Kuale is absolutely worthless out there. I'm so sick of seeing him making one of his very few tackles during a game (usually after a decent gain) and then showboating afterwards. His emotion means nothing if he doesn't do his job. Perhaps that's the one personnel decision I can hang on Big Mike O. Kuala basically hides behind his d-line and gets caught up in clutter. Hardly ever shoots the gap like great MLBs do. Jacob Kromah must be total rubbish for O'Shea to roster a hobo like Kuala.

Just keep handing off to Volny... what could go wrong...? Why would that be your call on third and less than one? Its not... and its also not 'less than one', that was a full yard crap spot. But even if you get the first down, Volny is your starting back - I'll still take the points instead of gambling on a fumble or interception... we had already lucked out on two fumbles. I, for one, honestly thought Etch had an answer for Sask's late game running - he didn't.... Despite your lack of personality Floyd I have to agree 100%. First, bad spot but there's lots of that in the good ol CFL. 3rd and nearly a full one - with our o-line vs. their monster d-line there's certainly no guarantee Marve can stretch for a full one. If he doesn't get it everyone lips on O'Shea for not kicking a FG. I agree with Mike's call - but he put it into the hands of Etch's defense and Dem. Washington screwed up somethin' fierce on the Taj Smith bomb. Real bad. Even if Bombers gamble on 3rd/1 and go in for TD they leave time for Durant to do same. Bombers did very well to stay with an exceptional Sask'n Grey Cup squad - just not enough force/power in the trenches.

Totally agree with that one son!

It would except Munz is actually worse as a sports talk show host than he is a play by play man. Always seems rather disconnected from the audience and somewhat disconnected from his color man. Not Rod Black bad but pretty darn close. Munz took his demotion at TSN well cuz the alternative was being unemployed and possibly going back to junior hockey pbp. It was announced Friday that Matt Leibl moves into Edmonds chair for the foreseeable future, Westwood remains as the primary go-to guy and 21 yr old Brandon Rewicki gets his big break as the 3rd man in. Don't like this as Leibl tends to hate on other people's opinions way too much and is loathe to put over other 1290 personalities. He's smart and pretty glib but never likes to put himself in a bad spot or take good-hearted humiliation. I suspect 1290 may have considered Kelly Moore (he would also be a great back up for Edmonds on radio and Beyak on TV) but Rewuki prolly comes substantially cheaper! Don't think TSN cares all that much about their morning show as its in tough with CBC's morning news, CJOB's Cloutier/Kennedy combo and one of the rock stations (for those who don't wanna hear bad news every morning) ....1290's real broadcast day begins at 11am with Ricky Ralph and their feature show is Hussler/Lawless from 4 to 6. Of course, during the hockey season most radios will be tuned to the hockey games after 6 pm. They also did well this year replacing Goldeye radio with Bluejays despite the Jays going into the tank~

Vega Healthy Scratch for Sunday
Nasty Nate replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Vega's injury might explain his lack of production. What about Bryant Turner, though? I think he's one guy who'd prolly fare better in a traditional DT role rather than Etch's "hopscotch" d where he sometimes covers guys out of the backfield and drops into intermediate coverage. NOT HIS FORTE! Guys is a bull-rusher who can also stand off all but the very strongest CFL o-linemen. -
That's a rather standard response by The Mikester. Said the same thing when Watson went down. Sears, Neufeld, Greaves, Moore, etc. To make a declarative states that its NOT SERIOUS is more for team morale. The real story will be how the limb reacts to treatment and whether it swells up tomorrow.

Have the coaching staff (Wylie in particular) determined Goosen is no longer ready for prime-time? Or is he nicked? Obviously, Wyle knows Giant Swiston isn't viable, even as a 6th man bench jockey. I'd do anything possible to get Sears in the lineup. Needed to cut off the run early (particularly swift will ford) and put the squeeze on Durant or Sunseri when they try to ride the sidelines.

Lyle Bauer's great legacy to the Bombers was his ability to convince (intimidate) local suppliers and vendors into accepting pennies on the dollar to help bail the bombers out of their early 2000's debt. Miller is obviously a lot more business-minded than the egomaniacal Bauer but his contribution (at least initially) seems to be on the same level as Lord Lyle. He seems hell bent on making sure the bombers never have to pay back a red penny to the hillbilly premier (selinger) who forked over the money to build the stadium. Miller might also be in early stages of setting the table for a private buyout of the so-called community-owned bombers. If the payback to the province lags another couple years Miller could assemble a local group to buy the football team and stadium facility (concession rights included) for a nominal sum (say $30 or $40 million) from the province. Of course, the 30 or 40 mill. would also be "financed". Big Jim Bell might have been getting a bit too close to some closed door meetings so Wade just closed his ticket.

I think the natural hire for 1290 is Kelly Moore from CJOB. Moore is basically lingering in a hockey netherworld at CJOB, participating in their usual pre-game shows and working the limited sports minute OB does in the mornings and at noon. He's also the backup for Jim Toth for their evening sports show. He was supposed to be the Jets radio broadcaster until CJOB had the rug pulled out from under them (he came back from part-ownership of a radio station in BC) and then Munz slid over to 1290. My own feeling is that Moore is kinda being wasted at CJOB. Yeah, he could wait 5 or 6 years til Old Irving gives out as lead bomber guy but that gig is only 18 games, NHL is 82 plus exhibitions and playoffs. That's the natural evolution. Moore goes to TSN to replace Paul E. on the morning Big Show and serves as Edmonds' backup on the radio (they're clearly not happy with Munz)

If I'm not mistaken Bell was hired by Lord Lyle. I think Jerry Morrow and Bannon were also Bauery boyz. Not sure about Finlay Patterson.

