Royal Blue uniforms are officially back!!
AtlanticRiderFan replied to bb.king's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yup, they look great. I would say it is the best and most significant change in the league. I'm impressed with the Rider ones too, but they really haven't changed all that much (which is fine, just means my Reebok jersey isn't completely outdated). -

Sounds like our jerseys are going to be all green, including pants. Could be worse, but I can't stand it when teams wear the same colour of jerseys and pants. Looks like pajamas. All green jerseys with white pants would be fine, although I do prefer having stripes on the jerseys. In any case, I have no plans on buying the new jerseys. I like my Reebok one just fine. --- BTW, excited for you guys getting the royal blues. All that is shown looks great so far. Will make for an exciting Banjo Bowl . -
Slashes, headshots, glove punches, cross-checking, you name it. All of that will significantly increase if you ban fighting. I don't necessarily like the pure "enforcer" role, but I am ok with having players that can protect the stars. I think other talents should come with the fighting though. Fighting should be limited, but it shouldn't be "banned".

You guys should use a Riders Lose Again thread like the Esks Lose Again thread on rf.

It rhymes with... you know.

New one definitely looks smoother. Not a major change though. -
Lawless article on officiating and rule changes

Many of the challenges we have already are gimmicky, especially the new ones. We need to work out those ones before we get even more of them in. All this is going to do right now is slow down the game. -
Uniform changes with Adidas may not be dramatic

I'm meh on them too, but they are actually intended to be alternates, not the regulars. -

Here's mock-up Schooner jerseys and helmets, courtesy of Joe747 from rf: Love these, IMO. Second and third ones are my favourites. -

I like them. I'd prefer white pants with the retros, and green pants with the road jerseys though. -

I'm fine with it as long as they don't the whole schtick where they wear the same colour of jerseys and pants. -
Saskatoon could definitely fill at least 20 000, no questions asked. Whether they could match Regina's support though is less certain. Living only an hour and a half from Moncton, I'd be stoked if they got a team. I think it's a long shot though. The amount of renos on their stadium would be like building a completely new stadium. The city is a little small, but it's very central. Over million people live within a 2.5 hour drive of Moncton. So one is a province wide team, and one is a more local team, sort of like the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. I could see some people not converting to Saskatoon if it would be marketed that way. It wouldn't seem near as much like a rivalry that way.
-
Those markets are also WAY bigger. We're talking markets with millions of people compared to markets with a couple hundred thousand people. It would be a lot easier to find fans willing to convert in regions like Southern Ontario and Quebec than somewhere with a smaller population like Saskatchewan.
-
It's thanks to the Saskatoon people that games sell out, even if the vast majority are from Regina. The organization has maintained that they rely on the entire province for support and that they couldn't operate the team solely on Regina support. If you were to put a team in Saskatoon, you run of risk of sinking both teams, and potentially leaving the province with no teams. I can see it happening a few decades from now once the two cities have both grown more, but definitely not any time soon if ever. Saskbluefan is exactly right about Saskatoon. The Riders are by far the most popular team in that city. Everywhere you go, you see fans wearing gear. There's Rider merchandise everywhere. You always hear about that team there. I remember coming home from a friend's house after watching the Grey Cup in 2007, and there were even cars honking their horns. They're rabid. I could honestly see fans bucking against a Saskatoon team if one were to come, whether it would be boycotts or fans remaining firmly with Regina, or whatever. If it happens, it would be a big gamble.
-
Some probably would, but only because of convenience. I still think there would be enough fans staying put that it could prove to be difficult. I would be torn if I was still in Saskatoon, not sure what I would do in that situation. Now that I'm here, I would definitely stick with Regina as I am no longer bound with Saskatoon. Yup, it's been larger for a long time. It's even bigger since 2011 as well. It's estimated to have 260 900 people now. Regina is around 230 000.

There's no way the ratio would be put in place for St. Louis. Which means the only things to do to get St. Louis would be to allow them to ignore the ratio or to abolish the ratio altogether. One provides an unfair advantage for St. Louis, and one is unfair towards Canadians. So yeah, I say this idea should be dead in the water. Either which way, expanding to St. Louis would **** up the entire league. And as for whether I even want a team going to St. Louis anyway, I absolutely do not. As it is, the NHL, MLB, NFL, and NBA are dominated by American markets. I feel like the CFL is one of the only leagues that isn't meddled with by American markets. Let's keep it that way. This is the CANADIAN Football League, not the North American Football League. The CFL USA expansion in 90s was a disaster (Thank God I missed it), and I think we should just learn from the past and not go that route again.
-
Hell no. The CFL belongs in Canada and only Canada.

I need an Oilers/Pens jersey like that first one ! -
I have become a big NFL fan over the last few years, but CFL is still better for me, personally. I would watch the Riders any day over the Broncos.

I don't, lol. I'm just careful not to get anything on it. -
I hate the layouts of both sites now. Absolutely terrible. The only thing good about the new cfl.ca site is that it defaults to my local timezone in the schedule. Don't have to change it every time.

For fun......what's our 18 game record now?
AtlanticRiderFan replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I have yet to see a Rider fan predict 12 wins. Most say at least 9-9 if Durant stays healthy. Some are still predicting under 500 for now. -

AtlanticRiderFan replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'll say 10-8 for now. Safe to bet with the amount of improvements that they have made, that they should be above 500. -
Yeah, it was rather uncalled for, TBH. They've never gone after MBB before. Usually, they're talking about esksfans.
