Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

The Rams actually "reset" the RB draft market the year before by taking Todd Gurley 10th overall... and Melvin Gordon went 15 or 16 to San Diego that same year... -

I never said he wasn't a bust... I just said he had a good rookie season... the numbers don't tell the whole story... I remember he had decent vision and amazing power... then it all just went away the next year... -
too bad... he seems like a great Teammate/locker room guy... also thought he played pretty good in his one and only game last year.... but he played in 1 game over a year and a half, so not really a huge shocker...

You forgot to mentioned that he was stoked about signing in the IFL... or something that definitely wasn't CFL... Pacman has actually had a very good career, despite his continued off-field issues... Richardson, many will forget, actually had a very good rookie season... I don't care to look up the stats but I think he may have had 1000 yard behind a very good Cleveland O-line*... *another fun fact that many forget, Cleveland had one of the league's best o-line for many years... if only they could have upgraded their QB, receivers, running backs, full backs, D-line, linebackers, corners, safeties and coaching staff... they might have had a pretty good team... -
yeah, I saw that one later last night

It is incredible that it is 2017 and there still people this ignorant... a lot of people, sadly...

As great as Medlock has been, he doesn't get into FG range himself... so I would look at Harris or Nichols... Harris has certainly been spectacular but Matt Nichols is the leader of the offense and the leader of this team... I think I would lean towards Nichols... however if Harris gets to 1000/1000 it could be close... Solution: Nichols MOP, Harris MOC

I think in the 5 years we've been together she's driven about 4 times*... this was not one of those times... *very likely I was drunk and she has been pregnant for the past 7 months... -
Since Power Rankings are not necessarily indicative of the real standings... and it's more of a "who's playing the best right now" kind of ranking... it wouldn't be absurd to actually rank the Bombers at #1 right now... that being said, Calgary at #1 makes sense and is likely what you will see in every "power ranking" you read...

my mistake... misunderstood the question...

Flying High into Montréal: Bombers vs. Als
bearpants replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I was actually noticing Leggett in a safety position a lot during the Edm game... especially in passing situations... -
I have to agree with you completely on this part... I really don't care what your opinion (or anyone for that matter) is on the Bombers or their players... it makes it that much sweeter/funnier when I hear all the Sask fans saying Nichols is garbage and the Bomber got lucky, etc... and meanwhile, the Blue just keep putting W's on the score board I didn't vote b/c I think the "elite" tag is stupid and meaningless (see post from the first/second page of that thread)... but I'm pretty sure that pole was started some time after the Montreal game... a lot of opinions have changed over the last 3 weeks...

Flying High into Montréal: Bombers vs. Als

Personally, I don't think this team will fall for a "trap game"... IMO Nichols and Harris are the best leaders we've had on this team since Khari and Milt were running the show... and I believe O'Shea will not let his guys get complacent... maybe my blue goggles are getting darker every game but I honestly can't remember the last time I had so much confidence in a Bomber team... probably 2001... Not that I'm saying they'll finish the season 16-2... but this no longer a Bombers team that will get walked on by anyone... Calgary and BC better be ready next time they face us... -
Alexander and Walker would be my preferred options at CB and HB...

I agree with the second part... but I'm wondering how you consider it a performance enhancer?... Are you just saying that's how they view it or do you think it enhances performance?

This... I specifically remember a play in pre-season against Edm... our DB had inside position on the WR (I don't recall who the players were but I assume neither made their respective teams) and the WR jumped over top of the DB made contact before the ball was there and knocked over the DB trying to make a play... I didn't care much b/c it was pre-season but I said to my friend "imagine if the roles were reversed and the DB jumped all over a WR like that"... guaranteed PI call... I have to agree with you completely in this particular incidence... Harris, Flanders and Nichols were completely dominating the Esks D on that drive... I believe, fully, we would've scored with a hand off or two... why not save the trickery when the O needs a spark...

I watched some of this game.... it was painful.... but that Ellingson TD secured my lock of week pick, and Ottawa to win in both my pick ems'... so that made up for it, slightly...

Just had a chance to review the two most "controversial" plays of the game... FWIW (not much) these are my thoughts: Watson 75-yard play: I saw no issues with it... the 2 receivers blocking were border-line holding, but they both would've been bad calls... it was just a well executed play by Edm... coupled with poor tackling from the Bombers... The IC call against Heath on the game-sealing INT: by the "letter of the law" that was the right call... from a purely "eye-test" football perspective, that call needs to go away... complete garbage that a receiver can run into a DB and get a call... exact same thing happened against Ottawa... the problem with this play is the way it is called, not the actual on-field call itself...
-
remember the Bombers comeback against Montreal is also not possible without this rule...
-
I don't see Okpaulongo going anywhere, it's nice to have the depth.... worst case is he gets 1-gamed for a while... our secondary will hopefully tighten up when Alexander is back...
-
this is the big take away for me... if we can tighten up on the back end/pass D... this team could be something special...
-
Funny thing... if Calgary wins tonight... we will be 6-2 and in THIRD PLACE!!!... maybe it's just the recency effect, but has the west ever been this dominant to start the season?
