Five years ago today - how far we have come

Who woulda thought the day we fired Mike Kelly.... we were nowhere near rock bottom! -
Toronto has league worst pass defence, surprised?
bearpants replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm a little surprised.... Burke was no head coach but he certainly knows how to run a defense.... lots of player turn-over, new systems, new assistant coaches..... I think they'll get it together eventually -
Yeah well that being said, there really isn't much out there to suggest. By the end of the year, Cohon may be okaying tackling dummies as National OL just so teams can make the ratio. Ottawa really has drained a lot of the extra NI talent out there this year. As I believe JBR stated in another thread, three imports on the OL may become the new normal this year, meaning a lot more National DB's and even National running backs becoming the new NI position of choice (as is already happening on several teams)to fill in for lack of NI OL available. I wish we could clone Anthony Coombs, he looks like a stud. in other words, the ratio needs to be changed so we can avoid watering down the quality of play in the CFL...

Unvarnished and Unwashed Weekly CFL Predictions - Week 4
bearpants replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I wouldn't count out Hammy just yet this week.... remember last week's "no brainer" was Saskie over BC.... predicted by almost everyone, myself included -
Please don't ever say that.... I meant it only in the context of Goltz as a short yardage QB. I don't remember him not getting the short yards required. However when Boltus played very seldom did we ever make it in the same situation. Marve does not seem to have that sixth sense to exploit the weakest area of a short yardage defence. I just meant the bolded part.... sure he's good at short yardage but I don't care if Goltz was the best short yardage QB in the history of football.... he was a useless QB and would be a complete waste of a roster spot to have a "short yardage specialist" dressed... at least we know Marve has some potential to actually play the QB position...

Please don't ever say that....

As MBB posted on twitter, why make such an announcement for such an underwhelming trade??.. I was really hoping for a NI O-lineman...
-
The real problem is there isn't a whole lot we can do to make an impact today.... if this Billy Peach kid is as good as some people seem to think he is, a trade would certainly be a possibility.... but the fact that it hasn't happened yet leads me to believe either Huff is not interested in trading him, Peach is not interested in leaving Cgy, or maybe he's just not quality starter yet...

if this was last year's team... even if by some fluke game 1 still happened the way it did... we definitely woulda lost game 2 and 3... I, too, like where this is going

no surprise here... I expect him to resurface somewhere soon

Comparative analysis - How bad is the Bombers OL?
bearpants replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I said it a couple times inthe second half against Ottawa... and again during the Mtl game.... We're really missing Chris Greaves right now... I guess getting hurt is really showing his value... But watching some of the BC/Sask game Kevin Glenn was under seige all day... on some plays he had maybe a second to get the ball off... We're definnitely ahead of them right now -

If a player's salary goes up due to his play (for example that could happen to Grigsby) does he remain at the lower salary if you keep him on your roster week-to-week? Anyone know? Do salaries even change in this league? Drew Willy is a steal at 200K vs Ray and Durant who are both 300K -
Lock of the Week Resuts 1+2 Week (Week 3 entries)
bearpants replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm gonna go a little off the board here... not sure if anyone else picked him Anthony Coombs -
I don't think it's just you.... yes he's always been known as "Thick Nick" but this year he just looks plain fat and slow.... not sure he ever really got into "shape" after the injury... If you take into account their relative size, a guy like Dan Knapp is in significantly better shape than Nik Lewis Dan Knapp looks real athletic for an OL... Yeah, that's the point... an o-lineman should never look/be more fit/athletic than a receiver...

No, he fell down the stairs. What a stupid comment. Oh oh...I want to do one too... uhh....ok I got it...No, he chewed on bubble gum and blew a bubble, and when the bubble popped, it snapped his head back causing him to fall. Luckily someone caught him and he was ok. But then he slipped on a banana peel and was heading straight for a tree, but managed to put out his hands and stop himself from ramming into it. Afterwards, he was going for a jog and was checking out some chicks butt and when he turned his head there was a tree branch and he ALMOST hit his head but managed to duck in time. Later that day he nicked himself shaving which caused a concussion. I mean, honestly Nate...some of the things you say are RIDICULOUS!!! I knew your story was fiction when I read that line.... we all know Nik Lewis doesn't do any running on his spare time You mean Jon Cornish? yes, sorry... I forgot we were talking about Cornish (it's not like the thread is called "Nik Lewis Out With Concussion").... Your story is more believable now...

En englais, sil vous plait.... Now I need to copy and paste your post and email it to my gf so she can translate it for me.... that's a lot of work for me

Jeffrey Bannon no longer with Bomber organization
bearpants replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Too bad... in my one experience with him at the Bombers store I was treated to some of the best customer service I've ever had.... any idea where he's going? -

I find it's more and more obvious when broadcasters are having legitimate debates vs canned arguments.... you can tell when someone is playing devil's advocate just for the sake of entertainment... boring

offensively Montreal will need to beat us with Brandon Whitaker.... I think it'll be a close game... Winnipeg 21 Montreal 13

If Cotton looks good at RB and returning I wonder how much longer Aaron Woods and Will Ford stick around...
