  1. My commonly used method... if you read something that really irks you... don't respond right away... come back to it in an hour...
  2. First thing I thought of too. Maybe there is something to this Winnipeg Cheap thing after all... Has nothing to do with Winnipeg... has to do with a dying media... Good for Gary... now I can read the occasional article of his that I want to read...
  3. Winston Venable issues headshots to the following players in that game... that I can remember... The one to JFG... once to Bastien in the 2nd quarter... one to Matt Nichols (the penalty that negated the red zone pick) also in the second quarter... and one that he tried and missed on Marshall (actually can't remember who it was but I think it was Marshall) in the 4th quarter...
  4. By far the best CJFL teams are on the Prairies. It's not even close, PFC teams have won 15 of the last 30 national championships, and the last 7 straight. They've won 5 straight, and other than the Hilltops on a yearly basis none of the PFC teams would be competitive in the BCFC. It's a different world, very little competition from CIS, much more to offer their players and they have credibility with recruits. They are competing with the CIS for recruits. The Rifles sure as hell aren't. The Colts are spending some money and trying to follow the model of the BCFC teams, we'll see how that works out. The issue is sheer quantity (like you mentioned above)... the Lions have 6 territorial exemption teams in BC (assuming the Lions have rights to all of them)... Calgary has the Colts and Winnipeg has the Rifles.... even if the Rifles and Colts were by far the best teams... there's still a much greater chance to pluck some decent players when you have 6 teams to choose from...
  5. you are a true Canadian hero, my friend!
  6. I would always choose the Bombers over the jets... the only time their games ever cross over is October when I'm really not that invested in the NHL yet and Bomber games are (theoretically should be) meaningful...
  7. Haha wow, talk about arguing semantics! Okay then you explain... if you can't tell the difference. Let's say we lose to Calgary 28-27 this week... Person 1: well we were at least competitive in that game Person 2: we held up with the class of the league, this team is incredibly competitive... It's all perspective... that's all I'm saying i don't look upon it like that. Incredibly Competitive WERE the Ti Cats before Collaros got hurt coasting to the playoffs at full speed dismantling teams at home. Or the Stamps cruising along, maybe in close games but finding ways to win at the end. Competitive teams are those that win 1 lose 2 or win 2, lose 3 but are 8-10 or 9-9 at seasons end. We were 3-3 when Willy got hurt so we were competive. On any given day we could beat the best or lose to the worst. Willy gave us a chance to win every game but if people think we were good enough to hang with Hamilton or Calgary with Drew Willy before he was injured then they were wrong. I don't disagree with you but others may see it differently... someone might call the Stamps and Cats the class of the league and don't use "competitive" as the adjective... while saying that Toronto and Ottawa have been "incredibly competitive"... which the Bombers, arguable, could be with Willy... again, it's all about perspective... I'll I'm saying it you were essentially arguing someone's use of adjectives when you are basically intending the same thing...
  8. It can definitely be hard to sell tickets in losing years... I've never sold one of my tickets... in the 12 years I've had season tickets I've missed 4 or 5 games... and a few times I had trouble giving them away...

  11. There's many things wrong in this post so I thought I would break it down by numbers for readers' convenience... 1) seriously, when did he say that? (maybe he did and I can't recall) 2) hard to revamp an o-line in one season... in the first 6 or so months he brought in 4 Imp tackles, drafted Goossen, and signed a couple UDFA NI players... not sure what else you expect in that short period of time... 3) you're partially correct about this... but signing the best NI DE in the league is a pretty good move... 4) So you're not happy with the play of Bass at WIL and Randle/Leggett at SAM/DIME?... not sure if you heard of Ian Wild... and how has Sears been in Hamilton this year?... letting Sears walk and replacing him in house has been one Walters' best moves... 5) Do you know how many Canadians currently on the roster were there when Walters took over? 3 - Thomas, Kohlert, Pontbriand... we're certainly not loaded with Canadian superstars but to say he's "barely addressed it" is flat out wrong... 6) he has brought in many receivers... some aren't very good... some might be a result of our crappy system... but to say "he didn't bother to bring in any receivers" is just plain wrong... 7) you finally got one close... MB has been a serious blunder (although assistant coaches are hired by the HC, not the GM...) Kyle Walters has been no where near perfect (I'm kinda hoping the Guelph thing "works out" for him)... but if you're going to make an argument against him... at least try to make it intelligent...
  12. I think the only way I could see you being wrong here is if Walters does, in fact, head to Guelph... if we hire a new GM I would think he would have to bring in his own coaches... actually, I would hope he would... I don't want a GM that doesn't have complete control of football ops...
  13. if you consider that Trevor Harris has been Toronto's starter since day 1 you can include his name there too...
  14. Charlie Brown said that? Link please. http://people.cs.uchicago.edu/~dinoj/peanuts.html
  15. Wonder how long that agreement is for .. BC is going to be DEEP at LB next season if Elimimian returns to form .. I'm curious to know what it took to get Curran to come out of this "hold-out" type thing he was doing... money or finally accepting the NFL would not come calling...
  16. Nothing to add... this post was just so perfect I thought it should be in this thread twice...
  17. Feel bad for Collaros... not so much for Austin...
  18. Any team that loses their starter is done. As fans we hope the next guy can get it done or the Defense can pick it up etc.. Bottom line is you guys were in trouble as soon as Willy went down. Our season was over less than 30 minutes into the first game, plain and simple. I bet you guys keep telling yourselves that to justify the season!
  19. Remember Calgary tried to trade him too and no one bites, that's why they released him. Yeah I know how the CFL works.... which is why I clearly stated my preference was to keep him, not release/trade him...
  20. You're probably right about that... but with most of his recent "news breaks" there usually has been fire shortly after the smoke...
  21. I like Wild better than Simmons... but I really don't like releasing good talent... there's gotta be a way to get them all involved...
  22. I doubt Trestman ever comes back to the CFL... the main reason he came here was to pad his resume with HC credentials to get an NFL HC gig... unfortunately that gig didn't go so well so his best chance at getting another shot is probably as an NFL OC... Trestman is the OC for the Baltimore Ravens. I would think he makes around 500K but I could be way off. It would be in the Bombers best interest to match that salary and give him GM duties. I think he is a great coach although he did have AC driving the truck during his time in Montreal unless they can somehow get Hufnagle to venture over here?? if those guys could not turn the team around then I would ask the CFL to treat the Blue like an expansion team and allow them to participate in a dispersal draft. this gong show is now taking on the same stench as the Kelly/Mack and Burke/Mack era's. Any thoughts on whether the Blue should look at bringing back Taman?? yes, I know that, thanks... that's why I'm saying he won't be back in the CFL... why would he leave a better paying gig with higher chance at getting an NFL HC shot?
  23. Here's a thought that I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet... with Leggett at LB, maybe Wild could play safety... would be a way to get Bass, Wild and Simmons on the field all at once... wait... Bass, Wild, Simmons, and Muamba on the field at the same time!
  24. There's a plus for Murphy. I wanted John Murphy in 2013... and I still want him as our GM now... like iso mentioned, he is already doing most GM duties in Calgary including negotiating contracts, cap management, and, of course, scouting...
