  1. Pretty sure Etch interviewed with Hamilton last year. But in the article the person says "...I didn't return his call... I should have interviewed him"
  2. I'm curious to know which execs/coachs said what... eg which HC/GM was in a position to be hiring a new DC last year and passed on Etch?
  3. I expect there will be a lot of rotation on defense.... while we have Sherman, Bucknor and Thomas listed as starters expect to see Anderson play a lot, as well as Unamba and maybe even Staudermire getting some D reps.... there will be a lot of snap with 2 Canadians on D
  4. When you live in BC, especially in the Interior, you get a different perspective. The lower mainland SUCKS!! BC as a whole really has a lot going for it, if we could just start exporting all of the hippies and life-long welfare cases, we'd really be somewhere. I was more referring to the infamous "BC Sucks" chant, heard at Bomber games.... I have no particular personal objection to the great province British Columbia
  5. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/07/30/west-dominance-stirs-up-realignment-talk Pretty good all-encompassing article from Penton here... the one section that I thought was particularly interesting was the anonymous thoughts from CFL coaches and executives.... I'll post here for your convenience... CFL coaches and execs give their anonymous thoughts on what they’re talking about behind closed doors: If Montreal loses the next game or two, I don’t think they’ll fire Higgins. They shouldn’t, anyway. But Popp will do something. He has to. Something big. Maybe a trade … I’ve been saying since 2007 the CFL should be one division. Winnipeg and Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup? Who was the East team? That was a joke then … The CFL should keep its divisions because of tradition. It goes in cycles. The Grey Cup loses a lot of its country-wide interest if it’s up for grabs in just half the provinces … Chris Jones’ fake punt attempt was idiocy. Fake for what? To take a knee if they got the first down? … The Argos are still the best team in the East Division. They have the best quarterback, all-around team and veteran coaches. So any time you have the best QB in the division you are the top team when the rest of the teams’ QBs are struggling … I’m tempted to say the most underrated offensive player in the league this year is Steve Morley at centre in Winnipeg, but if not him then it’s Jeff Fuller in Calgary or Taj Smith in Saskatchewan … The league should have changed the ratio when we added Ottawa. Should have lowered the number of Canadians. It’s still July, and we can’t find Canadians worth a (hoot) on the street. If we lose another Canadian starter or two, where are we going to find replacements? No one will trade Canadians. We’ve tried, but we always get ‘Can’t trade our Canadians.’ Everyone has the same problem. Four months of football left to play and barely enough good Canadians in July … When we watch Winnipeg’s defence I ask myself ‘How was Gary Etcheverry out of work in our league?’ I didn’t return his call a year ago. Watching them play, I should have interviewed him … Nothing’s wrong with Ricky Ray. Right now we’re seeing the Ricky Ray we played against when he was in Edmonton. He was good for them, but not the best in the league. When he doesn’t have great protection, he’s not a superstar. Struggles against pressure … I don’t know Doug Malone over in Saskatchewan, but his offensive line is the best in the league. He’s got the young Canadian (Ben) Heenan playing good at tackle and their young centre, number 67 (Dan Clark), impressed me … The Bombers are for real. They’re solid … Toronto will win the East. They have the best quarterback over there. Ray will stay the same. No emotional roller-coaster. Unlike Burris, he won’t start pointing fingers … The most underrated offensive linemen, the ones who don’t hear nearly enough about, are Montreal’s Luc Brodeur-Jordain and Calgary’s Dan Federkeil … It’s too early to pull the chute on Troy Smith in Montreal. Give the kid a chance. I also bolded the parts that I found especially interesting (mostly Bomber related).... thoughts?
  6. You're kinda running in circles here... first you say he's here for a one day camp... then suggest there isn't room for him on the roster... then vehemently deny that you suggested we were signing him.... which you did Anyways, nice to have him back in town... I'm sure he'll have some good tidbits for the youngsters of this town
  7. No clue .. I'd even ask .. when did the injury happen? Thought he came out of the game relatively unscathed. Maybe Jay-Z stepped on it.Yep I saw him at the concert and he was having a great time. Didn't look injured to me. So second or third angry post about moore (and other bombers) going to this concert... Im curious, do you believe these guys should be caged up and only let out for games and practices or..? Where do you see the anger in that post? I was wondering the same thing myself... seemed like a pretty innocent comment.... but to reply gbill.... if it's a foot injury like reported it's VERY possible he can walk fine, even jog fine... but sprinting, cutting, etc are a whole different ball game....
