  1. I think the bigger problem is that almost all of our long shots are targeted to Darvin Adams... for those who haven't noticed... Darvin can't win a jump ball to save his life... catch him in stride, sure he'll make the play... but don't expect him to win a 50/50 ball... I'd like to see some jump balls thrown to Kenbrall Thompkins... I know it's a small sample size but he won a perfect 50/50 ball in pre-season action... and he would've never lasted 5 years in the NFL without having that ability...
  2. Funny thing is if you watch the replay of the Adams TD... he looks back just before showboating into the endzone... I think he saw it was Edem in chase and he knew he was fine!
  3. I really love the way the Bombers are employing Streveler... He is getting valuable game action while still learning behind a great pro and great leader... My hope is that we continue this into next year while Matt continues to be effective... then Streveler takes over the reigns starting in 2020... The ideal scenario would be if Matt sticks around at a reduced pay as a back-up... but that's probably asking too much as he would likely get opportunities to start elsewhere... Also, it's entirely possible that Bryan Bennett continues to develop and becomes a reliable back up....
  4. I'd have to imagine Gray's impact will be minimal this year... but if there's an injury to one of the middle three and the coaching staff determines he's the next best guy (rather than Couture)... then he might get in the game... either way, this is a great signing for depth and the future of the o-line...
  5. But that's not even remotely close to the point I'm making... I didn't say, if you don't watch the games live, you're not a fan... I appreciate that life gets in the way.. I've missed three homes games this year and probably haven't missed three games in the last 5 years combined... What I am saying is when you do watch the game... if you are truly emotionally invested in a team... you will feel everything cheering for your team... no matter the circumstances...
  6. I actually kind of agree with you... watching the Esks play yesterday I'm not sure they'll win again this season... but that being said, I also don't have much faith in the Jennings-led Lions... With Lulay, the Lions are in a race for 2nd right now...
  7. agreed... that's part of winning those 50/50 balls at a lot better rate than 50/50...
  8. 1) when has emotion ever been based on facts or evidence?? 2) if you say you don't care about the team, then you probably never really did care... that's not a "shitty thing to say"... I'm not saying anyone is a "bad fan"... I'm saying emotional attachment doesn't just go away... I've felt indifference and frustration with this team many, many, times... but when it comes to game time...I still find my emotions racing no matter what game it is...
  9. I think 2nd would have been very attainable... if Mike Reilly hadn't gifted* Sask their 10th win yesterday... In fairness to Willie Jefferson, it was a great play... I just don't ever give credit where credit is due when it comes to the riders...
  10. interesting note while watching the Edmonton offense yesterday (and several other games recently)... I said recently - as did many others - that's Edm's O was based solely on Reilly hucking it and hoping his receivers would make a play... suddenly Zylstra is gone, Walker is injured, Bowman of old is gone and teams focus on Williams... now the receivers are no longer making the 50/50 plays at a 90% quip and their offense falls off a cliff... can't say I'm too surprised...
  11. it seems like Richie Hall breaks out about 3 or 4 brilliant game plans per year... and every year we ask ourselves... why can't we come up with a successful game plan for every game??
  12. I don't see this happening any time soon... but it's not a coincidence or a mistake that I didn't include Darvin Adams in my "game plan"... But I do agree with your point...
  13. Did we have Martese Jackson?? I think this year, specifically.... the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAF is a big reason NFL cuts are hesitant to come to the CFL...
  14. I agree with a lot of people here... but I find it impossible to just "stop" being emotionally invested in a team... I go into watching some games thinking I don't really care... but as soon as the game gets close or any sort of adversity... I find myself very much right back into it... I was at a wedding last Saturday night and I pvr'd the Bombers/Esks game... luckily I was able to avoid the score and I watched the game sunday morning... I started thinking "we'll probably lose so I'm not that concerned"... the 4th quarter I was pacing, nervous and sweating despite having a 20 something point lead... If you're truly emotionally invested in a team, it doesn't just "go away"... and if it does, then you were never invested in the first place.... I've been a St Louis/LA Rams fan since the Kurt Warner days... and I watch the games and cheer for them... but I don't feel the same level of emotion... if they lose, they lose (I guess it helps that they're good right now and that level of emotion will ratchet up a bit come playoffs)... I don't absolutely despise the Hawks, Cards, and 49ers the way I do the Rider and Als (or whoever is playing the Bombers that week)... that level of emotional investment can only come with a lifetime of attending games and cheering for the same team...
  15. I've wondered what our resistance to playing Flanders is... I remember about a 3 game stretch last year when we used Harris, Flanders and he who shall never be mentioned (TJ Thorpe)... and it gave the offense so much versatility and such an element of surprise when you have three guys with similar skill set... why don't we run something similar with Flanders, Harris, and Demski (when healthy)... Dressler and Wolitarski patrolling the middle of the field and Tompkins stretching the defense... I'm no offensive coordinator... but that seems like a recipe for success...
  16. I don't love the idea of Vesa playing on the 4th line... Doesn't it make more sense for him to get top line minutes in the A?
  17. I'm pretty disappointed to hear we weren't in on Chris matthews... he would immediately make our receivers better... and I hate to be the bearer of bad news for some people... but Darvin Adams is not a #1 receiver...
  18. I agree... can go with Miles or Briggs as an emergency fill in for Bighill... Wild is a great teamer but Flanders adds more to the offense than Wild does ST...
  19. You could see the Als had a clear "strategy" for tackling Harris in that game... it's called the helmet to knee strategy... not surprising from that team...
  20. there's nothing wrong with the rule... just how it is being applied... if you saw the Clay Matthews tackle in the Packers/Vikings game... it was about as perfectly textbook as you can get...
  21. I don;t think Nichols' ego is the problem here... it would be O'Shea's unwillingness to use his second QB more... also, there was never really a time when this was a common practice... a few teams have tinkered with it over the years, but that's about it..
  22. I don't disagree with everything you say... but you say that you want whats best for the Bombers... while simultaneously saying that you want the Bombers to lose... realistically if you wanted what was best for the team you would be cheering for Coach O'Shea's success...
  23. ummmm.... all of your examples made the playoffs.... @17to85 said 9 wins gets you in the playoffs... you just proved his point...
  24. I think it's been noted that the only two people making decent money in Wpg radio are (were) named Wheeler and Burpee... but I am still surprised by the amounts... I would've guessed low 6 figures...
  25. disagree... you're saying you would put Chris Williams in ahead of either Dressler, Adams or Thompkins??
