why not... I'm essentially saying that even if I lose money (which was technically not happening in this case) I'll still be happy that my team won... I cheer for the Bombers EVERY GAME... and I am always happy when they win and pissed off when they lose... sometimes it's just smart to hedge your bets... bet with your brain, not your heart ... I guess I don't meet your standards for fandom

I think we all agree that most people deserve a second chance... if they earn that right... if Art Briles went out admitted his mistake, donated time and money to helping women's groups, reached out to the effected families, etc... if he did ANYTHING to atone for his mistake (not that you can really take back what he did).... I might feel differently about him... but instead, he filed a wrongful termination suit (not sure if this is still on-going) which essentially painted himself as a victim.... that, I have no sympathy for.... Rachel Nichols said it nicely on PTI a few days ago... paraphrasing: "the fact that Art Briles has a job in football and Colin Kaepernick doesn't just goes to show you what we really value in this sport"... -
Exactly my point.... you called out people as "not real fans" if they didn't predict a Bombers win... we are all hoping the Bombers win every game but a minimal amount of CFL/football knowledge suggests that will not happen every game... For example: I watched the Calgary game back in week 3 (was out of town so a rare missed home game for me) hoping and cheering for the Bombers... but I picked Calgary in both my pools b/c that was the smart bet... I would've been even happier to be wrong.... does that make me a bad fan?

We need to petition the CFL Commish to host LDC
bearpants replied to Wanna-B-Fanboy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
this is a good point... but the flip-side is if you start at home, you get a better chance to win the first game... realistically, splitting a home-and-home is the most likely scenario... so it's a huge advantage to go into the second game with a win already in your back pocket... -
obvious complaints about this list... why does ACTUAL position not matter when they decide these all-stars?... a few of these guys have 3 middle LBs on their list... LB is the most obvious one where it should be a WIL, MIKE, and SAM LB... not just 3 LBs... but it also applies to O-line, left side vs right side... I understand these lists are for fun and conversation... but I honestly question how many of these writers know the difference between all the different positions...

I prefer not to think about what "could have been" in the 07 GC game had KG played... for all we know he puts up a "typical soul crushing Kevin Glenn" performance... as some here have stated...

Assuming Bruce Arthur has his facts straight (and he usually does)... it sounds like the league can't block a coaching signing... "The CFL wasn’t sure it could block a coaching appointment; the league can and has refused to register player contracts, but two sources familiar with the constitution told the Star the only way commissioner Randy Ambrosie could block the hire would be if he decided the move brought he league into disrepute. And even then, the CFL wasn’t sure it would hold weight. So they went with old-fashioned diplomacy instead, arguing and leaning and persuading into the evening, and saved the team from themselves. The statement announcing Briles wasn’t coming arrived at 9:23 p.m." http://3downnation.com/2017/08/29/arthur-attempting-hire-art-briles-stain-ticats-franchise/ -

It makes me cringe when someone classifies it as "everyone makes mistakes"... like this is something that can and will happen to everyone... just disgusting... As for Jefferson's quote... it's not inaccurate as he was a great football coach... just incredibly tone deaf... -

To brush it off as "Art Briles a is a good man that was caught in a very bad situation. " is pretty disgusting... I can't really think of a better word for... I'm not typically one to get outraged over things, and I wouldn't say I'm particularly "outraged" about this signing... but I would be embarrassed and disgusted if the Bombers hired a guy like this... -

imagine a DC with a crooked hat and a HC wearing shorts... some old guys heads would explode... while the rest of us enjoyed a very good football team... Did you dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back for this one? 15 of 37 people (40%) in the pick em pool (myself included) picked Ottawa... don't pretend like you picked Mtl to beat Cgy back in week four... -

This is exactly what I am wondering... Bob Young is a class act and I would be shocked to hear he signed off on this signing... -

I legitimately laughed out loud after reading this... 2 good games and now they're in contention for "best defense of all time in the CFL"? Yeah the Riders are playing some good ball right now... but this is one of the most ludicrous comments I've read in a long time!

Sorry, I didn't want to bring it up... I just distinctly remembered a challenge and subsequent challenge of a challenge... so I had to track it down... -
I think he passes Millinton this year and Cornish next year... barring injury... don't think he'll be catching ol' Normie though! not very quiet around here...

Was hoping to see a few concert reviews here... I was in attendance from the first groove of Naveed until the final notes of Paradise City still rung through the stadium and in my opinion, there was never a down moment... Our Lady Peace - they did a nice 45 minute set... played mostly the hits from the past including Naveed, Starseed, 4am, and Innocent.... they also threw in one new song, which I enjoyed... overall, a nice opener to get the crowd going... Gun N' Roses - I've always had an emotional attachment to this band... when I was around 12 (keep in mind this was about 10 years after GnR debuted, I was just born when they actually first came out) I mostly listened to pop on the radio or pop/punk bands like blink 182 and Green Day... and then one day a friend introduced me to "Appetite for Destruction"... and it changed my life (musically) from that point on... it was my gateway to other classic rock and metal and Slash is probably the sole reason I still play a Les Paul to this day... so needless to say, I was hoping for a great show... some questioned is Axl could still hit the notes... that concern was quickly crushed by song 4 - "welcome to the jungle" - and absolutely demolished by 'Live and Let die"... even by the end of the 3:15 set, he was still knocking every note out of the park... the only time he may have been slightly out of tune was the whistling in "Patience"... but I'll give a pass for that... I wasn't sure how Slash's playing was these days... I last saw him live with Velvet Revolver about 10 years ago and he was still very good then... he was better than I could've imagined... hit the solos with such precision and timing there was never any doubt of his supremacy... watching his bends during the solo for Patience was a thing of beauty... thoroughly enjoyed all of it... Duff and the rest of the band were solid all night... I hate to lump Duff in with the other guys but he was exactly as expected... great vocals and made it a proud thumping thursday.... the other guitar player and drummer I was unfamiliar with but I obviously expected they would hire superior musicians to fill those roles, and I was not disappointed... the back-and-forth soloing from Slash and Richard Fortus during their rendition of Pink Floyd's "wish you were here" was one of the highlights for me on this night... All in all a great show... my personal opinion it was a perfect 5/5... but I obviously have a serious bias... I have a hard time imagining someone rating it less than 4.5/5.... -

MOP - Nichols ... only competitor is Harris but luckily he had his own category... MOC - Harris ... is there really anyone who thinks it should be someone else?... MODP - Randle ... Leggett definitely in the running... ST - Medlock... see note on Harris above... OL - Bryant.... Bond is great, Chungh is great... actually they're all pretty damn good... but IMO Bryant is the anchor of the line... MOR - Thorpe... leaning towards Poop... but @Noeller convinced me that a DT isn't sexy enough for the award.... -

challenges definitely existed in 07... I specifically remember Austin challenging a spot and they actually won it... then Berry took a stupid delay of game penalty buy "challenging the challenge" ... I don't recall the circumstances of this particular INT, whether we were out of challenges or didn't throw the flag in time, or didn't notice, etc... -

It's not 1991 anymore.... all accounts indicate they have been acting like a professional band this entire tour... I will be in attendance and I look forward to a great, nostalgic show!... Also, OLP is a solid opening band... Ideally they stick to a mostly Naveed/Clumsy set list and it should be a solid show from beginning to end.... -
Flying High into Montréal: Bombers vs. Als

You can bet Lewis will be on the field for much of the game... but that also means there will be a fullback in play or one of Cunningham/Jackson will be on the bench... both situations play well for us... -