I always wondered why Garth got the job instead of him. Garth could sell radio time like the dickens. Never under-estimate the power of a salesman. Garth was in a lot of so-called power meetings with guys like Bauer, Asper, board presidents, etc. so with a new stadium coming they thought a radio time sales guy could translate that into season tickets. In a word, garth was horrid from the get-go.

Alex Hall and Linden Gaydosh released by Panthers
Nasty Nate replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hall is a mercenary. He'll go for coin. If he gets more than $5k more in Ott he's there plus a signing bonus. He doesn't care about playoff money cuz there won't be any in Ottawa and Wpg is gonna be in a struggle. Less focus on him by media and fans in Ottawa - in Wpg he'd be expected to make big plays plus every time he went offside there'd be a revolution. -

Why people hate cable and internet companies
Nasty Nate replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in General Discussion
Cable companies, like many big businesses that participate in a competition controlled environment operate with whats generally known as an anti-social personality or attitude. Much like commercial landlords or property managers these vermin think their stink don't stink and their attitude to public is that of warlord to peasant. And it didn't happen by accident. These folks are trained like this. You don't want Joe Public to think he's got a chance so you have to enforce hardcore principals of control and manipulation. Thats the mark of the anti-social personality. Even the Bombers operated like this for years and they were supposedly a community-based organization (not really true as we've come to learn). But after they cleaned out the vermin (guys like Lord Lyle, Maggot, Ken Bishop, Reinbold, Buchko, Uncle Joe, etc.) they seem much more responsive to the community. -
Ticket count for Thursdays game 27,700
Nasty Nate replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think they had an outlet shop in either Polo Park or St. Vital when Hawker Jeff Bannon was running things. Retail space in most malls is very expensive and the fascist types that run these malls have very little understanding of charity or what this team means to the community. It makes it very tough for the team to pay full bore retail rents, staff the shop, increase inventories and pay all other overhead. -
The old Mark's location is very accessible. . . . other than St. James St. having more potholes per square foot than virtually any other place on the earth, perhaps including Mars. Marks has a wonderful new location in a power mall next to CJOB (the old CKY building) but i've only gone once due to high traffic.

Great News for TV viewers: Dunigan doing color Thursday
Nasty Nate replied to Nasty Nate's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Its taken over 10 years but I suspect a few tall foreheads over at TSN have discovered their worst kept dirty secret. Rod Black knows very little about pro football and doesn't mind sharing his deficit.... -
Khari and Benny were really giving each other the ferocious rat-face. Classic!!!

Comparative analysis - How bad is the Bombers OL?
Nasty Nate replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Its hard to find quality NFL guard cast-offs anymore. Remember there's 32 teams in the NFL. Each has two starters, 1 dressed backup and probably 1 or 2 on their reserve/developmental list. At 5 per team thats 160 men playing the guard spot before you get to castoffs. That means the best cast-off might be the 150th to 161st best import for the position of pro guard. Not very inspiring. Especially when you consider that some of the so-called NFL starting guards are getting ravaged on a regular basis. -
Dunigan just announced on TSN Big Show that he's flying into Wpg and will be doing color during the Edmonton vs. WInnipeg game Thursday nite at IGF. I assume this means Gord Miller (who has great chemistry with Mattster) will be doing play by play. I don't know if the tall foreheads at TSN actually went thru the slog of doing an analysis of Rod Black's work last weekend but if they did they would have seen a guy who basically knows next to nothing about the game and is very willing to expound on it every friggin' play. The alternative hypothesis is TSN executives are dumber than Black (which is hard to believe but entirely within the realm of possibility) Black was goofing up on virtually every series. Something fierce. His best line "Its a first down or maybe its not?" The guy operates in such an area of uncertainy hip-hopping with arrogance. But Matt & G Miller doing the game is a nice reward for loyal viewers. And the 29,000 to 30,500 in the stands? You guys can always PVR the game and watch it later.

Just watched the replay of the Als game
Nasty Nate replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I have to agree. Perhaps that old coot who used to handle the clock at Taylor Field/Regina is now working at Molson Field? Yikes, the clock barely moved. Even worse than all the rubbish officiating and Rod Black! -
Chad Johnson just can't help himself ...
Nasty Nate replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Chad gets one mulligan cuz of his social media profile. However, I don't think he finishes the year in an Als uniform unless they give him one when they release him. Just not enough gas left in the tank. -
Five years ago today - how far we have come
Nasty Nate replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Kavis lost his mind a long time before his so-called rants. Kelly thought he was still chief pilot of Lord Lyle's fiefdom. Neither man enhanced his status. Neither man works in the CFL. (although a move is underway to place Kavis with a bottom-feeder or the league office) -
Ended up in Osborne Village this afternoon so I tried Burrito Del Rio for a 2nd time. First time was VG+, this time even better. Had the medium beef burrito with hot sauce, sour cream, corn, etc. Sets up at $7.55 Had a Miller's extra lite from the LC for $2 to top it off. Beer and Burrito for under $10.
