, Wild, Simmons, and Muamba on the field at the same time!

There's a plus for Murphy. I wanted John Murphy in 2013... and I still want him as our GM now... like iso mentioned, he is already doing most GM duties in Calgary including negotiating contracts, cap management, and, of course, scouting...

Mr Walters: What has Ottawa done that you have not?
bearpants replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Desjardins may be turning into a good example of fail first attempt and successful second attempt... however, I'll need to see a few years of sustained winning before calling this Ottawa regime a success... -
I heard the Lawless interview this morning & what he said really makes no sense. I don't even know what that even means? I've heard Murphy on the radio here in Calgary being interviewed plenty in the past on the Stamps flagship station 770 CHQR AM. The guy doesn't sound rough around the edges at all. He can be direct & to the point. He knows football plain & simple & knows how to build a winner. Interesting that when the media here in Calgary want to get the scoop du jour on player personnel matters they don't ask Huff. They ask Murphy. The Lawless comment about Murphy not being refined just smacks like the reason we passed on Lemar Durant & took Addision Richards instead because Durant is a quiet guy & didn't "interview well". Guys like Walters were so busy trying to find fault with his personality that they totally ignored his talent & he passed right by them to the Stamps who gleefully snapped him up. If the Bombers could get Murphy then passed because he wasn't "refined" then how stupid are they? Wait, don't answer that. I mean, if you want to take this a bit further & discuss Lawless then, how does he get a gig on the radio & is seen on tv as he has a demeanor & a voice better suited to work anywhere but the broadcast media. How refined does an overweight, wrinkled, middle aged man in a brushcut look? But hey, I ain't prejudging... I did like how Lawless laughed off the Chris Walby comments that Danny McManus should take over as GM as he's "just a scout". No management experience at all. Well its sort of silly to say LAwless is wrong based on hearing Murphy give interviews on the radio. Id assume Lawless has interacted with him more than most of us and has asked around about him. Lawless saying he's rough around the edges sounds like what his internal rep might be. On the other hand I bet if asked Lawless' suggestion for the "smooth" partner for Murphy would be Taman. And since Lawless seems to be pals with the guy, it wouldnt surprise me. But it would make me puke. I wouldn't be completely opposed to that combo... as long as Murphy is calling the shots...

anyone have a link to this interview? I looked on the TSN1290 website but can't find it...

They also have an OC who understands how to beat a blitz and that protecting said QB is the #1 importance. How many qb's have been hurt in MB system while he's been with the bombers? What about his entire career? Not saying it's all on him either. But it's just interesting to think about. But they have a rookie OC and we have one with 10+ years of CFL experience... surely our OC must also understand these concepts? -
Spencer Strasmore to visit Winnipeg.

We could probably use Charles Greane or Ricky Jerret more... do either of them qualify as non import? -
This is incorrect... Murphy handles a lot of the GM duties in Calgary including negotiating contracts and cap management.... add that to being a good scout and you got a pretty good GM...
-
Tempted not to watch the second half... I've seen MB's brilliance when playing from behind far too many times...
-
I'm fairly sure he could resign and forfeit his contact... but there's no way the bombers would "force" him to stay...

Please define "pwnt" because I clearly don't know what the hell it means. Pwnt.. Is the bastardized version of owned. Owned was coined in online gaming.. I believe in halo or counterstrike is where it originiated.. Essentially means, i kicked your ass so bad.. IE I own you. Owned. Pwnt. Hope that clears it up.. Is this actually a real thing or just a tongue-in-cheeked response to a typo??

I think the reason Canadian kids dream about playing in the CFL, rather than the NFL, is because it's a more realistic goal...
