Losing Lirim Hajrullahu to the NFL?
bearpants replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
one 50 yard kick doesn't qualify as consistently.... a little premature for this conversation... -
Our overall run game is definitely a concern right now... the return of Chris Greaves will help.... but there were a couple time I distinctly remember Grigsby making the wrong read... maybe it's time to see what Cotton brings
-
I laughed way too hard at this.... only cuz I was thinking the same thing

Lawless: Trade Glenn January for Canadians
bearpants replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The backlash has nothing to do with the idea.... trading January for a starting Canadian O-lineman (or any position) would be fantastic.... problem is it's never, ever going to happen.... the most any team would give up for an American tackle in his 30s is a late round pick... I'd guess most teams would rather wait to see what shakes out of the NFL if they are looking to upgrade at import tackle... And the circumstances around the Neufeld pick were completely different.... he was a back up (injured) with Sask and they would likely lose him to Ottawa since he wouldn't have been protected....whether Taman makes that trade or not Neufeld, is not on their 2014 roster... a tiny bit of research or just a basic memory coulda figured this out... -
This whole "depth problem" with Nationals that a lot of the CFL is experiencing is easy to fix.... CHANGE THE RATIO.... with Ottawa in the league there are now 21 extra Canadians (with 7 starting) who are were not even good enough to be back ups last year.... there is simply not enough quality Canadian players to sustain this ratio
-
You make a good point here... if everyone was healthy the depth likely woulda been 1) Cotton 2) Ford .... leaving Grigsby to take a PR spot or be let loose...
-
Just what I was thinking .... Cornell is small even by DE standards, never mind DT.... I'm all for guys playing everywhere but unless he can beat them with speed, I don't see O-linemen having much issues with a 225 lb interior lineman...
-
It's no surprise that we're lacking depth.... a lot of the conversation going into the season is "our NI talent is ok if we can stay healthy".... well we haven't and it's shown.... but we're still 3-1 and have an opportunity to go 4-1 this week.... so it could be worse....
-
Can pretty much bank on 1-5 West 6-9 East For most of the season
-
I would rather see Knapp on the Bench, I haven't decided about Howard yet but to me Knapp is built like a TE and plays Tackle Like a TE Poorly 285 lbs is one hell of a TE.... Knapp is playing cuz of his athleticism... I think he can be a pretty effective player... perhaps he could afford to put a few of the pounds back on that he took off in the winter...
-
I think what makes this frustrating.... whether he "gave himself up" or not.... is that the refs definitively say that Washington didn't touch him by not blowing the play dead.... If Washington doesn't let up, it's basically a guaranteed 15 yard penalty...

As far as the D-line goes... I won't be surprised to see Zach Anderson line up at DE for much of the game... I'm a big fan of this guy

Five years ago today - how far we have come
bearpants replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah that was the final straw for me too. Mitch and Bob were being very kind in their comments after the Montreal game despite what a ****-show it was, and on comes Kelly and says "I've been listening to all of the bullshit you guys have been sayin' and I'm pissed off" - on live radio. It was the most non-classy, stupid things I've ever heard from a professional coach. Just unbelievable. The worst part was literally every single week that season there was some sort of controversy revolving Mike Kelly or the team, until they strung together 3 wins. They went those 3 weeks without a fire to put out and looked like they had turned the corner both on and off the field. Then came the Montreal game and the media bullshit comment, and it was back to square one. What a freakin clown show. Having said that I'd still take Kelly over Burke. The day Kelly was fired I never thought I'd want him over ANY other coach... then along came Tim Burke... -

Aug 7 will sell out for sure.... unfortunately it will involve about 5000 green jerseys but the bombers still make the profits... -
This is what happens when I'm not following the MBB posts and twitter simultaneously... I saw the #RandleIsland tweet yesterday and had no idea what it was about... now it all makes sense.... thanks mbrg....

C'mon, we had TJ Rubley. He passed for over 713 yards in one season. Dunigan passed for that in one game.lol yeah that was the joke.... c'mon follow along here... The funny thing about Mike Kelly is he was actually a good football coach.... it was his arrogance, demeanour, and complete lack of class and awareness that did him in... -
The biggest thing about Chris Randle is he won't show up much on the stats sheet cuz QBs will learn not to throw at him.... if the voters are dumb enough to only consider stats when all-star voting comes around, he might not get much attention...

Toronto has league worst pass defence, surprised?
bearpants replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm a little surprised.... Burke was no head coach but he certainly knows how to run a defense.... lots of player turn-over, new systems, new assistant coaches..... I think they'll get it together eventually -
Yeah well that being said, there really isn't much out there to suggest. By the end of the year, Cohon may be okaying tackling dummies as National OL just so teams can make the ratio. Ottawa really has drained a lot of the extra NI talent out there this year. As I believe JBR stated in another thread, three imports on the OL may become the new normal this year, meaning a lot more National DB's and even National running backs becoming the new NI position of choice (as is already happening on several teams)to fill in for lack of NI OL available. I wish we could clone Anthony Coombs, he looks like a stud. in other words, the ratio needs to be changed so we can avoid watering down the quality of play in the CFL...

Unvarnished and Unwashed Weekly CFL Predictions - Week 4
bearpants replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I wouldn't count out Hammy just yet this week.... remember last week's "no brainer" was Saskie over BC.... predicted by almost everyone, myself included -
Please don't ever say that.... I meant it only in the context of Goltz as a short yardage QB. I don't remember him not getting the short yards required. However when Boltus played very seldom did we ever make it in the same situation. Marve does not seem to have that sixth sense to exploit the weakest area of a short yardage defence. I just meant the bolded part.... sure he's good at short yardage but I don't care if Goltz was the best short yardage QB in the history of football.... he was a useless QB and would be a complete waste of a roster spot to have a "short yardage specialist" dressed... at least we know Marve has some potential to actually play the QB position...

As MBB posted on twitter, why make such an announcement for such an underwhelming trade??.. I was really hoping for a NI O-lineman...
