Pretty much. I think Pavelec is just a "Bridge Goaltender" until Chevy can acquire someone much better (ie. 90% of current NHL starters, prolly 33% of NHL backups) or Hutchinson is ready to take the mantle.
-
Your best post ever. I'll second it. Pav will seek a deal elsewhere - perhaps Minnesota, maybe even Vancouver (as a backup who can play 24 to 28 games with ease and good stats)...... Chevy has placed "all" his confidence in Pavelec cuz he knows the Jets won't be good for the next couple years, despite the quality rooks and draft picks in the system. So you may as well use up a piece of trash like Pav rather than have a potential great goaler (our next one) come in and get shellacked cuz we can't support him with decent defense and back-checking (not to mention offensive goal support). Jet fans will just have to grin and bear it while Pavelec craps the crease next couple years!

Bombers negotiate Transit game day discount
Nasty Nate replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
How would they know who came out of which vehicle? It's per person. ... You take $5 from each car as they enter the park n ride? Unless they're giving everyone wristbands.... What if I want to do a walk and ride? Will they deny me because I didn't bring a car? (just playing devil's advocate) How 'bout just before you board? -
Agreed! I also loved Nikos on Corydon now that I think about it. Yes, Nikos is good. I always get their reuben sandwiches there. Colosseo on Corydon is pretty good for pizza too. Nikos wasn't good. It was great. But greatness has a price and most of theirs were bumped 30 to 50% recently!

First Coach's Show tonight on CJOB at 7:00 pm CST
Nasty Nate replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
First caller of the night was particularly terrible .. it was a reminder of why I don't listen to the show .. that said .. I stuck it out because I wanted to hear what our new coach had to say early into his first preseason .. I'm sure Irving warned O'shea about the caller mess. After all, he's been doing shows like this since Larry The Ax was a kid! -
TSN Off-Season Game Plan: Winnipeg Jets
Nasty Nate replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
A 6th to 12th pick overall for Kane would be a Chevy-miracle! Unless we soup it up with another player or pick! More likely a 17th to 30th overall would be acceptable to most fans. Straight up. -
Main Camp Day 4 (Reports and Discussion)
Nasty Nate replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Good report. Particularly the QB stuff. I think our slate will be OK but only if they don't do stuff outside their comfort zones. Obviously, Willy is a slow-footed dropback guy, Hall doesn't have any zip on his long stuff and Brohm is rusty as all git out. Marve is the mystery man. If you just play within our guys comfort zones you give opposing defenses the opportunity to lock you up tighter than a drum - so expect the usual 2 and out stuff, which is extremely frustrating but better than Kwik-piks for 6, etc. -

TSN Off-Season Game Plan: Winnipeg Jets
Nasty Nate replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Nobody in their right mind would give up a 1st rounder for a problem named Kane. Kane has yet to fulfill his potential and has accumulated a ton of bad habits and poor attitudes. That said, I think someone might bite on Kane, our 9th pick and a developmental player (like JC Lipon) for 2nd or 3rd pick overall. Would you do that one? -
What did that sammich cost ya? I suspect around $8 or $8.50; same price as a hot dog at IGF....

My guess with Ace Burpee's "Market Burger" is that Ace had so many great ideas putting together a burger joint that no group of staff could possibly handle all of them. When it gets complex the beauty of simplicity is invariably lost!
-
No, that's not it. The place I'm thinking of is a fair ways South down St. Mary's Rd. Are you talking about the one that won a bunch of awards ... Diana's Gourmet Pizza which I think is on St Anne's? Diana's went belly up. Kaye's Auction just yapped off all their stuff!

UnBurger or Nuburger as they now call themselves remains garbage regardless of the name. Haven't been to Market Burger but I expected more with one of the owner/investors being Ace Burpee. When I hear "service is horrendous" you could probably apply this to 80% or more of Winnipeg restaurants. Tony Romas does have good servers but their kitchen has fallen down in recent years while you now have to shell out over $24 for a scrimpy order of ribs. My favourites - Santa Lucia - 905 Corydon - you have to wait a bit longer than usual for the food but its worth it. Rae & Jerry's - best combo of elegance and old style service in the city. Prices around the same as Tony Romas - quality is double. House of Pizza - in Pemby Motel - great take out or deliver, best thin crust pies in town (most of the time; consistency not always their forte)

Judy at City Hall. Pallister on Broadway might be a good combination for a few years. (until the NDP rebuilds its credibility) Having two right-wingers vying for public sympathy (and money) doesn't always work out well.

