Basically Quinn Everett is a project and we'll be lucky if he is good enough to start in a couple years... any higher expectation is unrealistic at this point...
-
That is surprising... count me in as one who thought he would be an Oregon state lifer... but Nebraska is a pretty sweet gig... he inherits a good team and good program that can win the Big 10 every year... good for him....

Hate to see good Canadians leave the CFL.... but best of luck to Jones in his NFL endeavour...

What is the deal with the Grey Cup ticket pricing

I hope everyone read the title of this thread in the Jerry Seinfeld voice.... And yes, I'll definitely be going to the game... -
Now that we have the Grey Cup out of the way ...

This site is absolutely my #1 source for Bomber news and info... thanks Mods for all the behind-the-scenes work... I think some kind of Grey Cup week gathering would be a great idea...

I feel like this is gonna be a fun discussion... -
Thanks for explaining that reference for those of us who don't have kids

I'm just glad that block to the back was a legit penalty... That woulda been way too cfl for the game to be decided on a missed call or bad call...

Bombers benched Grigsby for partying late

Charlie Roberts could down a six pack.... crush a pack of darts... then show up at kickoff and run for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns.... that's the difference between the two guys -
Michael Sam Possibly Playing for Als Next Season
bearpants replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Agreed. I wouldn't mind the Bombers taking a chance on him, it seems like he should be able to do some damage up here - obviously won't happen due to neg rights - but I'd also probably get annoyed after the first month of the world looking at our team as a social experiment. I completely agree but some in the CFL might think of it as good exposure for the league... -
Michael Sam Possibly Playing for Als Next Season

I don't think he has the speed to play SAM.... but imagine a LB at a 6'2, 260lb crushing RBs if they dared get to the second level!... And yes... I get that you were just making a joke -

Michael Sam Possibly Playing for Als Next Season
bearpants replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He's a marginal football player at best. That's quite incorrect... he's a very good defensive end... problem is he has tweener size for the NFL... too small to be a DE but doesn't have the skill set to be an OLB... he is the perfect size to be a CFL DE.... he's need to put on 30 lbs to be an NFL DE -
To be fair, I've heard Kroeker pronounced both ways. And Goossen. He had a really solid playoff run from what I saw, but having his name show up on Montreal's neg list might not even amount to a training camp invitation. Names go on and off those things all the time, from what I understand. I'm no scout but that Nigerian dude on the Bison interior Dline, if we could develop what he showed on some plays, well he had some impressive snaps out there. David Onyemata...With his size and athleticism... if he develops into a real football player he may be playing a little further south than Winnipeg... That's my take too but who knows. If Bilukidi will turn out to be a Bombers next year. It doesn't hurt to wait for a couple of years for them to learn a lot on NFL camps before coming here in the CFL. You can tell the reason he looks good in CIS is cuz he's so huge and athletic... he has a long way to go before he even has CFL potential, let alone NFL potential... but with the right coaching, he has the physical skills to play at the highest level...

I agree that a blog post could just as easily be a new thread post... no idea what the "pages" section is all about...

Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
bearpants replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If they can't be fired right now to keep all the attention focused on the events surrounding the festivities and the game itself, it would be bad form to interview people for a job that isn't even open yet. To me that sort of looks bush league. If they were going to fire the coordinators they should have done it the way BC did. Fire before the moratorium. That being said... if the decision's been made to fire one or more coordinators and those folks have been told, then there's nothing bush league about doing interviews during GC week. Brice... Steinhauer is a good DC who's on a team that's made it to the GC two years running. Other than a big raise, there's nothing in it for him to leave Hamilton for the same job on the Bombers. Terry ... You don't know what its like working with Austin. OS and Steinhauer are friends. If the Cats get AnallyPounded next Sunday, I'm sure he'd at least entertain a job offer, especially if more money was attached Hate to be "that guy" but... do you actually know what it's like to work for Kent Austin??... or are you just speculating based on his sideline antics... for all we know, the guy could be a fantastic boss... -
I've never found Al Bradbury to call in our favour.... I can recall on several occasions joking "C'mon Bradbury, how about a little home cooking?!?"

I thought Grigsby was hurt at the end of that game and Volny was in. Or am I remembering a different game? You may be right... doesn't change my thoughts on what we shoulda done... but certainly ruins the irony of the whole situation...
-
Maybe it was just him playing against CIS competition... but I thought Byron Archambault has the speed... to go along with the obvious size (6'0 240) and play-making ability... to play MLB in the CFL.. anyone who knows more than me (most people) have any thoughts on this kid? Has he been drafted yet or is he eligible this year? O believe they mentioned in the broadcast a few times that CFL scouts are "drooling" over him...
-
Interesting thought crossed my mind as I watched Grigsby punch in a 3-yard TD on sunday afternoon... If MB decided to give Grgsby the ball on the 3 yard line against this very Ham team and he punches it in.... Ham loses that game... Ham falls to 8-10 on the season... Ham probably misses the playoffs... Grigsby may or may not have still been released... I need to find the alternate universe where I can see how this woulda played out...
-
On an interim basis, possibly, but not as a full time role...Not a chance. I remember hearing an interview or ready an article where he said he would only consider it on an interim basis...

Right, which is why I said above, was it Buck or was it Grigsby that was the problem? Even I lean more towards Grigsby being the issue, but still. I think people are just thinking Buck is this magical creature that's going to fix all the problems of this team and want to promote him way too fast. He still has a lot to learn and a long way to go before even becoming an OC. And as much as I hated him as a player, if he can become a good coach, then by all means, keep him on. I just hate this fixation on him that he's some kind of savior and super totally awesome coach to be, when no one here really knows what he can or can't do. I think you're extrapolating other's posts to strengthen your point... no one here has suggested he's a magical figure and will save the franchise... no one here has said he should be our OC or our HC today... I think there was only one or two suggestions that he should be the QBC today.... The basic jist of the Buck love is.... he's a great guy for the team and for the community and we hope he turns out to be a great coach someday... At least that's how I feel...

I gotta say, as far as signing a Canadian fullback off the streets, already in his mid-twenties... Pontbriand was a pretty nice find by Mack...