  8. Wow.... Montreal could be in trouble this year.... I have nothing against Brink personally, but I'd rather have Marve starting than him...
  9. Our tickets for the Lions game were $30 a pop. We were sitting in the Family zone on the second tier. It was actually pretty full. There are no bad seats in that barn. Too bad they can't get more people out. It just pisses me off. Vancouver sucks. I think what you meant is.... BC SUCKS
  10. It began as a very old gaming Mime about 18 years ago or so; was usually very popular in capture the flag games or king of the hill games; although many will believe it started on Facebook and a lot of younger people will believe it started in Halo. The mime has been around for much longer than both of those though. At least from my experience it might even be older I second this.. As an old school gamer, i think i recall this from right before the big gaming console boom.. I wanna say around quake 1 maybe.. Thanks guys.... based on the intro in the video I figured it had something to do with an old video game.... but I've never been a gamer, didn't even play Mario Bros as a kid on the original Nintendo we had...
  11. Also, I gotta ask wtf is "all your base are belong to us".... that video was quite confusing
  12. "swaggerville" started as a quiet internal thing.... the guys would talk about it here and there but it seemed like more of a locker room thing than anything.... that I was ok with... anything to bring the guys together.... then it got out of hand.... with help from the media.... and everyone knows the rest of that story...
  13. Nice work... I think I'm most impressed that you were actually able to find highlights from the Edmonton game!
  14. My biggest concern going in is LaFevour exploits us the same way Reilly did... hopefully our LBs have their tracking devices working Thurs night... and tackling the way we did against BC
  15. I personally think Milo and Austin are safe for the year.... short of an absolute complete disaster... like 1-10, 2013 Bombers style... Maybe Benevides is the Lions continue to struggle... but like someone else said, I can't imagine a mid-season coaching change any time soon
  16. If I was the GM I'd probably be on the chopping block right now... I was a Collaros guy... but that being said, I always admitted along the way I hadn't really seen much of Willy (prior to this year, obviously) so I didn't really know what he would bring...
  17. That's exactly it... I've never understood why some people were so up in arms over hiring Buck as a RB coach.... "But he never played RB!!!" they said
  18. I admit I've been advocating for changing the ratio over the past couple years.... and I still think it's necessary if there's a tenth team.... but this does bring up a good point that maybe there are a lot of Canadians that can play skill positions... they just haven't got the opportunity yet.... this team should be fun to watch going forward...
  19. I like that the discussion this year has has more 'what can we do to get better?' and less 'let's blow this thing up and rebuild'....
  20. I think Buck can have a lot of influence on the RBs.... his job is not to say "hold the ball this way" or "run that way"... his job for in game adjustments would be to ask the RB what he saw on a particularly bad play and figure out a way to fix it... recognize defensive formations, pick up blitz, pre-snap reads, etc... Buck would know a lot about these things...
  21. The thing is that if we had acquired Glenn he wouldn't have even seen the field yet anyways.... I think Walters was never willing to give up much for him...
  22. one 50 yard kick doesn't qualify as consistently.... a little premature for this conversation...
  23. Our overall run game is definitely a concern right now... the return of Chris Greaves will help.... but there were a couple time I distinctly remember Grigsby making the wrong read... maybe it's time to see what Cotton brings
  24. I laughed way too hard at this.... only cuz I was thinking the same thing
  25. The backlash has nothing to do with the idea.... trading January for a starting Canadian O-lineman (or any position) would be fantastic.... problem is it's never, ever going to happen.... the most any team would give up for an American tackle in his 30s is a late round pick... I'd guess most teams would rather wait to see what shakes out of the NFL if they are looking to upgrade at import tackle... And the circumstances around the Neufeld pick were completely different.... he was a back up (injured) with Sask and they would likely lose him to Ottawa since he wouldn't have been protected....whether Taman makes that trade or not Neufeld, is not on their 2014 roster... a tiny bit of research or just a basic memory coulda figured this out...