The argument against term limits is that if people dont like it, they can vote for someone else. We know in thoery it doesnt work that way. Its a double edged sword because sometimes you have someone good that you dont want forced out. But usually people over-stay their welcomes. Thing about Judy is, I agreed with some of what she was saying "in principle" and Sammy did to by how he embraced her ideas after he won. She probably is the leading candidate and will have a lot of money and support. I still have a feeling about Paula that she will be the front runner. The last thing this city needs is a socialist Mayor especially with the provincial NDP on their last legs. I agree about Selinger being an injured rodent with limited life. Those are the ones that usually fight to their death and there's signs Selinger has adopted the old "Brian Mulroney High Nose" pretending his crap don't stink and he's the king of the castle. But we all know this particular fascist is a dying rodent....

Did anyone get lost 2-3 sentences into this? It was like trying to read a tolkien novel for the first time.. Well a lot of effort had to go into the nicknames. I mean, turning "Jim" to "Jimbozo"? Brilliant! Maggot Kelly was a bit underwhelming though. Kelly Savalas never caught on! btw - Maggot was Kelly Savalas' character on the great mid 60s movie THE DIRTY DOZEN. You wouldn't want to know what Maggot was all about but I'm sure you can look it up!!!

Thomas may have difficulty winning his own riding, given his legal troubles. He might not even slither by Walter "The Superstar" Shefchyk.

Paula won't get more than 16% of the vote. Brian Bowman (the metis lawyer) is probably running 2nd in polls to Judy. At this point, the race has to be re-arranged (candidates dropping out and endorsing others) for Judy to get buried. Sam has really been put into a box - if he enters now he'll guarantee a Judy win. If he doesn't he'll give up a cozy job thats given him a ton of 'benefits' if you know what I mean? At this point my best guess on vote percentage Judy W - 44% Bowman - 26% Paula H - 17% Steeves - 10% others - 2% I think Sam won't give up the ghost quite yet. He will neither declare or quit. He'll make his play for the job if and only if Judy & Bowman screw up something fierce. He might plant some "bombs" into their campaigns and hope something bad happens. If it does - Sam may still enter! He's a slippery one and doesn't have a ton of respect for anyone, including citizens!

Apparently, Friesen did the "FULL FRIESEN" on Mike O. and it resulted in a typical bomber reaction. A veritable lockdown. How did that work out for Maggot Kelly? No problem with Wpg Media. Jimbozo Bell has already told O'Shea that Bob Irving is his official media caddy and all info goes thru CJOB BOB..... Most of the other radio outlets just wanna have fun and send reps to the game (a la Ace Burpee, Philly, Bunkhouse Buk (Wheeler), etc. The FP is the official newspaper of the Bombers and have money invested in the team . . . they don't wanna rock the boat too much so guys like Tait, Campbell, etc. serve the purpose of unofficial house organs (as opposed to the official one, Bob Irving) Lawless is the wild card at WFP as he's got the columnist license and also has the 2 hour daily radio gig at TSN. He can get a ton of digs in at the Bombers, and if they flail like last year I'm sure he'll GO NEGATIVE! TV stations in town all have significant investment/interest in bomber games. CTV is part of Bell/TSN so they simply do smile 'n giggle reports. CBC hardly does sports, but Mitch Peacock goes to all press conferences and usually gets as many questions in as Lawless or Sara O. CKND has Shoeless Joe - they don't do much other than hi-lites and a bit of grief. The Wpg boards are usually more favourable to the bombers than unfavourable, especially their own JeffBannon.com site. So in essence Friesen is the only one with Billy the Kid status, Lawless lurking about for interesting angles (so far his top one is Jeff Rabb being rebuffed by the Bomber board) CJOB - the bomber radio rights-holder is usually 90% favourable to the team (understood) and the only time Irving gets mean or nasty is during play by play when things go to heck in a hand-basket. After the losses he's usually found trying to talk people down off the ledge.

The expensive joint medicine company pays Adler's bills so I don't begrude them for shilling so hard for Sierrasil.... With Heavy Hal gone Adler is probably the only on-air guy at CJOB raking in over $100k (he's rumoured around $125 to $160k) Bob Irving might have crossed the 100k line but his duties have been reduced in his semi-retirement as he's strictly the football guy who does a talk show or two plus drops in mornings whenever they need a spare. I suspect Cloutier is pressing $80 to $90k.

1. Duthie 2. Rockin' Rod Smith 3. Rod Black (as long as they keep him away from play by play) 4. Mark Masters (best of the new guys but I suspect MM might bolt to S-net too) 5. Climie I think Sara Orlesky would be the best candidate amongst women but she lives in Winnipeg now and would have to fly out to Toronto every weekend for 2 to 4 days.
