Hall most likely to be new DC (Now Official)
bearpants replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Aaaand we can all exhale... -
I saw a joke similar to this on twitter yesterday... It was something to the effect of "makes sense, he's already won Mtl a Grey Cup as a ST Coordinator"... pretty funny... only cuz it's at the expense of the Riders...

One or two unannounced signings (update 1/21)
bearpants replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
in that little interview someone posted he says he's loyal... that's a nice trait to have if he ends up being a keeper... -
I'm not sure ten minutes is enough...

Hall most likely to be new DC (Now Official)
bearpants replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If I asked my friend (who is a fellow 12-year season ticket holder with me) who our DC is... he would likely say "no idea".... If I asked him who the DC was last year, again, he would probably have no idea... I agree the percentage of Bomber fans that actually really care about this announcement is somewhere along the lines of about 1-2%... -
[Blue Bomber Talk] Early thoughts on 2015 CFL Draft
bearpants replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I agree with this idea.. if we can get two "sure things" (yes, I know that doesn't really exist) in the first or second round and we give up a couple projects in the third or fourth... I think it's worth it... -

I agree... and I expect Hall to be the DC... it's just hard not to get a little antsy... -

I'm not normally in the impatient group... but with Benevides stepping out of the ring... and Quick signing on in Regina... I can't help but think, what's taking so long? -
Nothing ground-breaking here... but I agree with the thread title.... interesting tidbits indeed...

Yes, but how about a DC with a chip on his shoulder... especially with the added motivation to beat the Riders and Lions... -
Is that a real Disney movie?

I feel like getting Zach Anderson back in a Ritchie Hall defense (assuming he signs) will be like adding a dominant D-lineman in FA... He has potential to be one of the best DTs in the league...

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard
bearpants replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Walters basically committed to Picard as our starting centre this season at today's presser.Banks was our SAM too.All of this is how I feel. I tweeted this morning that the whole thing reminds me of Banks last year, and I got shouted down by a few people. I'll believe the Picard hype when I see it in the summer.Situations aren't similar at all. Banks was released because his GM thought he was washed up. His GM was right. Picard was released for cap reasons, the season after winning his teams top OL award. And Riders tried to bring him back on a restructured contract. If the award was an accurate one... which I'm obviously not convinced of, then you would obviously find someone else to release to relieve your cap stress. Not your supposed "best" offensive lineman, who also happens to be your Center. Not necessarily true at all... even IF Picard was their "best" O-lineman last year... ahead of Labatte and Heenan... the latter two are still more valuable based on age and potential... Picard, meanwhile, is on the downside of his career... -

C'mon now, it's not like you're new here -
I don't think anyone is suggesting he's completely irreplaceable... just that he's a very good player and we would prefer to see him in blue and gold... best of luck to him in the NFL...

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard

interesting story about Picard...I don't know if this was sour grapes or simply the truth but I met Matt Sheridan at a trade show shortly after the 2007 Grey Cup and we spoke about the Glenn injury in the TO game... Sheridan made no bones about who's fault that play was... didn't hesitate to say Picard screwed up... I think he even called him "Frenchie"... IMO it sounds like there may have been a personal issue between those two... anyways, still think this can be a good signing... -

Nothing that Kyle Walters has done in his first 1.5 years at the post leads me to believe he will be satisfied with the status quo... -
Bombers make $4.5 million payment on stadium debt
bearpants replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It helps too that the Bombers aren't paying out the contracts on several past coaches and GM's anymore - everyone now should be done right? Lapo, Mack, Crowton, Burke etc. That was all done before the 2014 season -
Cutler is a coach killer. Even when he plays well he just gives off negative vibes all the time. All the tools to be a great one. But that's his problem, he has all the tools but he's also one himself. Always either pissed off or indifferent. Not a leader by any stretch of the word. How can you win with a player like that? He'll get the next HC in Chicago fired as well. Yup. His history does not lie. If Trestman's mentoring, coaching, tutoring had no effect on Cutler, I say good luck Chicago. Cutler is hands down one of the worst team 'leaders' of all time. I remember a MNF game three years ago. A rookie OT missed his block & Cutler was sacked. He pulled a Drew Tate & screamed at him on the field on national television. Even some of his teammates called him out on that one saying how wrong he was. That's not leadership. That's being an ass. It's only called leadership when someone with Back to back 400+ yard passing games; most 6 TD games: 3; most passing TD's in a season: 50; most consecutive 2+ TD pass games: 13; most consecutive 3+ TD pass games: 10; back to back 5+ TD pass games; most TD passes in a quarter: 5; most TD passes in a perfect game: 6; most consecutive single-season passes with 0 INT's: 358; most consecutive 2+ TD 0 INT games: 9; most career 4+ TD 0 INT games: 12; 2 career 6+ TD 0 INT games; most career 50+ attempt 0 INT games: 3; best single season TD/INT ratio: 36/4; most career postseason wins: 16; most consecutive postseason wins: 10; most consecutive home wins: 35; perfect regular season record (16-0); most consecutive postseason home wins: 8; highest postseason game completion percentage: 92.9%; quarterback of the 2000's New England Patriots Dynasty; highest career TD/INT ratio: 2.608/1; lowest career INT rate: 2.2%; 7 time Pro Bowl selection; 2 time All Pro; 3 time Super Bowl Champion; 2 time Super Bowl MVP; 2009 Comeback Player of the Year; Patriots all time passing leader, 2 time Offensive Player of the Year; only unanimous NFL MVP; NFL 2000's All Decade Team; 2 time NFL MVP- does it (which is pretty much every game)... at least that's what the media will have you believe... as opposed to Jay Cutler... An ******* is still an *******...
